I thought the problem with SF is that he just didn't give good entertainment. Other than the odd funny moment when Niko was clearly taken aback that he knew who he was, and the weird deference he seemed to attract as National Treasure-cum- Intellectual Giant, he wasn't an entertaining player.
Similarly Cat. People kept saying that she played it brilliantly, but fundamentally she was dull, and I think that she lasted as long as she did was in part because she just seemed like a bystander.
