Can’t see a thread. Anyone watching?

OP posts:
DiamondRBD · 21/02/2026 14:30

I've watched every series of traitors on iPlayer (so not the other international versions that I know some people have seen) and I've only seen one person refuse seduction when the alternative was murder, I think.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/02/2026 12:43

Have not read the whole thread. Just seen the last two episodes. Phew, got there without seeing a single spoiler. I really enjoyed this series. Happy with the outcome. Not quite the same rules as the UK version at the very end, though, which might have made a difference to the outcome in some circumstances.

I may have to go and look for the Australian and NZ versions now.

Funny because I have so much respect for Joanna. She was bang on the money with what she said. Faye is practically Regina George. Also Oyin did bring up Faye's name at the round table to Joanna, then flatly denied it.

I also thought Joanna was spot on about them being Mean Girls. I don't remember the whole 'who said what to whom' saga they were so hung up on, but if Oyin did bring up Faye to Joanna at the RT and then flatly deny it, that's a bit poor.
I don't get why Vanessa was so 'hurt', as she said, even if Joanna had misinformed her (I don't think J deliberately lied about anything). Why was it such a big deal?

Oh, and someone on here suggested that Joanna is Romanian, but she said in a confessional section that she's Polish and grew up in 90s Poland and it 'wasn't much fun'.

I'm not really enjoying the girls vs boys split (is Ireland a very patriarchal culture, or have they just managed to find a rather stereotyped bunch for this?), but I'm kind of with Joanna now on wanting a man to win. I'm disappointed in these women. I tend to find the UK and celeb casts much less problematic in this regard.

Fruitpastelsyum · 23/02/2026 14:04

It was me with Romania - couldn’t remember which Romania or Poland - I don’t think that changes anything

loved the result - one I wanted - won’t say anything until few more have watched

No, of course it doesn't change anything; I was just saying it in an 'aside' kind of way.

Yeah, they used the original UK version rules for the final day.

Will let some more people watch it but I have a thought or two for later!

What you mean saying whether traitor or not - I was glad they did that

chisanunian · 23/02/2026 16:24

I'm pleased with the outcome, and like @ChoccyJules I'll wait until more have seen it before saying anything else!

honeyrider · 23/02/2026 16:34

When the Traitors was shown in Ireland a lot of viewers agreed with the mean girls being called that.

Ireland used to be a very patriarchal country but has managed to throw off the shackles of the Catholic Church and would be far more progressive now. I recognised the boys vs girls split from my teens but don't see it at all now with my teens. The majority of people in Ireland were educated in single sex schools which I think does contribute to it because they weren't mixing as equals in a school setting and learning how to socialise with boys. That has started to change now with more and more co-ed schools being established. From reading threads on MN I get the impression that a lot of people in the UK had bad experiences of co-ed schools and would like their own kids educated in single sex whereas in Ireland more and more want their kids educated in co-ed after only having single sex option when they were young and seeing the issues it brought as a result.
Sorry bit of a derail.

Fruitpastelsyum · 23/02/2026 17:22

Yea and calling them “girls” - even the women calling themselves “girls”

I thought nick made him self elected referee because of the gendered roles

Where I live in Ireland the typical greeting when meeting someone is "well boi" "well girl" and that applies to all ages.

Yeah agree, I'd always say things like "I'm heading out with the girls" my dh would probably say "I'm out the boys/ lads". Men/ women feels very formal

honeyrider · 23/02/2026 18:15

I'm in my 60s and still say I'm going out with the girls.

Yes but do you describe yourself as a girl out of those contexts?

I agree “girls night out etc” - we also say “boys night” not “men’s night”

Usually would use girl in a variety of contexts, not in a professional context though.

I didn't like the winners.

dimples76 · 23/02/2026 21:36

I was very happy with the outcome. I don't think it would have been the same final three if they hadn't revealed the traitor status of the finalists.

It did seem to me that the contestants had less fun in this series than in some of the others - not that I have watched many.

Rictasmorticia · 23/02/2026 21:43

Yep happy with the outcome. Strange scheduling. Am I right in thinking it was on I player before live Tv broadcast.

Rictasmorticia · 23/02/2026 21:45

I forgot it was on BBC3
