So Celia Stick bit the dust
As Ray failed to quell his disgust
Now John is the prey
Our Kev needs to slay
And if April goes too I'm not fussed

RE Ratings.

It only beat MAFS UK by 1.3 million on one night in November.

Things like Bake Off get double what Emmerdale does.

Both are actually more pleasant to watch than Emmerdale with its constant warnings.

I think they really need to look at what they're putting out, the constant misery when the world is going to shit and people are already feeling the effects of that really won't win them viewers.

I fear tonight will just be even more of the same depressing stuff just with two soaps involved.

I agree it has been almost constant misery in both. I know they always try to highlight real issues such as domestic abuse, but it’s been content warnings for almost every episode of both Corrie and Emmerdale for months now and I’m sick of it.

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 12:31

Sounds like Corrie is as far fetched as Emmerdale.

I know they like to highlight social issues but the misery levels have been way OTT this year. I suppose they though Sarah and Jacob getting married was something happy but a) they have zero chemistry and b) it will all go to shit if the baby isn't theirs

Too much to expect that in 2026 the writers will take notice of what the viewers want?

Why can't we have some normal families instead of endless single weirdos?

TellingBone · 05/01/2026 12:32

That's the key. Provide storylines that don't merit a content warning. Plus bear in mind that if we want cop shows we'll watch cop shows.

A skilled writer could make Mr Wilks mistakenly linking the bitter to the mild pump and Amos kicking off about it interesting.

I’ve really enjoyed the break from Chas and her miserable face. Can she get a job in Weatherfield and stay there please? Bob livens the Woolie up so I hope they keep him there. There was a scene where he was serving Vic and Robert and you could see Ryan struggling not to laugh. We never see the B&B now anyway.

FabulouslyFab · 05/01/2026 12:51

I’m puzzled as to why the wedding planner, Belle, isn’t actually overseeing the wedding she has been planning?

Get better soon @JaneJeffer and @strugglingwithlife 💐

Thanks @JewelleryCat

Did anyone see Jai/Chris Bisson being interviewed on itv lunchtime news about the Corriedale episode? He said he was really keen to feature in the special episode as he was in Corrie long ago.

They showed a Corrie clip from 1999 with the sound muted and no reference to the female actor. I paused the tv to see if my eyes were deceiving me. It’s Manpreet!

@Jitterybugs2 Yes, she played Nita and he was Vikraam, I think. They were siblings . They were Dev’s cousins and worked in the shop.

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 14:20

I remember Vikram being in Corrie but not Manpreet's character. I muddle her up with mad Meena (yes, another one!) who drove a red sports car into a wall or something.

TellingBone · 05/01/2026 14:25

I remembered Vikram but not Nita. I liked Dev's Uncle Umed 😃

I can vaguely remember Vikram but not his sister.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 05/01/2026 14:41

Yes I saw something where he said he was keen to be in it and told them he wanted to be in it, as someone who had been in both soaps he should be in it

Wasn’t it mad Maya? Meena was in Emmerdale

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 15:03

Maybe it was Maya. It was a long time ago.

SingaporeSlinky · 05/01/2026 15:20

Yes I saw Chris Bisson being interviewed with Asha from Corrie. He said he has a very small part with a nod to the fact he’d been in Corrie.
He was also interviewed on Good Morning Britain earlier today next to David Platt / Jack P Shepherd.

There was also Charity alongside Tim from Corrie, who seemed very quiet/awkward and barely spoke.
I’ve watched too much tv today!

Remember when Eric was a baddy? I got far too invested in a story where Belle(?) inherited a teddy bear, which was obviously Stieff, and he was trying to scam her out of the value. Now the bear would contain a kilo of uncut heroine and there'd be a shoot up over it.
That saying, looking forward to tonight.

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 16:05

I hope Corriedale doesn't end up in some sort of disaster where the baddies from both shows are killed off after us having endured their stupid stories for a whole year.

Didn't he murder one of his wives? It was the same night as the plane crash so everyone assumed she'd died in that?

I often wonder if the body buried under the Platts extension will get found. Sarah and co involved seem amazingly undisturbed by its presence.

Elizabeth? She was his other son's mother, who he never mentions

RudolphTheReindeer · 05/01/2026 16:20

SingaporeSlinky · 05/01/2026 12:01

Yes she got engaged to Lisa, a policewoman. All was going well until Lisa’s ex Becky turned up from the dead. At first Lisa said she’d moved on, grieved for her etc but they share a daughter and Becky managed to wangle her way back in through manipulation. Eventually Carla left and was going on holiday alone for some space but Becky kidnapped her. Other police on the street are starting to piece it all together. The ads for Corriedale show Carla, so we know she’s alive - I think last time we saw her in Corrie she was in a car boot.

The ads for Corriedale have totally ruined other storylines as we can see certain people haven't died despite current storylines implying they might.

I don't remember her name I'll have to google. I don't remember him having another son either lol.

Fairly sure her name was Elizabeth and she had a son called michael but he wasn't Eric's son. Eric does seem to have forgotten about his actual grandson Theo

I know we’re all expecting carnage but what if someone gets out of one of the cars and it’s Andy, Adam or David (insert your favourite missing character here). That would be good. I want surprises not death!

RaraRachael · 05/01/2026 17:07

Did Elizabeth have a daughter called Elsa who was married to Kathy's brother Nick. He ended up in jail and she took their daughter to Australia and married some rich guy.

That’s funny you should say that. I was just thinking last night wouldn’t it be funny if Andy turned up. Kelvin does seem to be busy with his real life farming now. I watch some of his programmes. But never say never. If Ray was doing the job he was pretending to do he could have visited Kelvin’s farm and sold him a new tractor.
