Agree with the others who would like Lewis to win too, Karen is just too spiky Carlos has her doing spins as she’s very rigid and they look good but for me she’s got no fluidity in her body and is good at the acrobatic stuff but too stiff Seems like it’s similar moves every week.

munchbunch12 · 02/12/2025 21:00

Sings and dances for Saturday...

Lewis & Katya Salsa to Dance at the Gym (Mambo) from West Side Story

Amber & Nikita Charleston to Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat from Guys & Dolls

George & Alexis Argentine Tango to Point of No Return from Phantom of the Opera

Balvinder & Julian Viennese Waltz to Never Enough from The Greatest Showman

Karen & Carlos Samba to The Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity

TellingBone · 02/12/2025 21:30

Looks really good!

I'm another in the Lewis fan club. We all have our reasons for our votes - some people just vote for whom they like, for instance. That's all fine by me.

I don't mind ringers so much. Without natural ability one can learn to dance but it lacks something. So I vote based upon natural ability and likeability. For instance I thought Layton was one of the best ever dancers but I didn't actually like him very much so he didn't get my vote.

Between those remaining:

Amber - is trained, has done well and has some natural ability but I feel no affinity
Balvinder - has done very well by working hard I think. Likeable but is outshone by the stand-out dancers. Out next.
George - very likeable and has learned a lot, but not sufficiently outstanding for me
Karen - Technically very good, and all credit to her for becoming so competent, but lacks that natural ability. Also lacks gracefulness. And I can't stand fake Carlos
Lewis - super talented with natural ability and very likeable. My winner.

Yes, I remember that - also Ashley Roberts (ringer but not winner) playing down her previous experience as a bit of jigging about with the Pussycat Dolls when it was pretty obvious she was a highly trained dancer.

She popped up on celebrity something else (I can't remember what now) after she had done Strictly and introduced herself as a dancer and singer, not a singer or a singer who has jigged about a bit.

Ringers would be slightly more palatable to me if the launch show or first week of ITT included biographies that made it clear how much dance experience people have. It's the lack of acknowledgement of what a massive advantage knowing how to learn a routine, knowing how to do certain fundamentals techniques like spotting that are common to pretty much all dance styles, knowing the importance of connection and musicality gives someone who has the good grasp of them has over someone who hasn't danced to a level that instills those skills in you.

Lewis and Amber have been given crowd-pleasing songs and dances.
George and Alexis might pull off that AT. I suspect it'll be good but not great, but the judges will overmark and overpraise it.
Just listened to a bit of Never Enough and it sounds like a generic pop ballad. I don't think it'll serve Balvinder well. She'll be lovely and expressive as usual, but I think the judges will pick apart her footwork.
The Rhythm of Life is a certified classic, but will it do well for Karen? I'm not sure. She's not always the most fluid mover. But it's a Fosse number, so if Carlos is smart he'll have made it Fosse-styled and it'll be deliberately angular and stylised. And I think she'll do quite well with the technique. But I'm not sure it's a crowd-pleaser.
I fear for Karen and Bal. I think it's so obviously weighted towards the other three staying in.

I don’t know, Karen has only been given fast/energetic dances so far. I think that favours her. Her AS, though a great dance, did not contain much Smooth.

Pashazade · 03/12/2025 08:54

The problem with Never Enough is going to be the singing……😁 depending on how they cut the song. But it’s nice and dramatic for a Viennese.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/12/2025 08:56

To be fair though The Greatest Showman and Never Enough were HUGE when they came out and for ages after. I wasn’t a fan but it was definitely a thing

Yes, very difficult to sing, easy to butcher

She'll have the energy, absolutely. But samba needs rhythm and flow and I'm not sure how she'll do with that.

Yes, true. I just think, surrounded by salsas and Charlestons and (presumably) an AT where they'll pull out all the stops with moody lighting and effects, a VW might seem to viewers/voters a bit dull.

Lottapianos · 03/12/2025 09:06

I'm absolutely Team Lewis too. He's really spectacular and him and Katya are fabulous together. Most of his dances have been brilliant, with some total stunners like Halloween week

Amber - brilliant dancer, but I get why she leaves some people cold. She seems to perform rather than really feel it

Karen - very inconsistent, some great weeks but some v disappointing

George - a few good weeks, but some stinkers too. Definitely not a winner!

KimberleyClark · 03/12/2025 09:10

Someone said in the last thread that George will win because of his huge online following. I am not sure whether that matters now it’s online voting only and people cannot vote gazillions of times by phone.

Jellyjellyonaplate · 03/12/2025 09:12

I think it's hard for Karen to do the slower ones because her back problem means she has a stiff hunched over body shape that she can't change. It's hard to fairly take that into account. I think that will lead to Bal going this week then Karen the next.

Karen also has dance experience so the only non ringers left are George and Bal! I'd like Karen to win though.

I think it was me. He has over 3 million followers , they don’t have to vote multiple times.

To put that in to context Lewis has less than 100k

But obviously they have to be rooting for him for it to be effective.

It was me. I suppose they just open multiple accounts. Since Karen displaced him as favourite I'm not as sure as I was.

SizeableBadBoys · 03/12/2025 11:49

What dance experience does Karen have? I must have missed that!

Edited

Vicky has 5 million followers, and the most out of anyone in the series, but that didn't save her.

I don't know how many of George's followers are invested in Strictly.

The article has been shared multiple times, including on this thread.

She danced as a child until she gave it up to concentrateon football. Things got serious from the age of 12 and she went to classes 3/4 times a week learning many styles includingn hip hop amd street dance, and competed in big events.

Shinyandnew1 · 03/12/2025 13:00

I think Bal will go Saturday. Hopefully Amber, Lewis and George for the final. I haven't taken to Karen at all-she doesn't seem anywhere near as natural as the others. I don't like the way her extensive dance experience has been downplayed as well.

EsmaCannonball · 03/12/2025 18:47

Flavia still looks straight out of a Fellini film.

Instead of all the filler on the Results Show they should go back to having demo dances.

There's far too much filler on the Results show. We don't need to hear what the judges thought for the 5th time!

I didn't start watching Strictly until Danny Mac's year, so I missed Flavia and Vincent as pros on the show. There hasn't been an outstanding, authentic Argentine Tango from a celeb for a while.

The BBC won't get the viewing figures and ratings of they do that.
It'll never happen.
