Thought I'd kick it off so we have a new thread for the final leg

Old Thread for the people what likes it all neat 'n' stuff.

UnquietDad · 15/06/2008 21:03

here he is with Katy Manning

RustyBear · 15/06/2008 21:04

David Troughton's son Sam is also an actor - what's the betting he'll turn up in it before long?

beansprout · 15/06/2008 21:05

I love Donna too. I was really dreading Catherine Tate when the series started but she has grown and grown on me and now I wouldn't want him to have someone, who, frankly, is not much older than a child as a companion. Sniff.

Can you tell I am feeling old and bitter tonight?

PersephoneSnape · 15/06/2008 21:18

sorry I'm late

that was absolutely TERRIFYING!

Dcs are convinced that the doctor is dead and don't seem to realise that there are three (?) episodes to go. wouldn't it be lovely to have that innocence?

Donna has grown on me slightly - possibly because she wasn't in last nights episode too much ;) dd says she likes Donna because she is kind, she stands up to the doctor and she thinks she is more like a mum, rather than eye candy. i think that the last couple of series have really started properly as regards story arc etc with the latter parts of the series - series three really kicked off with family of blood onwards - so i now think everything is of huge significance!

squeeeeeeediddly eeeeeeee though. too scared to rewatch this one!

Ripeberry · 15/06/2008 22:06

Forget about Daleks and the like. Scared Human beings are much more dangerous to the Doctor!
Really scary moment when they were trying to drag him off.
Next week looks good as well!

PersephoneSnape · 15/06/2008 22:16

loved that though - teaches kids important lessons about thinking differently to the mob and how people can react to outsiders. the unknown. but i did think it was nice to check the doctors arrogance (you need me! I'm the only way you can get out of this!)

serenity · 15/06/2008 22:42
  1. I really really liked that
  1. I'm going to the DW exhibition at Earls Court tomorrow and I don't care that I'm a grown up woman, I'm still going to jam my fat backside into a Dalek and take loads of sad fangirl photos.
serenity · 15/06/2008 22:43

Oooh did anyone else notice that they detoured via The Witches Canyon (or something similar) and then the rest of the episode was a kind of Salem Witch Trial jobbie?

BecauseImWorthIt · 15/06/2008 22:44

Sorry, but I thought this week's episode was really weak. Kept waiting for something to happen, and it never really mounted to anything.

Very disappointing, especially after last week.

RustyBear · 16/06/2008 09:36

A lot happened - it's just that it happened inside people's heads!

Maybe not so exciting for little children, who like monsters you can see but then it's not primarily a programme for little children, despite the efforts of the BBC's marketing department.

KayHarker · 16/06/2008 10:40

I'm loving on rewatch, too, still just deeply scary to see the Doctor totally disarmed like that.

I think it really shows RTD knows the character he's created so well - everything that would normally be one of the Doctor's strengths was turned against him, his intelliegence, curiosity, compassion, confidence, authority and even his voice, which is really the best weapon he has.

I'm not sure how it's possible to over-act that you're terrified because someone has stolen your voice and has convinced everyone else that you need to be killed.

Anyway, I'm that spooked that I'm writing mushy fic to distract myself. Glad they don't do that every week.

same business as AG, diff publication.

gizmo · 16/06/2008 16:46

Not fair!

I've just managed to wean myself off a lengthy speculation thread on a fanwank forum so I can surf mumsnet get some work done, and now I'm being sucked into the Void again...

It's good then?

AitchTwoCiao · 16/06/2008 16:47

'tis.

AitchTwoCiao · 16/06/2008 16:49

also can i point out that i said that Catherine Tate would be good in her role as Donna, and that she is a talented actress etc etc? now that you lot are ALL coming round on this, i just want it noted that I Was Right.
(no doubt that's why i get paid the big bucks. [hollow laugh])

gizmo · 16/06/2008 16:52

Hey, I never had a problem with Catherine, not being a fully signed up member of the Church of Rose.

But, yeah, You Were Right. You have earned every penny

serenity · 16/06/2008 17:26

Hey I can link to various threads on proper geeky forums (and probably on this one) where I stood up for Donna! I was Also Right I have been surprised however by how much more I prefer her to Rose and Martha, as I am a huge Martha fan.

Gizmo - I read spoilers, I have no will power. Luckily they've just made me want to see it NOW rather than actually 'spoil' it. (which fanwank forum btw?)

gizmo · 16/06/2008 17:30

the shame

I lurk, mostly - I don't have enough original ideas to contribute. But I enjoy having a number of possible parallel versions of the next episode in my head, which can be collapsed into one at 7.00 every Saturday.

And the real one is always so much better than what I imagined.

serenity · 16/06/2008 17:48

Ahhhh I am registered on there, but it's a bit intense sometimes (lurk too, and rarely post). I tend to stick to here which is slightly more user friendly (but has it fair share of hissy fits rational discussions, although still fluffier than MN, lol)

KayHarker · 16/06/2008 18:04

he he, you lightweights.

The former OG isn't scary at all. We're a bunch of pussycats (and have you seen DontTeaseMeRoseTyler's threads? Wind-ups of name-changing AIBU proportions)

OP posts:
KayHarker · 16/06/2008 18:27

Aitch, so, anyway, Turn Left.. is it a sliding doors style story of titanic proportions, then?
