2026 Celebrity Traitors - The Rumours

Is it too early for a Celeb Traitors 2 Thread?! Never, I say!

Thought I’d start a thread so we can share all the whispers, and wishes, for the Series 2 lineup.

Names I have heard so far, from the likely to the fanciful:

Bob Mortimer - was rumoured for S1 but apparently couldn’t make the schedule work
Tom Hiddleston - apparently a huge fan of the non-celeb version and appeared on Graham Norton alongside Claudia where he was dropping hints about how much he’d liked to be involved
Liam Gallagher - Scott Mills was saying he’d heard he’s a big fan

Others I’ve seen online:

Danny Dyer
Hugh Grant
Hugh Bonneville
Alison Hammond
Cheryl
Daisy May Cooper

Any others you’ve heard?

Disappointed Ruth Jones isn’t in the line up.

CountryQueen · 02/05/2026 11:57

I mean, it’s nothing near the first series line up. Really not understanding people wetting themselves over it. It’s like they’ve scraped the comedian barrel and just thrown in whatever came out, and chucked Ross Kemp in for good measure 🤣

REP22 · 02/05/2026 12:00

Excellent lineup. Disappointed there's no Bob Mortimer, but looks like it will be excellent. Miranda Hart and James Blunt! I loved his book and his Twitter responses to his trolls are epic.

I wonder which ones will be the traitors? Rob Beckett, Ross Kemp and Julie Hesmondhalgh would be my picks. Brilliant!😀

Uberaddict · 02/05/2026 12:03

I think it’s a really good line up which speaks across the ages with some content creators and actors that speak to my tweens and teens plus some big dogs and some icons like Jerry Hall who my MIL will love. Julie H is amazing call. Why no sports people though- Joe, Tom and Clare B all added value last time. Way too many comedians

BillericayDickie · 02/05/2026 12:03

i am happy

I agree with this, I’m a bit disappointed.

On the comedians I think they realised Alan’s comedic chops gave them so much material and kept it entertaining so they’re hoping for more of that.

Yep. Alan is in a league of his own.

Joe Lycett ffs. It feels like we have already seen this group recently in LOL, at this point they are basically touring together filling the sleb reality quota.

Lazy casting. Actors, comedians and podcasters. Yawn. Where are the sports people? The journos, the politicians, even a bit of royalty in the castle 🤣

There's a few that I don't know, amd I roll my eyes everytime a Youtube/Tiktok/SM "Star" is announced on Strictly.

Who would you have wanted? It seems very comedian heavy but I say there's a few there worth watching.

Yeah I noticed there were no sports people. I agree they were good. I was hoping for Andy Murray!

Sapphireandsteel2 · 02/05/2026 12:31

It's a good lineup except no sports people. The comedians are hardly 'scraping the barrel'! Unsure about both Romesh and Rob, they are very close in real life, so maybe one will be a traitor and it'll test their bond.
Looking forward to Richard E Grant and Michael Sheen but they might be seen as 'big dogs' like last time?

WestwardHo1 · 02/05/2026 12:35

Have to say I thought it would be a bit MORE star studded. I guess I got carried away by Hugh Grant rumours. I mean, as if 😁

Pleased to see Miranda Hart. Hopefully she'll be a hoot.

But where is the sporting royalty? The Redgrave and Pincents, the Colin Jacksons etc?

ThePeewit · 02/05/2026 12:41

CollaterlieSistersSister · 02/05/2026 10:34

Definitely here for James Blunt!

I have the commonly held view that his music is a bit meh, but he’s a really funny bloke.

Absolutely. I recommend his book Loosely Based On A Made-Up Story, it was my book of the year when I read it.

WestwardHo1 · 02/05/2026 12:41

Yeah I noticed there were no sports people. I agree they were good. I was hoping for Andy Murray!

He would be absolutely great. He'd alternate between deadpan delivery and extreme grumpiness.

MaySheWillStay · 02/05/2026 12:45

Some people there I really enjoy watching, especially Julie Hesmondhalgh, James Blunt and, increasingly, Hannah Fry.
I hope they don’t go out early doors, as Clare Balding did.

Are there any informed rumours about when filming will be, for this or the non-celeb version? DH will be staying close by in a fortnight: I suppose the locals will know when it starts. He has no interest in the programme but would probably take a walk through the grounds for my sake.

FettchYeSandbagges · 02/05/2026 13:07

Based on the timing of the announcement, I have a suspicion they will have just finished filming.

misscockerspaniel · 02/05/2026 11:11

Who are the "big dogs"?

Romesh and Miranda? 😂

Yes, it’s a bit samier? Comedian-heavy. With the very obvious built-in plot point of having two comedians who work together all the time, to make people think one of them has to be a traitor?

crossedlines · 02/05/2026 13:24

Not a bad line up though I agree too comedian heavy. Miranda ffs. She’s not even remotely funny. James Blunt I think is guaranteed to out-funny all the comedians anyway

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 02/05/2026 13:26

I cannot believe the BBC sent a breaking news alert about this 😂.

Happy with the line up overall (particularly Acaster, who will be hilarious at the round table), agree with a PP about either Rob or Romesh being a traitor to mess with them.

Was hoping for David Mitchell too and would've loved Bob Mortimer. I understand that he can't do the physical stuff but maybe they could change the format of the challenges to being less physical and more like brain teasers or something in a future series so he could participate.

I absolutely love James Acaster so I’m very happy with him!

I agree David Mitchell would be good. Even better if they could get him and Victoria on it together. She’s a world class poker player - I wonder if that would help her spot who was picked as a traitor.

REP22 · 02/05/2026 13:58

James Acaster was on Saturday Kitchen with Ed Gamble at Christmas, he was absolutely hilarious on that, I hadn't really liked him that much before.

"Content Creator" though...? I will try and be good and not judge before I have watched.

I didn’t say they were scraping the barrel. I said the producers scraped the comedian barrel and just chucked in whoever was available. And it’s always the same ones available unfortunately. Could get boring very quickly as they all sit around trying to out funny each other 🙄

mydogisthebest · 02/05/2026 15:27

For me the line up nowhere near matches the first one. Could be interesting though and I will watch at least the first couple to see what I think.

No idea what Maya Jama is meant to bring to the show.

Madcats · 02/05/2026 17:35

FettchYeSandbagges · 02/05/2026 13:07

Based on the timing of the announcement, I have a suspicion they will have just finished filming.

Last time they filmed I thought I had read that they billeted everybody at a (Marriott?) hotel at Inverness airport (so presumably lots of soundproofing), with security guards outside their rooms to stop them sneaking in/out.

I am guessing that the filming has happened otherwise loads would be trying dummy bookings for all the nearby hotels.

I’m looking forward to it, anyway (though I’ve not heard of some of the contestants).

FettchYeSandbagges · 02/05/2026 17:43

I think it would be far better if they kept both Rob and Romesh as Faithfuls, and let each of them suspect the other of being a Traitor.
