So Celia Stick bit the dust
As Ray failed to quell his disgust
Now John is the prey
Our Kev needs to slay
And if April goes too I'm not fussed

Ryan Hawley was talking about the Corriedale writer Owen Lloyd-Fox in an interview in the Metro “who’s someone whose work is kind of invisible to most people who don’t appreciate writing, I guess, as a lot of the viewers probably don’t.” Excuse you Mr. Hawley I always take notice of who the writers are on Emmerdale and whether they’re good or bad!

Ellenanora7 · 05/01/2026 00:49

Thanks @TellingBone @JaneJeffer @Jitterybugs2

Looking forward to getting back on the threads 😁

JewelleryCat · 05/01/2026 04:43

Are we having a separate Corriedale thread or just using this thread?

I’m going to follow this thread for Emmerdale and Corriedale, I think. Have seen enough spoilers by mistake, so trying to avoid any more. Am I sad to be looking forward to tonight’s tv? Already planning an easy tea around viewing!

Jitterybugs2 · 05/01/2026 08:00

I think I’ll just stick with this thread. I do my best to avoid spoilers and don’t want to risk looking at the other thread in case I see one.

Another saddo here who’s looking forward to this evening Middlemarch123 😂

JaneJeffer · 05/01/2026 08:08

I’m staying on this one as well. Hopefully we’ll have no spoilers on here. I have come down with the bloody lurgy and feel terrible 🫩

Same here 😞
Gonna watch Emmerdale and Corrie today on itvx but apparently corriedale isn't going to be on there early, so will be watching tonight with you all

JewelleryCat · 05/01/2026 08:39

Get better soon @JaneJeffer and @strugglingwithlife 💐

There's already a thread for Corriedale but it includes spoilers and speculation/theories.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/5464682-corriedale-theories-and-spoilers

I asked there if it was also the official thread for tonight but got no reply so I’ll probably stay on this thread too

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 05/01/2026 08:41

I'm staying on this one too.

Sorry to hear you're poorly. I feel something brewing too. But could be the usual menopause aching 😕

Talking of writers, I really like the one who adds a comedy element to things, like the scenes with Sam and Cain.

Hello everyone 🤗 🤗!
Belated HAPPY NEE YEAR 🍾🍾...

Hope everyone is well and ready for what might unfold for us !

I have been all over the place trying to catch up on Emmerdale, Corrie and both threads ...I had to keep looking at the thread titles to check what thread I was on as names from both soaps kept popping up 😅😅..

I am going to be naughty and watch in a while on ITVX as there is no way I can do 2 hours without someone interrupting me !

But , I will still watch along later with you all as well.

@JaneJeffer I am so impressed that you did 4 hours straight to catch up on Corrie !
🍾👋🎉🍾..😅.

It was mentioned on the Corrie thread that there is a behind the scenes insider program on ITV3 at 9 pm which shows how it was made and stuff.

(and Corrie slip ups and out takes follows on after if anyone is interested in that )

Looking forward to catching up later to see if it has all lives up to our expectations 😅😅.

Jitterybugs2 · 04/01/2026 18:47

Just in case this is of interest to anyone. I noticed on my tv box there’s another programme on at 9pm tomorrow called Corriedale:Backstage Pass on itv3.

Says it’s packed with cast interviews and exclusive access, the ultimate insider look at what happens behind the scenes when 2 soap worlds collide.

I said I was getting my threads muddled up !! 😅😅😅🤣🤣 !!

I read it on this thread !🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

bizzey · 05/01/2026 10:17

I will let the Corrie lot know !

CherryogDog · 05/01/2026 10:21

I've been away for a few days so stayed off the threads to avoid spoilers. Which is daft because I don't mind spoilers 😁
I've also got a lurgy so I'm staying in the warm and will watch Emmerdale early on YouTube, less adverts than ITVX.
No spoilers from me.

SingaporeSlinky · 05/01/2026 10:23

I do hope whatever happens tonight will see the end to most of the heavy storylines. We’ve had a year of the April and Dylan stuff which is just so boring now. Modern slavery and the death of at least one of the workers. Violent stabbing of Celia. John the serial killer just seemingly free to roam around a tiny village. It wasn’t so long ago we had Meena the serial killer. For a sleepy village in Yorkshire it’s a tad unrealistic.

It seems like every few years a new exec comes along and has to make their mark and ramp everything up. I get it’s a cut-throat business for ratings but Emmerdale was always the easiest watch for some light relief. I watched it with my parents as a kid but there’s so much violence now I wouldn’t want my own kids to watch it!

TheHillIsMine · 05/01/2026 10:26

Today is my day off so I get to watch everything live but I'm more looking forward to all the comments on here. You're all fab.

Middlemarch123 · 05/01/2026 10:55

Hope everyone feeling poorly feels better soon x

I agree, in the article I referenced yesterday a scriptwriter said he wouldn’t let his kids watch it. Said it needs to remember it’s a soap not a late night drama. Totally agree, some of the stuff last year going out at 7.30 was just wrong. I didn’t realise either how far ratings have dipped, apparently all 3 main soaps are under 4million, Corrie top, then Emmerdale, then Eastenders with the lowest. Twenty years ago Eastenders were top, and ratings for all 3 were in the teens. Specials, like Christmas, live episodes reached late twenties.

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 11:35

I agree with everything you said @SingaporeSlinky . It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of violent and unpleasant stuff that's gone on in a tiny village over the years. I live in a town of 10 00 and we've never had one killer, let alone several!

I watched tonight's Emmerdale then tried to watch Corrie but I just don't know who anyone is apart from very old established characters so I gave up after 5 minutes.

Sadly Corriedale isn't on early so OH will just have to suffer it or go into another room as we only have one telly 😁

SingaporeSlinky · 05/01/2026 11:47

Not too much light relief on Corrie either. For those that don’t watch, some of the main storylines are a same-sex domestic abuse against Todd (a long standing character) by new guy Theo, which has fairly quickly turned physical and quite hard to watch. And a corrupt back-from-the-dead policewoman who was supposedly in some sort of witness protection, now back and trying to split up her wife/widow from her new fiancée, who she’s kidnapped and kept locked in a cupboard.

Hopefully an end to both of those storylines too!

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 11:51

Has Carla become a lesbian now? That shows how long it is since I watched it!

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 05/01/2026 11:55

RE Ratings.

It only beat MAFS UK by 1.3 million on one night in November.

Things like Bake Off get double what Emmerdale does.

Both are actually more pleasant to watch than Emmerdale with its constant warnings.

I think they really need to look at what they're putting out, the constant misery when the world is going to shit and people are already feeling the effects of that really won't win them viewers.

I fear tonight will just be even more of the same depressing stuff just with two soaps involved.

Yes she got engaged to Lisa, a policewoman. All was going well until Lisa’s ex Becky turned up from the dead. At first Lisa said she’d moved on, grieved for her etc but they share a daughter and Becky managed to wangle her way back in through manipulation. Eventually Carla left and was going on holiday alone for some space but Becky kidnapped her. Other police on the street are starting to piece it all together. The ads for Corriedale show Carla, so we know she’s alive - I think last time we saw her in Corrie she was in a car boot.
