David is a Professor of Public engagement, he doesn't have a PhD. His chosen career path was journalism and work on historical programmes with people like Mary Beard.

JeffTheSquirrel · 09/11/2025 11:57

I haven’t quite RTFT (supposed to be starting lunch!), but someone very much in the know told me that Nick donated his fee to his charity. He genuinely seems to be a lovely guy.

I’m sure I read somewhere that Claudia said she didn’t want the celeb version to be an annual thing but rather an every couple of years thing. I think it worked so well this year because of the high calibre of participants - definitely can’t be having influencers/reality tv stars.

Yes the red breakfast in S1! I am loving rewatching it even though I know who wins 🤣

I read an article which suggested Gemma Collins 🙄

How lovely.

And that would be the death of the franchise. Literally.

Holluschickie · 09/11/2025 13:22

Next year, I would like some really impressive 50-something women. They have not been well represented the last couple of years. Someone like Amanda of S 1.

WestwardHo1 · 09/11/2025 14:02

Here are my suggestions

Bob Mortimer
Miranda Hart
Sue Barker
Steve Redgrave/Matthew Pinsent (either would do)
Tom Allen
Jill Scott
Daley Thompson
Alex Brooker
Jennifer Saunders
Dan Snow
Mary Beard
Sara Cox
Ruth Jones
Mo Farah
Alison Steadman
Meera Syall
And just to keep it realistic...Sir Tom Jones 😁

JeffTheSquirrel · 09/11/2025 14:37

Derren Brown
Victoria Coren-Mitchell

ThatCyanCat · 09/11/2025 14:42

Derren Brown is a brilliant idea, except he'd have to be a Faithful so we can test his mentalism skills, and he wouldn't last two episodes before being banished or murdered because literally everyone would see him as a threat.

Tablefor4 · 09/11/2025 19:01

Floella Benjamin
Meera Syal

Victoria Coren Mitchell would be interesting because she is a very successful poker player so should be able to maintain face and watch for "tells" from others. She would resolutely refuse to do any of the tasks though I think!

CaveMum · 09/11/2025 19:07

Alex Horne - for the chaos factor!

IAmKerplunk · 09/11/2025 19:08

Piers Morgan 🤣

She did do taskmaster though, so up for giving things a go.

Agree about being a champion poker player, but that’s one of the things where people will know it and therefore will probably vote her out because they suspect her or murder her because she’s a threat.

Piers Morgan is on my absolutely not list! I don’t want anyone “divisive” or put in there to “stir things up”. I want them all pleasantly friendly!

I would love to see him pulled down a peg or 2 when he got it all wrong!

ThatCyanCat · 09/11/2025 19:17

I liked Fry more than usual in this, and it might be because he didn't have the upper hand so he wasn't as smug and smarmy as usual.

Although I also didn't dislike Jonathan Ross as much as usual either for some reason.

I actually warmed to Jonathan Ross a lot more than I expected, as I haven't ever been a fan. He surprised me on Uncloaked by being quite likeable!

I have very mixed feelings about Stephen Fry.

Yes and the opposite is also true. Few of this year’s celebs could imagine Alan being a traitor as his character and demeanour was so bumbling and jokey. He explained everything away with ‘oh I just get nervous’.

Perhaps in a second celeb series there would be so much focus on those who don’t have personalities and traits befitting of a traitor that the smarter people who play strategically and quietly form alliances will get a long way.

Tofufuton · 09/11/2025 23:32

I can definitely see them asking VCM to be involved. Probably top of their list.

Not his biggest fan, but Stephen Fry's come in for a lot of unnecessary criticism for being useless at the game. He was spot on with Cat from his tired traitors theory, and came up with a great strategy to go straight to voting at the round table instead of getting sidetracked during discussions. Unfortunately no one listened to him!

Talipesmum · 10/11/2025 00:16

Rewis · 08/11/2025 20:44

I thought that this is perfedt for Cat and she has liked her new album launch perfectly. Will give her a giant push. Joe has defo raised his profile. I am a bit supriaed about Nick as the third. Ted Lasso was so popular and he has two Emmy nominations and then he has done all the british panel/quiz shows. I would put David instead of Nick. I mean, i didn't find David particularly interesting but I can see him trying to become Brian Cox type character.

I only knew Nick from Taskmaster (where he was great). I didn’t know until traitors that he was an actor, actually! Obv I’ve heard of Ted Lasso but we have Netflix, Sky, Disney and prime but not Apple TV, so have never seen it. Same with Slow Horses. I just assumed he was a comedian type I’d not come across before. I think this has made him much more of a household name than before - nobody is going to break out completely on celebrity traitors because they’re all well known in at least some areas.

TessTickle0 · 10/11/2025 09:53

firstofallimadelight · 07/11/2025 19:42

Oh god yeah he had no care as to how he came across at all. I’m glad he didn’t succeed.

At the beginning I seem to remember him and luke when it was the wheel task deciding that they would deliberately get questions wrong so the ones on the wheel got wet..this is typical luke behaviour and it was fun,no malice.
But the sheriff was horrible..there was another task when he again deliberately lost or took money for himself.
I really felt for the other traitor with him.
He did try to make a stand a few times.

He is very good in Ted Lasso (with an incredible character arc) if you ever get a chance to see it.

Yeah, might do a few months of Apple TV at some point and watch all the things!
