Jay’s school was at performing arts school not just a dance school - drama had as much of a focus and it would be combined with the school curriculum. I’m not sure where it ranks amongst similar schools. He didn’t go onto higher education at RADA or other theatre school. The drama schools all teach dance and some music as well, even if its not in the institution name. Its fair to assume than anyone who has done degree level will have covered all three but likely to be focused on the dance and drama as these maximise job opportunities.
Danny Mac also went to a theatre school/college for his latter school years but then did a degree and post graduate training in performing. Overall I’d say he had a fair bit more training and professional performance experience (and he was a few years older/more experienced).
I’d say neither are remotely as ringerish as Layton who must be one of the ringiest ringers of all time, but Danny had more relevant training and more experience at the point of competing. I’d see Jay more akin to Karen - did a higher level during school years than most school children but never danced (or did musicals) professionally.
Maybe Danny would be “Ringer-lite”. I’m not sure how much dance was in his musical experience and some roles have no dance whilst others are primarily dance.
