Welcome to Thread 5 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far:

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)

Candidates for murder in Episode 6: Ellie, Faraaz, Jade, Matthew, Reece and Sam (Amanda was also a potential but was banished beforehand and Fiona and Stephen cannot be murdered).

The floor is yours…

Where have I said that Amanda should control Rachel's strategy?

Rachel was using the fact that Amanda confided in her to her advantage. Because Amanda was a faithful, her trusting Rachel with her secret and advising her what to do should she go, would make Rachel look like a faithful.

Faraz can also back Rachel up to confirm that Amanda did request to talk to Rachel in private, and disprove Fiona's accusation of Rachel lying about Amanda.

Rachel's execution of letting others know about Amanda was poor, and I reckon she needed to have done it in small groups first.

I hope Rachel remembers this, or Faraz realises and brings it up...

It's not actually a family tree though is it? There are no connecting "branches" worked into as there is on a family tree

It's just a drawing of a tree with the contestants printed on it. The endless speculation about possible relationship is daft. Especially for those that have now been banished or left - if there were relationships it would have been made know to the viewer when they went, as it was when Ross went.

The two relationships that were there have made absolutely no difference to the game at all!!

I would suggest Ross's relationship with Ellie was his downfall as it wrong-footed him when Nettie jumped on him right at the start. I think that made a difference...

i can’t make out whether Amanda was incredibly naive or incredibly arrogant.

whichever, it's incredibly worrying to think of all the criminal investigations that will have been led/misled by her 'intuition' - let alone of all the hundreds of Amandas still serving in the police!

Imagine if Jade was a suspect in a crime - not a shred of actual evidence against her (unless the crime is being incredibly boring!) but Amanda was on her like a dog with a bone!

Don't worry - the Jades are all handed over to a Harriet who says OK prove it.

I think I want Jessie to win.
I'm not a fan of Fiona OR Rachel. They are both bitchy and control freaks with a side order of Smug.

lettingthedaysgoby · 09/01/2026 19:30

Maggiethecat · 09/01/2026 18:32

I disagree. Rachel should have considered how she was going to use the Amanda info, perhaps consulted with the other traitors first.
Even if not, revealing it in a small group setting would have been better.
Fiona, spoke with her privately and again, rather than considering next steps Rachel chose to tell a large audience that Fiona said she was lying. Why? What was the purpose of that?
I can understand Fiona losing the plot a bit at that stage, thinking Rachel was throwing her under the bus.

Rachel chose to tell a large audience that Fiona said she was lying. Why? What was the purpose of that?

But Fiona accused her of lying in front of everyone in the kitchen, Rachel didn't need to tell them...

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 09/01/2026 19:33

I personally don't think that getting the stuff wrong on traitors means you were bad at your day job
Hugo and Amanda had big egos probably because of their job and hoped their job skills would help in the game
But since neither of them had played before, you can forgive them for not realising just how hard it would be.
And Amanda as a detective...like there would have been leads etc to go on. In the Traitors they have nada.
So yeh, we can all be armchair gurus, but we see every side so it's easier for us to think"no you are wayyyy off the mark!" But reality would be sooo different

Only AFTER she said It to her on private and Rachel trotted off to tell everyone.

ilovesooty · 09/01/2026 19:35

I think my favourite moment was Jessie on her own. "And here they all come, chatting bollocks".

lettingthedaysgoby · 09/01/2026 19:36

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 09/01/2026 19:34

Did Rachel mention Fiona's reaction when she was tellling everyone? I don't remember her doing so (and it would undermine what she was saying).

ChinFluff46 · 09/01/2026 19:38

I don't know, I think power did go to Rachel's head a bit.

She led the selection on the family tree, she told Stephen they were sticking together. It wouldn't have taken much for her to inform Fiona before announcing Amanda's secret, she could even have said I'm going to do something and I'll explain it latter. We can discuss how to use it, I just want you to clock reactions. She got used to Stephen being a yes man.

SoScarletItWas · 09/01/2026 19:41

Rachel is handling the Amanda-secret-sharing like she would her job IRL. She’s head of communications and was in crisis management mode at this stage!

First, tell everyone at once (ok in three groups one after the other quickly, where everyone naturally was congregated) - this means everyone hears at the same time; nobody accuses her of favouritism.

Then, when Fiona accused her of lying - take control of the narrative. Reveal to everyone what you’ve been accused of and deny.

The only this she’s done wrong, IMO, is she did the first ‘briefing’ best - she positioned it as ‘Before Amanda left she told me this and said I should reveal it if she went’. She wasn’t so clear in the subsequent briefings, although that may of course be the editing.

Rachel went into the kitchen and was like "do you want to hear something ridiculous? (Or something) And then proceeded to say Fiona said she was lying.

I agree, although she did speak to Fiona - who told her she didn't believe her.

ChinFluff46 · 09/01/2026 19:45

It was very curve ball that Fiona said she'd made it up.

Although to be fair any single one of the group could think she'd made it up.

Sam's reaction when Rachel said 'Amanda doesn't believe me' was like a 'mmm, and?' murmur. If she knew she was telling the truth, why the dramatic pause?

I'm curious how it's all going to go down on the RT.

SoScarletItWas · 09/01/2026 19:48

I’m more curious about how they’re going to be at breakfast.

They'll have to have it out in the turret.

Then they’ll have to ‘re-enact’ their squabble or pick up the night’s showdown at breakfast. They can’t just swan in and pretend they didn’t depart with obvious bad blood between them!

dapsnotplimsolls · 09/01/2026 19:48

I don't think we'll see the result of the RT tonight. They're going to torture us until Wednesday.

But they also don't want to make it obvious that they had a discussion outside of normal castle hours - that can only mean they were in the turret!

They need to get more out, though, there are too many in there at the moment. Someone will go tonight, maybe two

Exactly my point. As far as everyone’s concerned they departed mid-showdown. They have to pick up from there!

AfraidToRun · 09/01/2026 19:53

I don't get all the Amanda hate. I have a job where I process large calculations, I deal with figures all day long and I'm good at it but put me in a mental arithmetic competition, I'd probably not come out top.... I think it's unfair to say based on a heavily edited show that her entire career is unjust. We normally reflect on how hard the game is but for some reason occasionally we just call the players stupid instead...

I think Fiona genuinely thinks Rachel is lying and is angry because she thinks this shows how far Rachel will go to win so took her out before Rachel got rid of her.

I love Jessie and really want her to win.

helplessbanana · 09/01/2026 19:54

I'm going to watch the breakfast scene with fingers crossed hoping that someone, anyone will use the 'traitor on traitor' line...
