I think Nick voted to end game after Joe had been banished as he suspected there were 3 traitors
Jonathan , Cat and Joe
So no way there would be 4 traitors

NetZeroZealot · 07/11/2025 09:07

I’m a big fan of David’s history programmes & think he’s an excellent presenter, but I didn’t think the Traitors was a good medium for him.

I genuinely can’t work out how Nick, an intelligent and insightful man, could have thought Joe was a traitor given he was the (only) one who for the first few episodes was constantly trying to oust Jonathan the only person they knew by the final was actually a traitor. It would have been a bold traitor move to keep voting for a fellow traitor from the off.

I think Nick was confused, as was I, by Joe talking to him earlier in the day about voting off David. He said the traitors were Alan and Cat, why on earth would you discuss voting David off first. That fucks up your maths. You’re taking it down to 2v2 completely unnecessarily. Even if you’re not sure about David, Joe was so sure about Alan and Cat that the only half rational thing to do is vote them off first while you have the numbers. If I was Nick, and Joe had said “the traitors are Alan and Cat, but let’s vote out David” I’d have wondered what on earth he was talking about.

CaveMum · 07/11/2025 09:24

I don’t think Claudia will agree to host another Celeb version unless they have another proper group of A listers. She has said in several interviews that she didn’t want to do a Celeb version at all and it was only seeing the list of those agreeing to do it that persuaded her.

I’m sure there will have been plenty of “proper” celebs lined up for the first series that couldn’t do it due to scheduling conflicts and will be even more up for doing S2.

Nah, class isn’t fluid. If you grow up working class, as David most definitely did, fame and fortune don’t suddenly change your class.

Wayne Rooney is still working class. Andrew Windsor could have his assets seized and be offered a council house and he would remain steadfastly upper class. Takes at least a generation to change.

But I digress. What a show! Thrilled for Alan. Don’t like Joe Marler.

Edited

So you’re saying milllionaires are working class??! Nah! It is fluid. Their roots will always be working class but they’re very much not living working class lives.

herbaltincture · 07/11/2025 09:27

What a wonderful ending to such a fun season. I was convinced Joe would get them organised to vote out Alan and Cat, so just resigned myself towards that eventuality. Really enjoyed them running up the hill from the exploding train with their shining faces!

I didn't like Joe and thought the Traitors were idiots for leaving him and Nick in to the end - but that worked out amazingly well. So pleased for Alan. He was a joy to watch and really made the season for me. Good charity too.

Yes I would be angry!

As I said I go to games meetups in real life. The games are similiar to how the Traitors is played.

No money is involved. People still get angry at each other and fall out at these games

Because people don't like being fooled and lied to

If someone doesn't like being lied to, they shouldn't play a game where that's the entire point. If you take part in something like this, you need to be mature enough to handle it. Most people on the Traitors understand it's a game, especially on a celeb version where it's all raising money for good causes. It's so ridiculous for someone to go on a show that only works on the basis that people need to lie and fool one another and then complain about being lied to and fooled! It's fun watching people take it in the right spirit, less so when they get all salty about it.

Cappibarra · 07/11/2025 09:30

Lou7171 · 07/11/2025 06:50

You're still working class.

People think David is middle class because he is educated and well spoken, so mumsnetters can't get their heads around someone being working class and displaying these traits 😂

Anyway, I'm glad Alan won. He was the most entertaining and I think the tears were genuine, he looked like a nervous wreck at the end!

But what are you criteria for that?? If you met me you wouldn't say that, I guarantee you'd say I was middle class at face value - so are you saying you stay which class your parents were when you're born and stay that all your life, regardless of circumstance? But my children are middle class and will be all their lives, even though I'm working class?

Totally agree! You cannot go on the traitors and be angry someone lied to you. If you are, you aren’t mature enough to play

ETA - on the non-celeb version there is more anger. But I think it’s generally anger at losing the money and the situation, rather than actually genuinely thinking that the person has done something wrong for lying in a game where you are required to lie.

Holluschickie · 07/11/2025 09:34

The US versions are full of pathetic influencer and reality show types who cry when the traitors lie to them. Lots of weeping and " I trusted you". Hope that doesn't come to the UK.

Agree. He reminded me of the English vaguely royal guy who was in the American Traitors and so clearly wasn't a celeb in the way the others were. He was just a normal low-key guy with none of the wattage needed for that show. With David, it kind of worked in the end because he was both useless as a traitor hunter and useful as a target, but he wasn't good TV in the way the others really were. His self-consciousness puts you on edge whereas the performers and especially the 'people person' types like Jonathan and Alan really shine.

JoeMarlerseyes · 07/11/2025 09:35

i was annoyed by Alan's wailing. he seemed to love being a traitor.

