So recap of s1
The gripping first series aired in 2024, and introduced Sophie Rundle as PC Jo Marshall. After a body was discovered in the aftermath of a devastating flood, heavily pregnant Jo began investigating the man’s possible murder.
However, pursuing the killer changed everything for her when she discovered that her beloved boss Sergeant Mackie was complicit in the local crime – and bent as they come. Sadly, under Mackie’s influence, Jo’s boyfriend was also on the take.
Set against the backdrop of the rising threat of flooding and moorland fires, season 2 (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/after-the-flood-season-2-first-look-newsupdate/) will follow Jo and her new partner DS Sam Bradley (played by Jill Halfpenny), as they try to track down a killer following the discovery of a body in bizarre circumstances.
But Jo's efforts “bring her into direct conflict with powerful and influential forces within the town, ultimately drawing her into an investigation that becomes deeply personal”, the official synopsis teases.
“One that will require her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has blighted the town's police force – and her own family – for decades.”
Alongside Rundle, additional returning cast members in season 2 include Nicholas Gleaves as Sergeant Mackie, whose corrupt ways were discovered by Jo in season 1 – only for Mackie to threaten to destroy her family’s reputation if she breathed a word.
The season ended on a big cliffhanger as Jo was left debating whether to turn him in or not.
Philip Glenister will also be returning as Mackie’s former ally, Jack Radcliffe, while Faye McKeever will be back as Kelly Kamali.
George Bukhari will also return as Keith Kamali, Maui Connock as Sophie Kamali, Tripti Tripuraneni as PC Deepa Das, Heider Ali as DS Babak, Leo Flanagan as Finn, and Jacqueline Boatswain as Sarah Mackie.
Meanwhile, new additions this time alongside Halfpenny include Alun Armstrong (Sherwood), Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth) and Matthew McNulty (The Jetty).
Anil Desai (The Night Manager season 2) has also joined the cast, alongside Steph De Whalley (Doctor Who), Nathalie Armin (Maigret), Tony Marshall (Sister Boniface Mysteries), Roger Morlidge (The Bank of Dave), Oliver Nelson (Home Fires), Jenny Platt (Waterloo Road) and newcomer Lola Brown.
