Interestingly, Ottolenghi who of course I have tons of books from, was sort of trained, he was a trained pastry chef, but nothing else, then opened some delis and went from there
But people would probably put a lot more store in his books and recipes and view him as more authoritative perhaps than Nadiya?
Im sure theres others but he sprung to mind, he does a lot of collaborations with other chefs/cooks/restaurateurs, under the category of what woujld be called ME or Islamic/Jewish cooking Im sure. Not sure why there have been so many posts on this thread incredulous of something called ME or Islamic or Muslim cookery.
The ME share huge amounts of cross over dishes so 'Jewish' dishes are often akin to 'Muslim' dishes and all competing for the title of 'best this or that, or first this or that'
