She's 86, so I suppose she's allowed to take it a bit easier. Harrumph. She's been great. Her replacement has to be able to hold her own against Paul Hollywood. Any ideas?

Dame Prue Leith leaves The Great British Bake Off

She has been a judge on Channel 4's baking competition alongside Paul Hollywood since 2017.

Nadiya Hussain

I’ve always liked Rachel Allen. She’d be fun with Paul.

wandererofthekingdom · 21/01/2026 15:49

I'm sad she's going she's been fantastic, but like she said she is 86, but she just doesn't seem it at all! I wonder if they'd bring Nadyia back as she's fallen out with the BBC, but I'm not sure if she could fill Prue's shoes, maybe Briony another former baker turned presenter.

2026willbebetter · 21/01/2026 15:51

I think Nadyia has burnt that bridge.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/01/2026 15:51

Not up to speed with what happened with Nadiya. As this is Channel 4, is it relevant that she's no longer with the BBC?

Jo Brand please!!

Itsokaytomorrowisanewday · 21/01/2026 15:58

No one should replace her. Why oh why do we have to put up with the same old shows, with the same old format, with the same celebrities, churned out for years and years until a once loved show has grown stale, predictable and tedious.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/01/2026 16:02

Well, that's a point of view, but I for one am still very fond of GBBO. Alison Hammond was a very good choice to be one of the non-baking presenters. The Traitors is relatively new, so it's not as if we never get anything different. My favourite TV programme ever is University Challenge, which is almost as old as I am, i.e. ancient. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I had forgotten it had moved!

highlandharpy · 21/01/2026 16:05

It will need to be a professional cook/baker and I assume they'll stick to the Male/Female format. Maybe they could convince Nigella to give it a go; she'd have some great puns for the show!

I think they might opt for a past contestant/winner who has gone on to some personal success. Nancy Birtwhistle knows her stuff and has gone on to a decent level of professional success with cookbooks etc. She also has good form in TV interviews and had chemistry with Paul.

I love UC too! And Bake Off.

I think Nadia would be amazing. Or the fabulous Ravneet Gill who does the junior one.

EnchantedDaytime · 21/01/2026 16:14

Cherish from Bake-Off The Professionals, she'd keep Paul in his place.

DisforDarkChocolate · 21/01/2026 16:15

Delia please. If not, Nadia would be good.

That’s a good call.

I love Cherish on BOTP but I don’t think she’s “warm” enough for GBBO.

EnchantedDaytime · 21/01/2026 16:22

She certainly takes no prisoners! Yes, probably a bit too fierce for amateurs.

Blackcountryexile · 21/01/2026 16:23

I still miss Mary Berry but that boat has sailed. I think Nadiya would be good or Nancy Birtwhistle. I 'd like Noel to be replaced as I don't think he adds a lot to the show. Ellie Taylor on the professional's version is much better.

chattyness · 21/01/2026 16:25

I'd like to see Nigella on it, but they probably can't afford her

VBsWeddingDance · 21/01/2026 16:28

Delia
Nigella
Nadiya

inigomontoyahwillcox · 21/01/2026 16:38

I haven't seen anything of Delia publicly for years

HollyhockDays · 21/01/2026 16:43

Delia yes. Definitely not Nigella it would be all about her.

She’s retired, I think, given she’s 84!

Freysimo · 21/01/2026 16:47

Andi Oliver if they want to be more diverse? Has already done Great British Menu, so experienced.

Puffalicious · 21/01/2026 16:48

I've missed Nadiya burning her bridges. What happened?

deeahgwitch · 21/01/2026 16:48

Nigella ?
or
Rachel Allen ?
