The trailer for the second series of The Night Manager has been released.

The first episode is set to air on 1 January 2026!

Anyone else can't wait for this? All the talk over the years about a second series and it's almost here!

And Series 3 has been given the greenlight, too.

Good point. I don’t think we saw his body did we?

How did Angela have his phone? Or did he leave it for her in the stationary shop?

bignewprinz · 02/02/2026 18:29

Well I bloody loved it. Not as good as series 1, but that will never be topped. Thrilled that Roper came out on top on this one, far more plausible than the gorgeously arrogant Pine winning the day again.

Teddy a turncoat? Not likely, that's the only bit I stuggled with. Plus Pine's tears when Teddy was shot - Teddy deserved to die, he was a cold-blooded murderer.

Laurie plays the perfect psychopath. Does anyone remember Lol's dad Mick in the This is England series? I think Roper is the first 'baddy' to really get under my skin, since Mick. I would struggle to separate the actor from the character now. Thick Prince Regent is wiped from my memory.

Pipsquiggle · 02/02/2026 18:43

So has series 3 already been filmed?
Does anyone know when it will be aired?

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 02/02/2026 20:03

Agree @bignewprinz. There's real menace about him together with charisma.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 02/02/2026 20:15

I think series 3 will see Danny find out that Roper murdered his half brother and become instrumental in his downfall.

They said on rhe radio this morning that it is in pre-production, not filming as yet.

I have not read the thread.
.I just wanted to know how anyone mentioned the inelegant way Johnny pine guzzles his champers?
Grabs the glass and strangely knocked it back ??

GellerYeller · 02/02/2026 22:32

We agreed a few weeks back that poor Angela was a target in that remote house.
Did her daughter see the assassin I wonder?
I think Roper winning this round was probably inevitable. Otherwise by series 3 it would lose all credibility like the Taken film sequels: ‘oops she’s gone again’.

FrothyCothy · 02/02/2026 23:02

Just finished it tonight. Really did not grab us at all and found Tom Hiddlestone to be weirdly wooden. A shame as loved the first one!

He had to as he had to give the impression he had a drink problem, was into drugs, etc. It was mentioned before one if his meetings with Teddy.

TheWildEyeBoyfromafreecloud · 03/02/2026 07:50

@theriseandfallofFranklinSaint yes I know re drink issue but could still put the glass to his lips in a more elegant manner and hold it

I think that was purposely done by Pine to indicate Matthew Ellis had a drink problem - which was one of the characteristics in Matthew Ellis' brief.

For a mother that lived an isolated life with her daughter, she didn’t appear to care for the daughter much.

Mr Angela was attacked when she lived in London and was pregnant in the first series....but i dont think he was actually dead, so I wonder what happened to him/how she came to live in the middle of nowhere. (In France)
It didnt look very convenient for getting to airports, or stations, to meet Basil or JP

I think they may be divorced, as in S 1 Angela let slip "It's not his fault I don't love him".
I honestly think Angela's character was terrible this season. Letting Roper go because you are being threatened? Cmon! But then not getting security in France, when Mayra actually threatened her?
Baffling.

She was just used for the plot and had no real point other than that.

She may as well have not been in it.

It felt like they had to work around Olivia Colman’s work schedule, her scenes seemed a little disjointed from the rest of the series.

I think the Dad must have been there, or someone, for her to go off to Colombia and London

ChopstickNovice · 03/02/2026 18:47

What I didn't get was how JP actually did all those drugs etc in one of those earlier episodes and lived through it! I think one of the characters even said "Omg how did you do that?!" But it was never explained.

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 03/02/2026 18:55

The next series needs to not have Tom Hiddleston in it

wonder if Basil has a really gorgeous son?

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 03/02/2026 18:56

or Mr Angela turn out to be Tom Hardy. Or Cillian Murphy.

Fizbosshoes · 03/02/2026 19:09

Ive got no objection to TH in a nice shirt but the fact he seems to have carried on while literally every single one of his colleagues, bar Sally, has met (or appeared to) a grisly end, and hes now run out of anyone to work with....just seems to stretch all credibility. The fact that he and Sally are still standing is pretty surprising given how indiscreet they were about being undercover in episodes 1 and 2....

RichardOnslowRoper · 03/02/2026 19:13

I think TH is as wooden as his name, and would like someone else. But he is the executive producer so he will be back in S 3. Probably allying with Daniel Roper.

I do want them to circle back to Jed.

I got the impression Basil wasn't the marrying kind, if you catch my drift.