ShesTheAlbatross · 07/11/2025 08:41

Here is my list (I don’t care if some wouldn’t do it, I’ve not factored that in)

Graham Norton
Andy Murray
Bob Mortimer
French & Saunders (either or both)
One of the lionesses, but I can’t name any
Someone like Zoe Ball or Sara Cox
Stephen Graham
James Acaster
Dara O’Briain
Davina McCall
Keira Knightley
Matt Smith
Emma Thompson
A couple of older famous sports stars along the lines of Steve Redgrave, Paula Radcliffe (by older I just mean retired from sport a while ago, I know they aren’t old!!)
And then a couple of younger people I wouldn’t know (I didn’t know Nico, Ruth, or Cat)

No politicians. No one “divisive” (absolutely no Piers Morgan types!)

Imagine Andy Murray agreeing to do it 😂😂😂

I thought the Miranda Hart suggestion earlier was a good one. She'd be a scream.

Clearinguptheclutter · 07/11/2025 09:38

It’s true that they got a pretty good crop of decent celebrities for this, def better then the current strictly lot.

given that I don’t think anyone’s profile has been badly damaged by this I’d hope the next celebrity installment will have another good crop

while I’d prefer to see real celebrities it would be good entertainment value to get an (ex) politician.
Matt Hancock would be up for it I’m sure.
i’d really hope they give Emma Thompson a call. Agree on Michael Macintyre. Someone from Downton Abbey. Dame Laura Kenny. Alex Jones. Hugh Laurie.

i LOVE Claudia but I think she’s wasted on this - far too scripted and not able to show her personality at all, or interact with the others.
She’d be a fab contestant

This is a really niche thing to say but I can't stand the way David hisses his s sounds at the end of words and can't watch him for that reason. E.g "words" is "wordsssssss"

But then I am admittedly weird like that.

I think it's more about identity and perspective than anything. Some people will grow up working class but later identity as middle class because of the way in which their lives have evolved. Others may continue to identify as working class throughout their lives, even if they live distinctly middle class lifestyles and have children who would undoubtedly be regarded as middle class. It isn't an exact science and there are no hard and fast criteria.

Clearinguptheclutter · 07/11/2025 09:41

Rob Brydon would be a great call. Ditto Miranda Hart.

I love Claudia too, but only really started liking her as a result of Traitors as I hadn't really watched her in much else. I loved her love of Celia in this series!

MrsKateColumbo · 07/11/2025 09:41

I enjoyed David, he's not a big Performing personality and I feel like he was just himself, it's nice having a normal low key type person. I also enjoyed that he was very smart but in a way thinking too much and looking for logic/reason when there is none

There’s nothing middle class about David Olusoga.

Yes, exactly. He was born in Lagos and grew up on a council estate in Gateshead where the National Front attacked his family's house. He's a perfectly good broadcaster about history -- I haven't read any of his books. He's not precisely an academic in the usual sense, despite holding a professorship at Manchster, in that he doesn't have a doctorate (apart from honorary ones), and after a history degree from Liverpool, he did an MA in broadcast journalism at Leeds, and has always been primarily a broadcaster about history, specialising in imperial history and slavery.

But it's really interesting to me that so many people on these threads seem to see him as (1) from a privileged background and (2) regarding himself as an intellectual giant, only to be humbled by the fact that he turned out to not be very good at playing the game. He patently isn't. Does RP make people assume things?

Someone referred on the last thread to a 'WC rugby player versus two Oxbridge graduates', but neither Nick nor David are Oxbridge graduates. David has degrees from Leeds and Liverpool universities, Nick had a place at Cambridge but didn't attend, and then dropped out of a doctorate there.

Similar thing with Stephen Fry. Clare Balding has exactly the same educational qualifications as him (both have a 2.1 in English from Cambidge). Yet no one seems to think of Clare as unusually intelligent.

How about

Sue Barker
Vicky McClure
Bradley Walsh
Josh Widdecombe
Alexander Armstrong
Sarah Lancashire

with some younger people (I can't help there as I don't know any!).

MrsMitford3 · 07/11/2025 09:43

I think Cat's behaviour was very classy about Joe-saying he played well etc and that it's a game and even more so as she lost much more being that close to the final-versus Ruth's ranting about Jonathan being a snake etc. and not really behaving in the spirit of the game.

If you are going on a Celebrity Traitors game it's not personal!!!

Holluschickie · 07/11/2025 09:46

Not watched Traitors Uncloaked yet,.but I have no time for Ruth, and the massive chip on her shoulder.
Cat came out very well and I hope her career benefits.

1dayatatime · 07/11/2025 09:48

Kate Garroway has to go down as the most clueless contestant- I will always remember her trying to work out the traitors based on who did and didn't have the sun dried tomatoes.
