It's not like it's not on film. They can just roll the tape!

Niko: So there's a one in thirteen chance of being murdered tonight.
Jonathan, turning around from the front seat to chat: If you form alliances with people, that might swing it in your favour.
Clare: Yes. Some people know each other already.
Ruth: I don't know anyone.
Niko: We're in trouble.
Clare: No, you're not.
Jonathan: You've got two older allies here already.
Clare: Exactly.

I mean, if Rossy is guilty of forming this dastardly alliance of four, then so is Clare. I hope Ruth and Clare watch the episodes and see how unhinged they were. I realy enjoyed Ruth until she became obsessed with and so vindictive about JR.

It was weird the way she latched on to that and didn’t let go. Fairly obviously JR didn’t mean “I’ll never vote for you”. Clare made the point that alliances were easier if you knew people, they said they didn’t know anyone, he basically said well now you know us so that’s good. Just friendly chit chat before he even was a traitor.
I know she was right in the end, but I think JR would have voted for Niko even if he wasn’t a traitor. So I think she was lucky rather than smart to work it out.

Yes, the first time we saw it that is exactly how I understood the conversation, the second showing reinforces that and Clare was doing the same thing. I do think Ruth misunderstood or misremembered.

Clare made a big tactical error by banging on about this and then never backing down. When you attack someone that hard in the room you start to draw suspicion to yourself. She would have been a lot more effective if she had been willing to say “that is how I remember it” and giving it a rest before returning with another point.

My prediction

Wossy banished
They recruit Nick
Various Faithful get murdered
Alan Carr banished
Recruit Joe Wilkinson
Final remaining Faithful is Joe Mahler
He falls for Joe Wilkinson's convincing insistence that he is faithful
The traitors - Cat/Alan/Joe M - take the lot.

It's very specific but I'm throwing my hat into the ring.

You've said Alan goes and he takes the lot with cat and joe

Yes, but Clare Balding is considerably posher than SF — her mother is the sister of the current Earl of Huntingdon, and she comes from a long line of polo players, racehorse trainers etc.

sorry but have you ever visited Uppingham (the town, home of Fry’s Alma mater). The school dominates the town, the privilege on display is eye-watering.

Typo.

I meant Nick

This bloody car conversation, I don’t know why they’re placing so much weight on it. It happened right at the start before anyone was a traitor. JR should have just said “I was just being nice, I didn’t literally mean I’d never vote for anyone in the car!”

He probably didn’t think of it in the moment but “I’m Wossy! I was trying to put you at your ease, I literally chat shit for a living!” would have looked less suss than getting into an argument about what exactly he did or didn’t say.

I have an intense dislike of Jonathan Ross as I can’t forget his cruel treatment of Andrew Sachs when he was best buddies with Russell Brand.

Yep, exactly why I don't like him either @dayswithaY . At least Russell apologised to Georgina, but JR didn't at all. He smirks too much too.

I mean just because RB apologised
doesnt mean he
meant it. JR does seem annoying but nothing lile
rapist RB.

Lelophants · 17/10/2025 21:19

I think Cat will to before Alan. Also Alan is much more machiavellian than he lets
on!

I don't like either of them. We didn't know that about Brand at the time either. Anyway, point is JR didnt show remorse for bullying Andrew Sachs.

Another one here not getting the Ruth hate. She sees right through Jonathan's gaslighting and has well and truly exposed him and he is sweating over it. She will probably be murdered though.

Jonathan on the other hand, I can't stand. Always found him smug and irritating. He never apologised to Andrew Sachs or Georgina Bailey either for pulling that prank with Russell Brand.

On wiki, it states the Andrew Sachs had received and accepted written apologies from both Ross and Brand.

Georgina said she didn't get an apology from JR.

But Andrew Sachs did, and accepted it. He was the one they were tormenting.

I think he genuinely doesn’t remember saying anything of the kind. But still better to say ‘will if I did, I was just being nice’ I suppose

Yes, they did to Andrew but Georgina deserves one too for being slut shamed.
That's misogynistic behaviour.

Whichever way you look at it, you are not going to convince me to like Jonathan Ross. He is playing a good game so far on Traitors, but I still don't like him.

I'm not trying to convince you to like Jonathan Ross. You said he never apologised to Andrew Sachs. I had to google what the thing even was, and it took me to wikipedia which contained the information that he sent a written apology that was received and accepted by Andrew Sachs.

I see. I misremembered from Georgina's interview a couple of years ago. She said JR never apologised, but meant to her specifically. Just because the prank was done to AS, it was Georgina's privacy that was also being violated, amd she is owed an apology too.

That's not the only reason why I don't like him, but you are clearly bothered by it enough to Google it just to prove me wrong.

My god, I didn't google it to prove you wrong. I saw a bunch of people mentioning this thing, which I did not know about. I then read back through the thread to see what it was, and was none the wiser, but noted you asserted JR never apologised for this thing. I then typed into my search engine "Jonathan Ross and Andrew Sachs" to find out what he'd done. It had a wiki article that I then skimmed, which stated:

"In an interview, Sachs revealed that he had received and accepted written apologies from Brand and Ross."

Forgot Andrew Sachs was Manuel on Faulty Towers, so that was interesting.

The Russell Brand Show prank calls - Wikipedia

xsquared · 18/10/2025 07:27

Well, the prank was played against Andrew Sachs, but he wasnt the only victim as the joke was at Georgina Baillie's expense.

Both men treated her badly from what they thought was a joke, but
the cringeworthy saga harmed her relationship with her grandfather as well as her reputation.

Anyway, there is nothing further I want to say about Sachs gate, as I'd like to get back to Traitors.

Hanschristiananderson · 18/10/2025 08:35

The fact that JR could even do that in the first place says a lot about him. I don’t like him either but think he’s playing a good game. I’ll be sorry when he goes .

Thanks for this as it’s how I remembered /interpretated it, I think JR was just being friendly to the people who felt they didn’t know other celebrities in the castle,
Ruth annoyed me as she seemed vindictive and quite miserable and Clare could have explained it was way before the Traitors were picked and she’s got that bossy head girl vibe even when getting things wrong, she ignored the right tune from the Banshee as well, so I’m glad they both went.
Love Alan he’s so funny, but actually like all the traitors they are making it for me, but JR knows he’s going soon.

Stowickthevast · 17/10/2025 07:43

I think the car is relevant because from Ruth's perspective, Jonathan did say "you'll have two older allies", and then the next day was campaigning against Nico. As two young people who didn't have connections with the rest of them, it obviously did feel like a betrayal at least to Ruth. Now that everyone in that car who disputed Jonathan's version of events has gone, suspicion should fall on him. Celia was interesting in the kitchen last night saying she was determined to vote for JR yesterday then changed her mind at the round table. He must be very charismatic in real life. I think if anyone watched the last US traitors, one of them, a big Survivor star, played quite like Jonathan - Boston Rob.

I liked the Irish one, great characters though really terrible tasks. I definitely wouldn't start with Aus S2 which is the one that will have you screaming at your TV. If you haven't watched any others, UK 1 & 2 and Aus 1 are a good place to start.

Boston Rob turned out to be much kinder Han he first appeared though. He was a great game-player
