Which once loved tv shows do you think have now gone on too long and have become boring, repetitive, predictable and tedious and just need to stop?

I’ll start:
Bake Off
The Apprentice
Call the Midwife

Anything Ant and Dec, Catchphrase, Strictly, The Chase

CondeNastTraveller · 21/01/2026 22:32

Love island. Its run it's course.

ClaudiaWrinklemum · 21/01/2026 22:34

What’s with all the Strictly hate? If we get rid of Strictly how will we know it’s nearly Christmas?

Anything with Ant and Dec
The cheekie chappie Geordies it's been done to death.
Annoying pair of cunts.

This Morning. Only good when it was Richard and Judy.

I don’t think this morning needs to stop… I just feel Ben and cat just aren’t suited to it… Alison and dermot are fantastic. I find Ben incredibly boring and I know I’m not the only one as I’ve seen tons of comments elsewhere. Josie, Rylan & Emma Willis are also good. I actually loved Phil and holly, they were hilarious, bounced off each other really well. It’s a shame everything that happened.

DBSFstupid · 21/01/2026 22:37

Honestly? Most of it.

I watch those shows and enjoy them. If I ever go off a show, I just don't watch it any more. It doesn't bother me if it's still being shown.

Mudslideal · 21/01/2026 22:39

Deal or no deal would rather stick pins in my eyes !

Skybunnee · 21/01/2026 22:39

Everything except bargain hunt and countdown

Newyearnewnamenew · 21/01/2026 22:51

I’m a Celebrity
This Morning
Loose Women

No idea what else as I’ve pretty much given up on TV shows.
So much of it is just fast food for the mind.

Modernfamily2011 · 21/01/2026 23:08

Definitely Love Island, I used to love it a few years ago but it’s run it’s course and why is it on twice a year now?
Same with I’m a Celeb
Celebs Go dating

Yes

TheAutumnCrow · 21/01/2026 23:29

All of the above.

Mrs Brown’s Boys should be nuked from orbit, just to be sure.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/01/2026 23:29

Defo call the midwife.
Downton went on too long.

Poshsmith · 21/01/2026 23:31

Geeze The Apprentice is still a thing….honestly ……watched it for quite a few years when it launched but when one of the winners sued Alan cos she got a bullshit job I just cudnt take it seriously after that. But that’s like over 10 years ago.

AnonymousBleep · 21/01/2026 23:40

Strictly

puffyeyewink · 21/01/2026 23:42

Noooooo not Call the Midwife, I really enjoy it! Even if I do find it excruciatingly twee, that’s the whole charm of it!

Everything else listed, especially Mrs Browns Boys, can go in the bin, but not CTM!!

Purplebunnie · 21/01/2026 23:43

Mrs Browns Boys
Anything with Ant & Dec - how the hell do they keep winning awards every year
That stupid program finding things people have lost in the lake district
The Apprentice
Dragons Den
Love Island, I'm a Celeb etc etc and all the other tacky crap like it

Every bloody cookery show - except for Saturday Morning Kitchen and Best Bits

All the quiz shows except University Challenge DH would be unbearable if that went

I weaned myself off the soaps years ago, so they can go as well

I would like to have a decent Saturday night again, BBC is dire we end up watching Netflix or Prime

And why is it when the BBC show football, snooker etc at the same time on 1 & 2 they don't utilise BBC3 & 4. Move some of the other stuff over or put the snooker on 3 or 4

PurpleLovecats · 21/01/2026 23:49

I like Call the Midwife!

but agree with:

BGT
Mrs Browns boys
Daytime antique programs
pointless
the chase
deal or no deal
lorraine
loose women
gogglebox
love island
The simpsons
who wants to be a millionaire
ant and decs limitless win

Contrarymary30 · 21/01/2026 23:54

All soaps , they are beyond ridiculous and don't portray real life . The one where they dress up in weird outfits and sing , the panel acts surprised when they 'take it off ' dreadful .... House in the sun or country needs to go .

Ohcrap082024 · 21/01/2026 23:54

My elderly mum loves Call the Midwife so we can keep that.

Get rid of that awful Mrs Browns Boys.

IMissTheLittleBluePackets · 21/01/2026 23:54

As somebody who has just started maternity leave and started watching daytime TV, my suggestion would be all of the programmes about buying and selling absolute shit.

The channels seem obsessed with people rooting around in their houses or antique shops, to find something to sell for £3.50 at auction.

Tedious bollocks!

EstoyRobandoSuCasa · 22/01/2026 00:24

I hate the talent shows such as BGT because:

They humiliate people who are neurodiverse, or who have a mental illness or learning difficulties. It's cruel to build people's hopes up only to smash them back down in front of a live audience and millions of TV viewers.

It's frustrating when the BGT judges are too quick with the buzzers. They buzzed off one act within a few seconds which was making my family laugh - we would have liked to see more.

The boring sob stories. No one says they want to be a singer because they've always wanted to be rich and famous. They're always performing in memory of a deceased relative, however distant.

The phoniness of it all. I've heard of production staff approaching established acts in the UK and abroad and trying to persuade them to audition. There have also been accusations of misleading editing, e.g. the producers' favourite act might be broadcast followed by a rapturous reception from the audience which was actually their response to a different act.

CookingFatCat · 22/01/2026 00:26

Anything with Amanda Holden in it.
