The trailer for the second series of The Night Manager has been released.

The first episode is set to air on 1 January 2026!

Anyone else can't wait for this? All the talk over the years about a second series and it's almost here!

And Series 3 has been given the greenlight, too.

I dont really think he can act at all.

Go see him in the theatre - he's a proper stage a tor.

Miranda65 · 02/02/2026 08:43

Well, I loved it. And it had to end the way it did, because of Series 3. I agree with the poster who made the Teddy/Jesus comparisons.
And whilst I'm a big fan of Tom H, I have to say that High Laurie was the real star of the show..... just brilliant.

She has to pop up halfway through series 3
" Ey up" Grin

That would be nice, but she had a bullet through the head ☹️

Wasn't she shot in the chest?
Might make her 0.000001% more likely to still be alive...!

PistachioTiramisu · 02/02/2026 09:03

I love High Laurie's voice!

Could someone please explain to me who it was who injured Pine - I have to fast forward through violent scenes so miss quite a bit!

Also what happened to Roxanna? Was she just left at the house in Colombia?

I wonder how true to life the apparent unrest in Colombia is. I was invited to go to a wedding there this year but turned it down - too far to go and very expensive!

It was either roper or one of the Columbian rebels when pine jumped forward when teddy was shot.

She was shown at the airport at the end on her way back to Miami

Yes she was shot in the chest.

Agree Hugh Laurie was sensational.

I just can't get over that he killed his own son yet left Pine alive. I'm devastated Teddy died. More so than Angela.

I loved the tender scenes with Pine and Teddy.

AuntyAngela · 02/02/2026 10:32

Well that was a disappointing ending. I also feel it waa tipping into the arena of farcical. Angela made her moves far too early, which seems a mistake she wouldn't have made given her experience.

I'm most saddened by the private detective's death. Really like him. Well his and Basil's death.

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2026 10:43

@AuntyAngela yes that was a really stupid mistake for Angela to make given her history with Roper. Very disappointing but guess it's all set up for Pine/Roper showdown in series 3.

Pine certainly gets a lot of good people killed.

NunsOnTheRum · 02/02/2026 10:46

Just read an interview with the producer. She was asked why Angela had let herself be gunned down after Myra’s threat. She replied to something along the lines of ‘as you’ll see in Season 3 Angela was very busy in that time period’. Which makes me think they may go back in time and cover what happened to Angela leading up to her assassination.

Also, we know Angela is dead, we saw a body, but we didn’t see Basil’s body and when communicating between Sally and Basil Angela typed that Basil was unavailable. Did Basil mysteriously survive and he and Angela lay the groundwork to set up Pine to go after Myra and Roper? Pine will need more than Sally to assist him. There’s also a few characters from Season 1, Simon Ogilvy? who could be brought back to assist Pine.

I wondered if Teddy really was his son. Or just a kid in an orphanage that he groomed to be his dog-faithful second in command as he was the one who got so excited by his visits.

Tonissister · 02/02/2026 10:51

Well I hope they bring back Diego Santos as Martin Alvarez, the totally calm, capable local private detective who is the one who actually saved everyone, took the risk of spying at close quarters for days on end, and did all the graft of finding out what was really going on, while Pine just changed his shirt and had lunch with people while speaking very slowly.

Alvarez was my favourite character in the entire series.

Cheeseisneeded · 02/02/2026 10:51

Myra said " see you in France"
So a clear threat.

My feeling is Angela is not daft, she would protect herself at all costs for her daughter

Calling it now
She was wearing a bullet proof vest, minor wound and survives to carry on taking down Myra and Roper

See you all for series 3 !

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2026 10:52

@NunsOnTheRum that's interesting about Basil. You're right that we never saw Basil's body. I would love Basil to still be alive. That would be awesome if Basil and Angela had been working together behind the scenes and Basil is the one to bring down Myra.

Edited

Martin was killed wasn't he? So Pine and Tavo could get away.

Agree though that he was brilliant at the whole undercover operation and Pine would have got nowhere without him.

MayIDestroyYou · 02/02/2026 10:55

We began S2 with a fake death - so I guess it’s not unreasonable to hope and pray that at least one of those murdered may be miraculously resurrected in S3. Otherwise it’s all just too sad.

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2026 11:05

I find it interesting that Teddy is getting so much love both here and on social media as in the first couple of episodes we weren't keen on Teddy at all.

NunsOnTheRum · 02/02/2026 11:19

Teddy always had the beautiful puppy dog eyes but never the innocent, adoring persona to match. But when Teddy showed his vulnerability, his childhood pain, his loyalty to Pine, it was easy to forgive him for his misdemeanors, even though he did murder an innocent Prosecutor, and reposition him as another of evil Roper’s victims. Plus his boyish good looks help!

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 02/02/2026 11:32

Basil and Angela are definitely gone. Jonathan will survive and will want to avenge their deaths, with Tavo and Sarah helping him. The private detective was amazing. I wonder if he has actually survived, he was a wily guy? Teddy's sister may shelter them. Roxana will be back as she owes her return to Miami to Roper.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 02/02/2026 11:33

Teddy was a thug, albeit a misguided one.

I loved the tender scenes with Pine and Teddy.

DD was indignant, that they "could have easily snuck in a kiss" in the scene where Teddy goes into Pine and tends to his wounds.
(DH main comment of that scene, was that the cloth was probably dirty - he was mid being tortured, I imagine the cloth was the least of his worries! 🤣)

Agree Roper killing his own son was horrific
(Not even getting one of his henchmen to take him away to do it)

Since they have no agent on the ground in London I'm wondering if maybe Sandy could have been turned.....and then work against Roper....

Ooh, that's an idea! He is a weak man, and I can imagine him being turnable.

Clearinguptheclutter · 02/02/2026 13:15

I’ve got a question. At the very beginning of
s2 there was a flash forward (or perhaps flash back) scene to JP asking out his neighbour I think

could that be the end of s3 do we think? I’m not sure how the timeline fits in

PrincessScarlett · 02/02/2026 13:33

@Clearinguptheclutter the neighbour asked Pine out and he fobbed her off.
