Of those four I’d say only Jay stands out as the others were def ringers

thought that Danny Mac samba was glorious

Jay also went to dance school though before Stricy so he counts as a ringer.

mydogisthebest · 14/11/2025 10:14

Jay, Layton and Danny were 3 of my favourite ever Strictly contestants. Still annoyed that Danny did not win his year.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 14/11/2025 10:27

I guess it comes down to personal taste but for me Ashley and Leyton do not enter my head when I think of Strictly icons. I would love to see some very early winners back Natasha, Jill, Mark and Alisha would be great. Although I appreciate they are two decades older now and the dancing may not be as fluid as it was!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/11/2025 11:16

We are very aligned @AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta

He did, but i think because he comes over as quiet or a bit shy he got away with it.

Most of the acting/singing celebs went to performing arts schools. Jay was in a boy band by 19 and I’m not aware of any professional dance experience before Strictly. If anyone attending performing arts schools or doing dance at school age is a ringer that makes most of the celebs ringers.
Layton on the other hand had years of professional dance experience and dance teaching experience before Strictly. I wouldn’t put Jay/Layton are in the same category experience wise.

firstofallimadelight · 14/11/2025 11:36

I think it will be George and Lewis in the final with either Vicki or Amber (depending how voting goes) la voix is currently the weakest dancer closely followed by balvinder. And Alex isn’t that strong either (although I feel johannes isn’t helping as much as I love him)

Quite.

Danny Mac had musical theatre roles as Gavroche when he was a child and again as an understudy in Wicked. He went to RADA.

I would hazard a guess that Jay had more dance experience at his prestigious dance school than Danny Mac did, so in my opinion, they're probably just as ringery as each other.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 14/11/2025 12:27

I too can't remember any of the dances Layton or Ashley did on the show. Jill's jive, DVO's Charleston amongst others, yes. It can't be about whether the professional is still on the show either as Danny was partnered with Oti.

GuyForksAndKnives · 14/11/2025 12:29

Ashley was brilliant.

Coffeeishot · 14/11/2025 12:47

I liked Ashley, I know she got stick for being in the PCD but I thought she was great, I can't remember who won her year though.

Coffeeishot · 14/11/2025 12:48

The Internet told me it was Stacey Dooley who won that year.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 14/11/2025 12:58

Laytons weird highly sexualised pole dance effort sticks in my mind

ChessieFL · 14/11/2025 13:05

I still watch Ashley’s jive, and I remember her showdance too (leaping on and off a revolving platform). I don’t recall any of Layton’s dances .

Lottapianos · 14/11/2025 13:06

'DVO's Charleston'

DVO was a totally fabulous dancer. Their showdance in the final was stunning. Similar situation to Amber this year - fabulous dancer, hard worker, total ringer but no chance of winning because people can't 'warm' to her 😏

Coffeeishot · 14/11/2025 11:26

I think also he was quite eclipsed during his year by Kellie Bright, who seemed to be a judges favourite. I can't remember which dance Jay did the week after that Jive but it wasn't great and the judges panned it. Think he may have been hoovering near the bottom of the LB too. So he had more of the notorious Strictly "journey" rather than churning out bangers week after week.

Coffeeishot · 14/11/2025 12:48

And she wasn't as good as anyone else in the final.

I’ve just come to the realisation that Vicky has prob been engineered to win & prob has always been from the start. I don’t know if I can cope watching if so! I feel it’s lost its way too & what used to feel like Strictly magic might just be too difficult to recover & recreate now. Sadly.

What makes you think that? The last thing Strictly needs is another scandal about the show being fixed.

While I suspect judges may be inconsistent with some contestants, going from showering with praise one week to tearing them apart the next, I would find it hard to believe the public vote has been rigged.

Having said that. If we are to go by popularity votes, then those who have more social media presence will be at an advantage. Vicky has 5.5 million followers and more than 8 times as many as George Clarke on Instagram. It's not impossible for her never to land a dance off and eventually outvote everyone at the end.

GuyForksAndKnives · 14/11/2025 14:01

And she wasn't as good as anyone else in the final.

But I think that's the audience choosing the person who started the series a total beginner

I really hope she doesn't.

No, I mean she was fine but I was a bit meh about her winning.

Best typo ever. I love the idea of Jay hoovering up at the end of the show Grin

🤦😂.
Maybe he recreated the Queen video for I Want To Break Free every Saturday!

bizzey · 14/11/2025 15:39

Nobody has mentioned about Karen being in the final .

I would rather Karen was there , than Amber .
