None of these are icons IMO.
Jay did a good jive, but that was all. His showdance was terrible IIRC. I love Oti but for some reason I didn't enjoy watching Danny Mac. Ashley was just a pro dancer and so didn't have the Strictly factor for me. Layton is highly annoying and another uber-ringer.
How about bringing back Chris Hollins? Or John Barnes doing his salsa? It was the one good dance he had in him, bless him, but it really was good.
Jill Halfpenny may be older now, but she did loads of dance as a child and into adulthood, so I reckon she's in fine fettle still.
I'd like to see Faye's CC again, although of course her partner was Giovanni, so they'd need someone else.
And Zoe Ball's samba from the final. Or ballroom tango. That would also mean bringing back Ian Waite, yay!
And Mark and Karen's AT or their (underrated) samba.
Debbie McGee was a ringer, and I didn't generally enjoy her that much, but her AT was mind-blowing. Again, though, there's the Giovanni issue.

I’d like to think she will be, she deserves to be, she’s had two of my votes every week from the start, but if she has a bad week and ends up next to any of the others except Bal or LV in the DO, it might not go her way.

@LittleBitofBread are we the same person? Because I 💯agree with your post. Marks Samba would definitely get 10s these days (and fully deserve them). It's crazy that he and Karen didn't get a single 10 until their AT in the semis (or was it the quarters, can't remember) when they are handed out like smarties these days.

And generally I am anti ringer but I loved Debbie too.

I'm sure they actually 'only' got 9s for their AT, and yes, it was in the semifinal (I remember Arlene slamming the desk and yelling, 'Semifinal, this is what it's about!').
Those were the days when people really had to earn the high marks!

I don't know actually, I didn't start watching it until after her season. I don't think they went on so much about where they were from/being 'dead normal'/ having dead nans/having kids etc in general in the earlier days though.

Well, he won, so viewers/voters clearly liked him!

I was very happy when Chris Hollins won. I liked his partnership with Ola and loved his Charleston and show dance. It was a triumph for the complete underdog and ordinary man in the street, whilst still being entertaining. Plus, I thought Ricky Whittle was too cocky.

OK, but, if we're being democratic, people voted for him. Personally I've no interest in seeing Jay, Danny Mac, Ashley Roberts or Layton again.

OK, all I'm saying is you can't please all of the people all of the time <<shrug>>

So some people don't want to see Chris Hollins - the ultimate underdog Strictly Champion, and some people don't want to see Jay, Danny, Layton or Ashley - the Ringer Ringers. So who do people think of as iconic enough to want to see again?

I loved Jay's jive, of course, but I also loved his Blackpool salsa and his tango. His paso, rumba and AS were enjoyable too. Danny Mac; loved his AS, quickstep, Charleston and cha cha. Enjoyed his jive. I still haven't got over the semi-final when his AS (my favourite of all time) and Claudia Fragapane's brilliant quickstep ended up in the bottom two. Made me question democracy.
