It has been a joy for the tv but also because it’s been years since I remember so many people watching something collectively. It’s been lovely to talk about it at work and have something like that bringing people together. It is rare now with streaming services to get something like that.

I’m glad Alan won and I also looked more into his charity. He’s been working with neuroblastoma uk for years and clearly has a deep connection with the organisation. It’s really small- the money will make quite a big difference to them. It would have been nice if the bbc could have done a little segment on the charity at the end.

Just checked Nick’s Insta. Hannah Waddingham’s comment is epic 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ha. Marina and Richard on the podcast were speculating about how brilliant Hannah would be as a contestant. But she probably has MUCH better gigs in her diary now she is a proper global superstar

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/11/2025 11:50

OMFG! I did so well to avoid spoilers, only to have it spoiled on fucking Mumsnet! Jeez.

I'm really pleased Alan won, I was for him from day 1. I watched Uncloaked for the first time and I genuinely do think the rest were happy for him and his joke about being the father of Paloma's baby was hilarious.

I've really loved it (didn't expect to love a celeb version) and will miss my weekly fix.

Agree. It’s all my colleagues have wanted to talk about. 25 years ago almost to to the day we were watching the first big brother and I remember my colleagues bounding in and saying “OMG did you see big brother!!!”. Of course no catch up back then so almost everyone watched live. Apart from sports events, this is a very rare thing these days

Once a show has been aired, nothing is a spoiler. If you haven't watched it, it's up to you to keep away from the internet.

I did keep away from the internet. No social media for me, not even on a long bus journey late last night. I didn't expect to see a spoiler on Mumsnet Active Conversations, it's not difficult to not give the game away in the thread title is it?

CaveMum · 07/11/2025 11:55

BBC have confirmed an average of 11.1 million viewers for last night. The biggest TV audience of 2025 for a single show and the biggest audience since the Gavin and Stacey finale last Christmas which got 12.3 million.

Mumsnet Active Conversations is on the internet though. Grin

NervyWegovy · 07/11/2025 12:12

i really enjoyed this series, i think it was a great cast and actually having them do it for charity made it a bit more fun than the normal traitors and i think that explains the being alright at the end although they lost. the normal traitors are playing for life changing money for themselves so it feels a lot more personal where the celebrities came to play the game and the winning was a bonus for many that participated wasnt a lot especially once shared.

Sorry, but I think it's really unreasonable to expect people to keep the outcome secret after the live broadcast has gone out - people will inevitably want to talk about it without having to be all cryptic about it.

We were a bit behind with watching the programme last night because I have caring responsibilities for my dad and needed to see to those before I was able to sit down in front of the telly. I deliberately avoided MN because I didn't want to see any spoilers. If you chose to go on MN, then that was a risk that you chose to accept.

Kate Garroway has to go down as the most clueless contestant- I will always remember her trying to work out the traitors based on who did and didn't have the sun dried tomatoes.

I agree. She had no idea throughout and certainly gad sheep mentality when it came to voting.

However, from a personal point of view, she’s re-established her image. No longer a grieving widow but a person in her own right, and the show has been good for her as it’s helped her move forwards, which is good to see. Her banishment speech was lovely.

I think Joes game plan enabled Nick and David to bond into the two of them being definite faithfuls (and remember we don’t see everything) so by the end they were entirely sure about each other.

they also were allowed to speak between the cat vote off and the Joe so assume at that point they both became suspicious of Joe thought there were only 3 and therefore Alan became faithful by default.

and playing for charity money changed things I have no doubt had it been for actual money Nick and David may well have voted Alan off as well there just wasn’t the need

and with the money Alan’s Charity is a really worthy cause that no one is going to begrudge either as I am sure most of us at least know of someone whose lives have been affected by neuroblastoma

Also I think the other difference between Molly and Harry is their bond was between them in her eyes he betrayed her.

Nick and David went against Joe Alan was always fairly neutral with them

I’d say Joe was hoist by his on petard to some extent. He had been telling everyone loudly and repeatedly that “he” had spotted traitors, “he” kept getting it right when his spots (including Jonathan) came from others. He was rarely challenged hard probably due to his style of interaction. You see the same in meetings - the person who talks loudly and talks over key people (notably Clare in this case) tends to close down discussion whether they intend to or not.

