The trailer for the second series of The Night Manager has been released.

The first episode is set to air on 1 January 2026!

Anyone else can't wait for this? All the talk over the years about a second series and it's almost here!

And Series 3 has been given the greenlight, too.

Well that was a deeply disappointing ending.

TheGander · 01/02/2026 22:42

If there’s a series 3 I’m not watching.

God don't know what to think. Very unsatisfying infuriating episode. Don't they know we always want the good guys to win in the end? Also no explanation as to how roper infiltrated their plan they've obviously not worked that out yet

Roxanna was instrumental in Teddy's downfall. She told Roper that she hadn't fallen for Matthew Ellis but that someone else had. Roper took that to mean Teddy and I think Roxanna was meaning Teddy. That's when Roper knew that Pine had turned Teddy ☹️

NetZeroZealot · 01/02/2026 22:49

That was NOT the ending I wanted to see.

If they want a 3rd series then they could have let Pine win & left Roper alive.

How did he know to do 2 plane loads anyway?

Pipsquiggle · 01/02/2026 22:51

Will we have to wait another 10 years for the next series?
So annoyed by this ending and how all the decent people were killed

If there’s a series 3 I’m not watching.

Me neither.
Compared to series one, that was shite.

TheGander · 01/02/2026 23:00

All shade and no light, so the only thing you can do is disinvest emotionally. But I think that’s le Carré’s schtick. His father was a conman, although obviously not on Roper’s scale.

QuenchedSquirrel · 01/02/2026 23:01

I'm gutted about Teddy, but he had his arc and was obviously surplus to requirements.

I know there series 3 but I hate endings like this. I also feel overal generally dissatisfied with this series.

All the old guard are gone.

I think Roper will find his dream of living happy ever after with Danny short-lived.

Le Carré only wrote the story for season one and I think it really shows, the story just wasn’t as engaging. I’m not sure I’ll watch the next one. I enjoyed this season but feel let down by the ending.

TheGander · 01/02/2026 23:06

That’s true, season 2 was written by the guy who adapted season 1 for screen, if I remember correctly. But I think he said he tried to be true to LCs style.

Yes this - how did he know?

TheatreTheatre · 01/02/2026 23:29

Izzy24 · 01/02/2026 23:10

Yes this - how did he know?

He worked it out because Myra contacted him and told him to delay. Which she did because Angela, acting independently from Pine, had sent M the threatening text. So he knew the plane drop was threatened or r posed in some way.

SizeableBadBoys · 01/02/2026 23:38

Well, I loved it. It was a slow start and Le Carre's absence was noticed. But it did pick up and I though the ending was great, but only because we know there is a 3rd series coming (and not in 10 years time). I do love TH as Jonathan Pine, I think he is excellent (but I still haven't forgiven him irl for the I❤TS vest).

Donotgogentle · 02/02/2026 04:25

Izzy24 · 01/02/2026 23:10

Yes this - how did he know?

Decoy trick he’d remembered from Season 1 I reckon.

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2026 06:35

It's like the Star Wars trilogy and this is our The Empire Strikes Back.

Glittergargoyle · 02/02/2026 07:20

NunsOnTheRum · 01/02/2026 22:10

Apparently a third series already underway. Series 3 predictions - Roper and Roxanna are together, Pine goes nuclear to avenge Angela, Teddy & Martin’s deaths and kills Roper. Pine turns Danny on Roper.

I think Roxana is much more the type of woman a man like Roper would be interested in and him her type.

Mayra clearly threatened Angela with 'i'll visit you in France'.

Fizbosshoes · 02/02/2026 07:20

Now they've killed off just about everyone how will pine continue in series 3. Hes literally got Sally ...but noone "on the inside" to work with...Confused

Middleagemoper · 01/02/2026 22:40

@ChopstickNovice me too! I AM SO CROSS! I hate the smug baddies winning. Poor Teddy, private investigator and Angela. (As well as poor old Basil.) Too many good guys down. Very very depressing. I feel too wound up to sleep! I’m not sure I have the capacity for another series.

Was just thinking I should rewatch S1 and forget S2 existed!

ChopstickNovice · 02/02/2026 07:32

I'm really hoping Angela Burr won't actually be dead.

PuppyMonkey · 02/02/2026 07:35

I think the actor playing Teddy will become a big star. Smile

RIP to… everyone.Grin

MayIDestroyYou · 02/02/2026 07:40

That would be a hope too far, surely? (Though it would be a neat reference to the start of S2!)

It isn’t uncommon for the middle section of a trilogy to end with the bad triumphant - but I agree that the prospect of no Angela in the final story is quite miserable.

She has to pop up halfway through series 3

LittleBitofBread · 02/02/2026 08:13

Agree Roper knew to do a decoy plane because Roxana said 'someone else' had fallen for Matthew Ellis, and he knew she meant Teddy. He was already lukewarm on Teddy, with his bitchy comments about him not being 'fit for civilised society' and calling Danny his 'only son'.
I agree with a pp Danny will contribute to Roper's downfall next season. Deliberately or not, I don't know.
Don't know how Pine will operate without Angela/someone on the inside. Can they just reassign the work to someone else? Is it possible Angela isn't dead?

RK800 · 02/02/2026 08:19

I’m still holding out hope that Basil is still alive!

Clearinguptheclutter · 02/02/2026 08:34

I suppose there is at least a space for Sally to be his main ally in s3
