Just two more dance offs left. This series has flown by !

No surprises in the dance-off and a fair conclusion.

Both dances were better which is always good to see and particularly for Alex to have a more satisfying conclusion.

Balvinder's had a bumpy journey to get this far, but this is about the right point for her ability. She hasn't stayed in at the judges' decision at the expense of greater talents, she's just been unlucky that middling (sometimes stingy) scores haven't been boosted by the public vote either.

I think Amber's position on the leaderboard will be crucial in the next couple of shows. If she's not at the top with no ties she'll end up in the dance off, first taking out Balvinder and then .....? Lewis could beat her, Karen if she gets a style that suits, but George would have to do something so crowdpleasing that the judges can't resist voting for the entertainment value.

I think Amber vs Balvinder in next week's dance-off and Balvinder will finally go. I've really warmed to Julian; he seems like a very cheerful likeable guy.

The semi-final dance-off will be the first to really show us what the public vote is like for Lewis, Karen and George. I think Karen is probably very popular with the public. Everyone keeps saying about George's millions of online fans but the semi-final will show who's the most popular out of him and Lewis-the-ringer. Personally I'd love a Lewis/Amber dance-off in the semi-final as it will make the judges very very cross. I'd like to see Karen and George in the final.

I said in the last thread that it would be difficult to predict who will be in the dance off next week other than Bal, as she is the weakest at the moment and likely to be getting the least votes.

Karen, Amber and Lewis have been top of the leaderboard multiple times, but I think Karen is probably getting the most votes at present, so she could avoid the dance off even if she's second from bottom.

Amber has only been in the dance off once, but I wish she would hide her relief at not being in the dance off a bit better. Spare a thought for Bal who's been in it 5 times more than she has!

You sound gleeful at the thought of a Lewis and Amber dance off, although I suspect it is a highly likely scenario, especially now we are faced with a 3 person final.

Amber was absolutely distraught after her first dance off, but I'm guessing both potential contestants will just take it on the chin.

Expressing a view and being gleeful can happen simultaneously and that sentence sounds pretty gleeful to me.

Well, quite. Judges want the strongest contestants in the final, but rarely does it align with what the public want.

As it looks like a 3 person final, the thought that it near inevitably will be Lewis, Amber, +1 isn't very appealling. There are Lewis dances that I'd happily watch again, and the remaining contestants entertain me but Amber's style while very neat, precise and athletic is just a bit bland.

I think Amber will go in the semifinals and it’ll be Lewis, Karen, George in the final - assuming Amber’s in DO against George or Karen.
I think if it was an Amber/Lewis DO, Amber would be saved. It’s true, as a pp said, male ringers seem to get less stick generally, but I get the feeling the judges like Amber more.

i really hope Amber goes soon. hopefully it will be karen, george, lewis final and george wins.

I would like amber and lewis in the next dance off to bet rid of at least one with significant previous dance experience.
Nothing personal, I don’t like this every year. I don’t blame those taking part but disagree with this addition to genuine beginners as a format.

Me and DH caught up yesterday with Saturday night and then the results. We thought Alex was the right choice to go. We definitely thought it sounded like Johannes was saying goodbye as well, although could be mistaken. I know he’s going into the West End in Kinky Boots next year so perhaps he’s doing something different.

Loved Balvinder saying to the judges that they shouldn’t worry, they’ll see her jive again in the dance off! I think she’ll go next week.

It’s starting to really get to the business end of the series now. I can see Lewis, Karen and possibly Amber in the final with, hopefully, a win for Karen. I just can’t see Lewis winning however good he is. Like I’ve said before, the British public don’t like a ringer.

I want to see Karen do some proper slow elegant ballroom dances before deciding whether I want her in the final. She’s a bit one sided thus far.

I think Balvinder will go next week and George the following week in the semis.

I think he has had flashes of being really good, but more often, mediocre. I don’t think he knows Phantom, so that will be a disadvantage.

I have tried, but I just can’t get on board with Amber. She’s just too try hard somehow. It just feels like an act.

Knowing that the voting public is not really keen on “ringers” I would say that I’d prefer not to have Lewis plus Amber in the final because it would make it feel likely that the third contender, the non-ringer, would win.

Whereas if just one of them were in the final, plus Kaz AND George, there’d be some uncertainty/jeopardy.

Just wanted to respond to a comment on the previous thread that Karen hadn't demonstrated her ballroom skills – hasn't she done a quickstep and a tango?

Fair enough but she hasn’t done any slow controlled dances e,g waltz, foxtrot, Viennese waltz. Her AS was not really an AS it was too staccato. Carlos himself said ballroom was not her strength after the AS. .
