Second celebrity season confirmed for next year: https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2025/the-celebrity-traitors-2-plus-impact-report

Although it would have been more surprising at this point if it had NOT been confirmed. Let's hope they can keep up the quality of celebrities.

I really hope they maintain a decent range of celebs (albeit they are all media based celebs). The range of ages and different areas of entertainment made for quite a good mix with most were at the upper end of their specialism.
I’d be disappointed if it degraded into yet another retirement home for former politicians, reality stars notable for nothing other than reality shows and small part soap stars who don’t have a Summer season booking.

Yeah, might do a few months of Apple TV at some point and watch all the things!

Quite a lot of electrical purchases offer three or six months free trial. I tried the six month free trial when it was new and still have it. Its probably the service we use most amongst the family.

The catalog is not as big as Prime or Netflix but the quality is higher. I’ve flicked through the acres of Prime catalog and found nothing to watch whereas I watch a lot of the Apple catalog. Not sure if its a deliberate policy to go for quality over quantity but it works for me.

CaveMum · 10/11/2025 19:25

Nick did an interview with the Times Magazine and talked a bit about Traitors. He’s posted screenshots on his Instagram page.

Bless him, he kept a diary while he was there!

As much as I enjoyed this one, I foresee enshittification.

I agree. It worked because the calibre of contestants was so high. If it’s all reality tv stars and people with no personality it then it’s no fun.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 10/11/2025 20:11

i think there’ll be enough big names interested to make series 2 good. My dc only watched because of nico so I guess they’ll have to find someone of that ilk

And I think that’s part of it. There has to be contestants known to a wide range of people. Before it started I was chatting to someone much younger than me about it. The only person she knew was Niko. He was one of the few I didn’t know. But she was going to watch it for hIm when I was watching it for the others.

Yeah you have to put someone in for the young ones.

I agree.

I think this series has set it as a show “big names” go on (in a way something like I’m a celeb, or strictly are not). It may not stay that way, it might drop gradually. But I think the perception is the key thing. If it’s just ~two weeks of their time, it’s the most watched thing in the country, and no one will think “oh they’ve gone on traitors? Career must not be great. They must be desperate” then big names will do it.

I agree - I bet there will be lots of agents of influencers/reality stars calling up wanting their clients to be part of S2. I really really hope I am wrong.
Traitor Australia and America have a lot of reality stars on and it just isn’t the same. What I liked about this series was that there was no particular journey for any of them (apart from Kate which, like her or loathe her was understandable) and even though they were trying to win money for charity ultimately they wanted to get one over their fellow celebrities. I wonder how many A listers will want to sign up after seeing this series.

The only person she knew was Nico?? How old was she?

I’ve never watched an episode of Jonathan Ross’s chat show, or any show Alan Carr has ever done, but I’m aware of who they are. They’re just sort of ubiquitous presenters.

I think the difference with the Australian version (and I think the American version although I’ve not watched it so could be wrong) is that it’s a mix of celebs and non-celebs. And I think that just has to reduce the “calibre” of celebrity that will go on it. The big name celebs aren’t stupid, they know it will do their image/popularity absolutely no good at all to be seen as multimillionaires taking £100k prize money away from a regular non-celeb who earns £30k a year or whatever. They wouldn’t do it.

Maybe that’s why the Australian version didn’t work and was binned after 2 series because they had people on it who had been on other reality shows alongside your average Joe

I can definitely see them asking VCM to be involved. Probably top of their list.

Not his biggest fan, but Stephen Fry's come in for a lot of unnecessary criticism for being useless at the game. He was spot on with Cat from his tired traitors theory, and came up with a great strategy to go straight to voting at the round table instead of getting sidetracked during discussions. Unfortunately no one listened to him!

I don't understand the tired traitor theory having much weight. Yes they had extra filming to do, but isn't time thing that all the faithful sleep terribly because they're so worried about being murdered? Maybe they all know exaggerating that bit 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tofufuton · 11/11/2025 01:52

True, but the Faithfuls gain shields, granting them at least one night of respite. Traitors, especially OG ones, only have nights upon nights of additional filming, which will take its toll. I'm not surprised if they're all walking around yawning their heads off.

But SF's 'great strategy' for no discussion and going straight to a vote at the round table, regardless of whether it might have lead to more 'accurate' and less herdlike voting, would have robbed the TV series of half of its point, which is watching people flail about and defend and incriminate themselves, while Claudia swishes about in the background wearing something velvet.

ie. it might have produced interesting results, but it would have lessened the entertainment value of the TV programme, which is its point.

I thought the problem with SF is that he just didn't give good entertainment. Other than the odd funny moment when Niko was clearly taken aback that he knew who he was, and the weird deference he seemed to attract as National Treasure-cum- Intellectual Giant, he wasn't an entertaining player.

Similarly Cat. People kept saying that she played it brilliantly, but fundamentally she was dull, and I think that she lasted as long as she did was in part because she just seemed like a bystander.

Finto1111 · 11/11/2025 12:23

Nick has just talked about the final. He said that they cut a lot of his reaction out. He said that he was convinced Alan was a faithful.

He said that the second Alan started talking the last timem he knew he was a traitor. He said that he swore much more than was shown, and he fell to the ground.

My 13 year old only knew Niko and Nick Mohammed (from Ted Lasso). Stephen Fry was to him 'the guy who reads the Harry Potter audiobook and does an annoying Hermione voice'.

CaveMum · 11/11/2025 14:31

You can see a bit more of the interview on Nick’s Instagram page as he has shared screenshots. It was with The Times so is behind a paywall.

Rewis · 11/11/2025 14:59

Talipesmum · 10/11/2025 00:16

I only knew Nick from Taskmaster (where he was great). I didn’t know until traitors that he was an actor, actually! Obv I’ve heard of Ted Lasso but we have Netflix, Sky, Disney and prime but not Apple TV, so have never seen it. Same with Slow Horses. I just assumed he was a comedian type I’d not come across before. I think this has made him much more of a household name than before - nobody is going to break out completely on celebrity traitors because they’re all well known in at least some areas.

For me Ted Lasso was all over everything everywhere that I knew about it way before I ever saw it. It won all the awards and Hannah Waddingham was suddenly everywhere and Nick got 2 emmy nominations. Then i finally gave up and took a free trial of Apple. But I'll admit, I get a fait bit of American pop culture on my feed.

Richmond seems to be a Ted Lasso theme park these days. So Nick has been all over my algorithms for a long time and then came Taskmaster. So to me he was a very familiar face but I'm glad he is getting recognition that seems like he didn't have before.

I really like Lucy on a little of shows and I would have loved to see more of her outside of her comedy persona but unfortunately that didn't really happen

Tofufuton · 11/11/2025 15:36

I think that's just Lucy, tbh. She's always accused of having a persona but she's the same in everything.

And obviously SF's plan wouldn't have resulted in the same fireworks at the round table - that's the point. A straight vote is a valid strategy for the game aspect, outwitting the traitors and preventing them from steering the clueless faithful. It would have been interesting to try it out, at least for one night. They may have caught Wossy sooner.
