Yay. It’s back.

Then come back 😀 thread below

So recap of s1

The gripping first series aired in 2024, and introduced Sophie Rundle as PC Jo Marshall. After a body was discovered in the aftermath of a devastating flood, heavily pregnant Jo began investigating the man’s possible murder.
However, pursuing the killer changed everything for her when she discovered that her beloved boss Sergeant Mackie was complicit in the local crime – and bent as they come. Sadly, under Mackie’s influence, Jo’s boyfriend was also on the take.

Set against the backdrop of the rising threat of flooding and moorland fires, season 2 (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/after-the-flood-season-2-first-look-newsupdate/) will follow Jo and her new partner DS Sam Bradley (played by Jill Halfpenny), as they try to track down a killer following the discovery of a body in bizarre circumstances.

But Jo's efforts “bring her into direct conflict with powerful and influential forces within the town, ultimately drawing her into an investigation that becomes deeply personal”, the official synopsis teases.

“One that will require her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has blighted the town's police force – and her own family – for decades.”

Alongside Rundle, additional returning cast members in season 2 include Nicholas Gleaves as Sergeant Mackie, whose corrupt ways were discovered by Jo in season 1 – only for Mackie to threaten to destroy her family’s reputation if she breathed a word.

The season ended on a big cliffhanger as Jo was left debating whether to turn him in or not.

Philip Glenister will also be returning as Mackie’s former ally, Jack Radcliffe, while Faye McKeever will be back as Kelly Kamali.

George Bukhari will also return as Keith Kamali, Maui Connock as Sophie Kamali, Tripti Tripuraneni as PC Deepa Das, Heider Ali as DS Babak, Leo Flanagan as Finn, and Jacqueline Boatswain as Sarah Mackie.

Meanwhile, new additions this time alongside Halfpenny include Alun Armstrong (Sherwood), Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth) and Matthew McNulty (The Jetty).

Anil Desai (The Night Manager season 2) has also joined the cast, alongside Steph De Whalley (Doctor Who), Nathalie Armin (Maigret), Tony Marshall (Sister Boniface Mysteries), Roger Morlidge (The Bank of Dave), Oliver Nelson (Home Fires), Jenny Platt (Waterloo Road) and newcomer Lola Brown.

It was a terrible ending and I did have reservations when the new series was announced, but hoping it make amends.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2026 00:59

Reading the names at the beginning they have a good well known cast with

Lorraine Ashbourne
Nicholas Gleaves
Philip Glenister
Jill Halfpenny
Alun Armstrong
Matthew McNulty
Ian Puleston-Davies

moto748e · 26/01/2026 01:25

Yeah, they're always good, the first two in particular.

moto748e · 26/01/2026 11:22

Recap guy isn't a fan, really is he? I don't think he's that great, he hasn't got much POV about it, no theories, no ideas.

Anyway, my question is, do we trust DS Sam?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2026 11:43

Have come to the conclusion that reel m doesn’t like any tv

dont think have ever seen a glowing recap on anything 😂😂😂

yes I think we can trust sam

OP posts:
TheWeeDonkeyFella · 26/01/2026 12:12

I was going to ask about Sam too, do we think good cop or bad cop? Interesting you think we can Blondes. I think we can too, but not sure (which I guess is the writers intention!).

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2026 18:12

We have enough badies and she is with Joanna so I think she’s ok

OP posts:
moto748e · 26/01/2026 23:00

DS Sam looking very dodgy now! I wonder if the CCTV of the break-in was really of Layal with Xav and Todd? Couldn't help thinking about that stuff about men's gait can easily be spotted. I actually thought at the time, are they all men? And I thought they were. Did anyone think they spotted a woman among the three?

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 27/01/2026 00:04

I don't know about DS Sam, but maybe Mackie was just fishing. The way she pounced on Jo for having evidence photos on her personal phone as a disciplinary offence was what made me sway towards thinking she was a very straight copper.

I couldn't make out that level of detail on the cctv @moto748e, you're far more observant!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2026 01:15

Same @TheWeeDonkeyFella. I don’t think she’s a bad cop

OP posts:
moto748e · 27/01/2026 10:50

Despite the fact she was snooping on Jo, and seems pally with Mackie?

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2026 13:46

Undercover and playing him

I could be totally wrong 😂

OP posts:
moto748e · 27/01/2026 13:50

It may well be another misdirect (with two eps to go!), in the way TV series usually go, but they are surely pointing the viewer in the direction that Sam is dodgy.