So I can see why the “I’m sorry” caused Nick to overthink a bit as Joe had not been challenged half so much as most of the others. Nick's face when Alan said Joe had told them he was voting for David and lied to them was probably what finished Nick off. He was expecting Joe to vote for Cat but he didn’t know about the extra deception - if Joe had been more open with Nick when planning Nick might have continued to trust him.

Alan deserved to win in the end because he played a great game. Being annoyed that someone has lied to you in a game called “Traitors” is just silly. I’d still like to know the other charities which were represented, especially if small and local - publicising them can often bring in a few extra bucks.

As Claudia said - its dead easy for us to say something is obvious from our living rooms, its much harder for the people in the game. I don’t imagine we would do much better than any of the players.

I’d like to see another celeb series if they can keep the same level of celebs. I wouldn’t be interested in a sesires which was all professional reality show competitors. I was surprised more people hadn’t heard of Cat. I’m not young but it was me who introduced her to my adult DC, not the other way around. (They told me about Nico though).

Yes I would be angry!

As I said I go to games meetups in real life. The games are similiar to how the Traitors is played.

No money is involved. People still get angry at each other and fall out at these games

Because people don't like being fooled and lied to

David and Nick don't strike me as particularly angry people though. David especially didn't even seem competitive by nature, it was much more a gentle strategic analysis on his part.

The other thing is that it was obviously televised in a way i assume your games are not. So they would have gone into it for a bit of fun, to see how they did, for a challenge, some (Tom, Joe for example) would have been competitive...

But also knowing they are entertaining the viewing public. They all have established careers. Basically none of them would have wanted to come out looking too angry. The whole tone of this season was pretty comradely compared to others, they all knew it was an entertaining game (only Tameka, Mark and Ruth came close to acting like the non-celeb seasons in taking things personally at times).

Strictly won’t end, apart from Celeb Traitors it’s still the most watched TV show in the UK!

True, and I still like to watch the dancing, but each year I recognise less of the “celebs”. If I didn’t follow the Strictly thread here I’d probably have lost interest and its long since lost its lustre as the “must do” show for real celebs.

I’d like Traitors to avoid that fate and keep a decent proportion of genuine names from different arenas.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 07/11/2025 12:49

I'm intrigued by people who complain about spoilers on threads like this. I mean what would they consider an acceptable time frame? Or are we never allowed to mention the result?
I didn't watch series one until almost two months after it had aired. Would have been a bit rich to complain about spoilers at that point
people don't watch tv in the same way these days and I do think the onus is on you not to go online if you want to avoid finding anything out

HarrietteVane · 07/11/2025 12:57

Reading along with this thread has been a lovely additional topping on the traitors cake, so thank you everyone.

I have disappeared down a Nick Mohammed rabbithole and it turns out he has an absolutely adorable double

I agree. After hearing the finale was aired in Canada and there were spoilers out there I kept off X, Facebook, news sites and even Mumsnet for a few hours to ensure I wouldn’t come across the result. I didn’t go anywhere that might have shown me the outcome.

It was the most watched tv show of the year. Once it’s aired the onus is on the person trying to avoid the result to impose a media and internet blackout on themselves.

No, I had faith that whoever started the final thread would have the sense not to put a spoiler in the thread title, it's easy enough. I wasn't going to click on any Traitors threads, obviously.

Agree, if you follow a watchalong type thread there will be spoilers. There are one or two shows (this is one) which I only watch “live” because I enjoy the live discussion groups around them.

My annual watching of Eurovision is pretty much entirely because I’m on a couple of long running chat groups connecting up friends from a number of other fan groups.

Well, clearly that's what you expected, but my point is that it was an unrealistic and unreasonable expectation in the first place.

The show had aired. It was to be expected that people would talk about it. And it's only a TV programme anyway!

Maggiethecat · 07/11/2025 13:31

I agree @LindorDoubleChoc - people couldn’t watch live for various reasons.
Although you expect people not to even touch their phones if they don’t want to know the result it’s reasonable that the thread title not give the game away, not difficult to do.

I wasn't able to watch live, as stated above. But I'm aware that the world doesn't revolve around me, and I don't expect others to edit their conversations for my benefit.

Also TBF, the thread says “Alan’s end game?” as a question rather than a result. I wouldn’t automatically assume from the title that he had won unless I knew the thread started after the end of the show.
