The trailer for the second series of The Night Manager has been released.

The first episode is set to air on 1 January 2026!

Anyone else can't wait for this? All the talk over the years about a second series and it's almost here!

And Series 3 has been given the greenlight, too.

I am assuming a dramatic scene where he tries to kill daddy but can’t, then roper lets him die or kills him

I've just realised I have always thought Hugh Laurie and James Nesbitt were the same person. Now I do have difficulty recognising people I don't actually know and meet frequently and recalling their names correctly - i just had to scroll up to recall Laurie's name!!. (Clearly accents do not help. ) But this does explain why the Laurie/Nesbit hybrid that lives in my head swung from being brilliant in some things to atrocious acting in others.

These are not the frst actors I've made this mixup with. Starting to wonder if I actually work with more people than I think i do 🤔

TH was interviewed on This Morning earlier this week and promised ‘a big finish’ in this next episode. Also that there is another series planned as this storyline was 12 parts originally. So perhaps there will be some threads that carry over.

I think that's really bizarre. I can't think of a single thing those two people have in common, let alone you thinking they were the same person.
Have you got prosopagnosia?

I am now making a mental list of who else you get mixed up : Judi Dench and Margot Robbie? Chris Hemsworth and Colin Firth?

Don't know about prosopagnosia. I do recognise family and close friends. (Though i just looked up prosopagnosia and the imagine at the top og Goole would be similar to what's in my head if i think of fanily or close friends).

Generally once I've spoken to someone a several times for a while (and essentially met them in different places) I'm ok with recognising people. Might not recall their names though 🤔

Can't tell you which actors I mix up really, as mix them up! Plus I might not yet know they are two people 🤣. I'll check the cast list in the films i know I've got wrong. Ok so,

• Always think Leslie Neilson was Steve Martin
• Struggle initially with getting Julie Walters and Paulie Collins names right (don't think they are the same person though).
• Matt Damon and Leanardo DiCaprio i don'tknow which is which.. Add Mark Walhbergh in the same film and I struggle to see a difference between them all.

I don't exactly think Julie Walters and Pauline Collins are the same person, but I have to think hard about which one is which).
I'm currently watching Mary & George and Sean Gilder is in it. I swear there's another actor who looks a lot like him and plays smiler roles (gritty, often working-/underclass types). I thought it was Paddy Considine, but on googling him I see he's nothing like SG. Who the feck am I thinking of?

I relate to the 1st and 3rd mix ups between actors you mention here. Quite similar

I saw Paddy in a restaurant and thought he was my school bully. I swaggered past him, and he looked up and I gave him a murderous look. Very pleased with myself for playing it so cool. It was a few seconds later I realised he wasn’t my school bully and twigged who it was. Sorry Paddy.

@LittleBitofBread Sean Gilder played a character called Paddy Maguire in Shameless. Is that maybe why your brain is connecting him with a Paddy?

Just watched the finale - they release it in the morning of Sunday so last two weekends we’ve laid in bed and watched it! All I can say is Wow! And there will be a 3rd series which I can’t wait for! I will say this series was a bit slow at first but when Roper came back it picked up & now I see how the next series will continue!! Get watching people!

I’ve been actively resisting watching it since I woke up this morning. But I’m clearly not on my way to the cinema, even though I have a ticket, so I guess that’s what this afternoon is for.

I loved him as loki. I was going to avoid those films in case he was just dull Tom H but he really was a very good baddie. Not that convincing in this but I will watch to see what Basil had hidden in Smiths and if jolly hockey sticks Roper's poor dogs are avenged.

TH was excellent as Loki. And the Loki TV series just cemented what a complicated and witty villain he was. I'm enjoying him as Jonathan Pine but TH as Loki is my all time favourite Marvel character.

I love him as Loki too, but only in the Thor films. I think Loki is better as an antagonist with someone to play off than as the central character.
He is a bit dull as Pine, but for me that's part of the point: Pine is meant to be quite characterless and unmemorable so he can keep assuming new identities and no one will know. The scene where his neighbour brings the cat back was excellent, I thought, because you could see how he can 'pass' in everyday life as a pleasant but fairly unremarkable man.

Yes you're right his apparently nice guy image is obviously what foils people.
I hope he turns tonight I did like the motorbike chase bit and shooting the baddies. Let just hope there's no very unsexy threesome dance scenes 🫣.
