I quite liked Chris Hollins *waits to be chased off thread with pitchforks!

But if there is even a hint of bringing back Tom smuggy Chambers then I'll be cancelling my TV licence immediately.

Edited

He's too busy on tour playing Inspector Morse.

EsmaCannonball · 14/11/2025 17:58

And Claudia Fragapane is still Maeby Fünke to me.

Don't tell me Inspector Morse: the Musical! exists! Are there songs called 'There's Been a Murder, Lewis' and 'You'll Have to Get This Round, Lewis'?

FuzzyPuffling · 14/11/2025 18:04

I don't remember Danny Mac at all. He really has escaped my consciousness, and I've been a strictly- watcher since series 1.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/11/2025 17:58

@xsquaredKara, Alesha, Ali, Ramps, just off the top of my head

Ah, I would have loved to have seen them the first time around, but didn't own a TV at the time, so just watch on YouTube. It feels like they're from another era, which I suppose they are.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/11/2025 18:07

@xsquaredim very much about vintage Strictly. Abbey Clancy is another I’d pick.

Murder on the Dancefloor!

LittleBitofBread · 14/11/2025 18:20

Also Colin Jackson. His AS and rumba were tremendous.

Thank gawd for that. Bet they'll be a tapdance shoehorned in somewhere.

@xsquared I'd love to see Natasha, Jill, Alisha and Ramps as winners and as non winners Anita, Zoe, Gethin, Austin and Debbie. And just to push my luck I'd like them to be paired with their original pros too.

I loved Colin Jackson. Such a shame about his show dance, with those awful dolls.

I know Sad it's slightly tainted his Strictly legend.
He did win the Xmas Special though, which I felt was a kind of redemption.

I didn't mind Chris he was a happy soul and Ola's distraction techniques are legendary.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 14/11/2025 19:38

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/11/2025 17:12

by contrast I still feel that Ricky and Natalie and Brian and Ali were robbed

I agree. Bloody Chris Hollins! That said no-one could dance around a man quite as well as Ola.

As well as previously mentioned dances, Danny and Oti did a fantastic Viennese Waltz to Never Tear Us Apart (INXS?). VW can be a bit boring but Oti's choreography was dramatic and stunning.

bizzey · 15/11/2025 08:23

Talking of returning contestants ..

I would have loved for AJ to have come back and done her finals dance !

I know she has been tied up with BB for the past r few weeks , and Kai is with Vicky ..

But I always feel we were cheated out of one final dance from AJ. ☹️.

I have to say , some of you have incredible memories of previous contestants and their dances !!

I can just about remember hazy snippets ! 😅...(If an hour before !)

Now you’re talking!
We wuz robbed!

AJ is up there with one of Strictly’s best absolutely-non-ringery contestants ever.
In my opinion, her Jive to Gold Dust was the best opener to a brand new series with a then unknown pro in strictly history.
I remember being a tad confused as to who was the pro and who was the contestant having walked in from another room, she was that good.
So I’d love to see her perform that, and her Charleston (up there with the best, with proper Charleston era music) and their Couple’s Choice which totally blew my mind.
While I’m at it, I’d also like her mum Florence in the audience, beaming her huge smile and clapping away at just being there, soaking it all in.
Thank you 😌

NowNumber5 · 15/11/2025 09:20

Can I also add, my above opinion is NOT at all, in no way whatsoever, persuaded by the fact that this was of course, the first ever time I had clapped eyes on Strictly Kai… no siree…

ChessieFL · 15/11/2025 09:43

DD and I were just saying that we would love to see AJ and Kai’s showdance. I bet it would have been brilliant. Such a shame she never got to do it.

They also did, I think, an American Smooth where there was a pier on the set and she leapt off it into his arms.

kazzaD66 · 15/11/2025 09:49

Yes, Oti must have had great trust in Danny to do that!

WarrenTofficier · 15/11/2025 09:50

I do find it telling that all the returning 'icons' are ringers. Presumably dance has remained part of their lives (just as it was before Strictly) and so they are good to go again whereas the non dancers are probably very very rusty years after their Strictly experience. I would love to know how many celebs that didn't dance before Strictly have kept it up say 5 years on.

Lottapianos · 15/11/2025 09:54

Oh gosh yes, AJ Odudu was fabulous. It was so gutting that she couldn't dance in the final

Danny Mac's American Smooth with the pier jumping ending is such a beautiful dance, one of my favorites ever. Well worth looking up on YT

Other past stunners - Natalie Gumede (and Artem), and Denise Lewis (and Ian Waite)

kazzaD66 · 15/11/2025 09:49

Yes, Oti must have had great trust in Danny to do that!

My favourite ever Strictly dance! But I still didn't vote ringer.
The trust must have been off the chart - Danny wasn't some strapping ex rugby pro or gladiator, he wasn't much bigger than Oti.

ChessieFL · 15/11/2025 10:17

She properly went for it too, didn’t she - it wasn’t just jumping off, she ran up and hurled herself a good few feet away from the end of the pier before he caught her.

It was like the 'bombing' forbidden in the council pool of my youth.
