Max has ignored Tanya’s calls. This might be significant, or just a way of reminding us she was once his wife.
I read that Lauren is furious with her dad at the christening of Jimmy , although this is probably because of Cindy and him having a row I suppose.

I don’t know the rules in Scotland are but in England they will assess Nigel’s finances alone. They cannot touch what is Julie’s. If the house in Scotland was owned jointly and half of it went to Nigel then they will use that for care home fees. Any savings above 23,000 have to be used to pay the fees. I doubt EE will go into any detail tho.
They will look at the one care home which will be wonderful and have a spare room for Nigel and Bobs your uncle he’ll be in!

The type of home that Julie is looking at for Nigel would be the last one the local authority would look at. But this is the somewhat fantastical world of EE where you can look after a houseful of kids, a few adults by running a business selling burgers. So the money will be found. In real life, if someone like Nigel really can’t live independently or with family they will go to an average home and the house wouldn’t have to be sold for the fees as long as Julie is officially still living in it.

EastEnders aren't going to have a debate about property disregards or local authority funding, so if Nigel does go into a care home Phil will use his magic money tree. But I can't see how Nigel in a care home would work. Nigel never seen again, Julie talks about visiting him? Julie stays living with Phil? I think he will conveniently die before a care home becomes reality.

I've just had a thought! In the flash forwards for 2027 that shows Max looking like he is about to get married (again), maybe it's Linda he is marrying?!?

I don't understand why Jasmine is acting all cut up about Oscar dumping her? She wasn't even that into him in the first place ffs - or is it the guilty conscience of starting the fire and nearly killing Oscar that is eating her up?

I thought Linda saying ‘you’ve got three kids’ was just in response to Max saying ‘see you tomorrow unless one of my two needs rescuing from a fire” so she was saying “you’ve got 3 kids (round here, not two)”

I thought Nigel would die next week but it’s not happening. They all visit a home on January 5th. We’ll see Phil go in a break sometime in February (Steve McFadden is currently doing panto) so maybe Nigel will go into the home or die just before Phil leaves.

Absolutely hideous what Linda is wearing in the episode dated 19/12/25 and I normally like what she wears 😳 I think what Linda meant when she said you've got 3 kids is the 2 Max had just mentioned (ie Oscar and Lauren) and then Annie.

Really liked this episode actually as lots of straight talking from Max and Lauren and even Linda. Hopefully with Max and Linda back, the storyline will improve as they are better actors.

Also, I've had a thought who could be behind Jasmine finding Zoe and the one who sent the fruit/card - maybe it's the boy twin who didn't die?

Kellie Bright and Jake Wood bring a lot to EE.

I know Lauren is a bit of a fuck-up but Pee-tah is such a sanctimonious little wet wipe at times. Really annoys me! It didn’t help that today he was dressed like Daniel O’Donnell (or is it Val Doonican?) with his his sweater, slacks and 80s highlights.

Speaking of ‘style’, why the hell has Linda returned from the cruise with a new style of wearing towering stripper shoes, even to take Annie to the playground?!

What does Max do for a living? He walks around in a suit, but appears to be long term unemployed and homeless.

Oh, and of course Zoe just randomly starts up a convo with Jasmine right before Christmas and invites her round for Xmas day! Silly season has officially started on EE. The ‘it was all a dream’ shower scene is a genuine possibility, I feel.

I agree PeTah is a self righteous idiot, at least Max talked him round today and we didn't have weeks of it.

I was wondering the same about Max, what does he do now? It must pay well as he can magic up £3k. When he arrived in the square originally he sold insurance didn't he? Something with a briefcase anyway. I guess he will buy back the car lot from invisible Jay, but that isn't going to make him much money.

Max has had a few jobs, selling cars and was with the Weyland group once trying to get hold of the Vic to make into flats. That involved commuting to London.. rare on EE.
I think he was an insurance broker once as well.
Cars is his thing though , he once has a flash Mercedes
It would make sense for him to work at the car lot , especially as he is staying on. He needs to pay that 3k somehow even if Lauren is going to pay it back .. ( she is never at work though !)

Linda always wears uncomfortable looking clothes and shoes. Most mums of two little ones wear comfy practical clothes, but she rarely does. Kat is always done up , but she is a landlady , so it is expected I suppose!

Done up in a 1970s cheap looking pub landlady way , a la Bet Lynch Coronation Street style .

None of the mums of little ones wear normal, practical everyday clothes that most mums put on. Chelsea, Sharon, Kay, Denise…all walk around wearing high fashion and tiny handbags whereas busy mums are in joggers and jumpers from Next with a rucksack. Karen Taylor was the rare authentic looking mum (albeit a tiny bit too scruffy for me with that hanging bra strap🤣).

I haven’t watched Thursday’s yet but I find it unbelievable Max didn’t realise Annie was his ages ago. He has seen her previously, there are no red heads amongst the Carter kids and surely he would have worked it all out from the dates he last slept with Linda.

I agree re Annie, one look at her would raise his suspicions! Someone did mention that, Oscar I think? He was too preoccupied with Oscar and then Lauren for it to click but he would have any moment so I'm glad they resolved it quickly.

I'm enjoyed New Max so far but they will of course ruin it. It does look like he's getting married in the flash forward, if so it will be wrecked by Stacey's 'unexpected' return. Whatever else happens there will definitely be yet another round of the putrid Max and Stacey affair.

It would be a breath of fresh air to see one of them on a school run with jeans and boots and a practical coat on. The men don’t have to dress up constantly to do their jobs! I know people don’t like Julie, but she dresses down. Kathy wears practical clothes and looks cool though. The rest are always done up to the nines.
I don’t understand the Stacey / Max fascination by the writers. He practically groomed her, lied a lot and broke her heart and Tanya’s as well. I hope that Stacey isn’t involved with him anymore when she returns

I thought Stacey dressed in normal "mum" clothes, day to day.
Chelsea, Sam and Denise always look polished and well turned out.
I can't warm to Max I'm afraid.
Agree with grooming Stacey plus the massive red flag of she was dating and then married to his own son.
Plus he bedded his daughter's best friend.

Kathy would look stunning in a bin bag to be fair.

The Stacey and Max love story has never been credible mainly because he is old enough to be her dad.

Ditto re subtitles - I'm not hearing impaired, but fine it easier to pay attention with them.

Stacey never took off those shiny leggings , there must've been a secret market stall churning them out . Elaine and Sharon were fond of the shiny legging look too !
