And who will be the first to be banished from the table?

I think when someone gets killed off on traitors that it needs to be more dramatic, so I suggested they get some wailing banshees in their room while they’re asleep… too much? 😂

DrPrunesqualer · 16/10/2025 22:59

Marks been mentioned as a traitor

Will there be a mumsnet meltdown

NewAgeNewMe · 16/10/2025 23:01

For those who have never seen another Traitors series my favourite ever is Australia season 2. Bloody brilliant.

That would freak me out. I was brought up with stories of banshees.

There was one in the front yard Aparently 🥴

As are other members of the game. Nick has a Cambridge PhD. Claire also did her degree in English at Cambridge (and like Stephen from a public school background). David and Wossy both went to prestigious universities after schooling at very bog standard comps in poor areas which I’d argue is a bigger achievement.

Its hard to compare academics as performers/thesps/musicians often follow a very different development path attending performer colleges or a more apprenticeship style start to their craft.

Fry is a very experienced performer, he knows exactly how to present himself on a reality show having presented and made reality type programmes himself. His schtick is the lovable old academic buffer and he plays it to perfection.

I agree. I think Stephen lets people perpetuate the "extremely intelligent," thing. But in reality I think he's probably just very well read, which is mixed in with privilege and an upper -class accent which bolster the image. I know plenty of people with PhDs from prestigious universities, he's not as special as he happily lets people think. I find him quite ungracious.

JaggyJumper · 16/10/2025 23:08

Joe M has a podcast. Well he’s just announced he’s stopped it now but I found it very interesting, he would interview people of all walks of life and different jobs. There’s some I didn’t think I would be interested in and those ended up the best one. It’s called things people do if anyone wants to listen to it.

I'm rooting for him as my favourite

In uncloaked it’s always assumed that as a viewer we are on the faithful side but I’m always rooting for the traitors. I love seeing them get away with it.

Yep I’m always rooting for the traitors 😂

I'm rooting for Alan and Cat! I think JR will be out soon.

BIWI · 16/10/2025 23:16

Never watched the original series, but caught the end of the first one of this one and we are now well and truly hooked!

Same here. Some have shocking table manners.

I'm shocked they have to eat on their laps. They have the table at breakfast, why not at dinner?

I’m not surprised because he would seem to be completely overreacting if you weren’t certain he isn’t a traitor Grin

RubieChewsDay · 16/10/2025 23:20

Some of them do use it for dinner but I think it's quite cramped at this stage. I think they deliberately don't give them a table so they have to go off into little groups to do some chatting.

Gutted that Clare has gone, I really enjoyed her on uncloaked though loved seeing her competitive side and how she talked about her approach to the game. The traitors should be delighted that she's gone, in theory it should be another nail in JR's coffin, but I suspect it won't be.

TraitorsFan · 16/10/2025 23:25

The executive producer of The Traitors (who was wearing a beautifully ironed shirt under his suit jacket) has just been interviewed on Newsnight. He said it’s very hard to tell who’s lying in the first few episodes, and that Stephen Fry had said that at the time. It becomes easier as time goes on as the traitors start to give themselves away in little ways but the faithful may not notice.

He said this series is working because the celebrities are so serious about playing the game, but as they are all entertainers they are also very funny.

He also said that Stephen Fry signed up to do it quite early on, and was happy to let it be known that he had, which encouraged other celebrities to take part.

Totally agree with both posts. Especially the upper class accent and people being impressed by that.

TraitorsFan · 16/10/2025 23:28

The executive producer also said it’s a high -risk strategy for a faithful to go after a traitor at the round table, because if they are not banished the traitors are likely to go for them the next day.

Irish Traitors is going on iPlayer when this series finishes. Then you can binge all the previous ones you haven’t seen ready for the next series to start in January!

I was a bit disappointed in the Irish one. Wasn’t very dramatic and very much lower budget than the UK one.
I really wanted it to be amazing

I completely agree about Stephen being well read, priveleged and posh.

David's gone down in my estimation with his continued adulation of Stephen.

Meanwhile, Nick, potentially the real genius in the room, quietly goes about solving puzzles whilst Stephen waxes lyrical and can't remember how many people died in a Shakespeare play! Something one might expect a genius to know or recall without too much trouble.

Instead, we cut to him wandering about looking for a book of Shakespeare's plays so he can look it up.

Just like the rest of us would do.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/10/2025 23:45

I cottoned on to that too about the Shakespeare thing. He even flicked to a page, saw a new name he hadn't referenced and said "oh maybe he died too, I think he did!" but clearly didn't know!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 16/10/2025 23:46

I am surprised the traitors didn't consider Celia. She is much more dangerous than David at this stage.

NotOverlypleased · 16/10/2025 23:50

The vision of Celia Imrie screaming like a banshee is an image that will stay with me for a long time. Quite unsettling!

I'm old, and here's my resurfaced recollection of Ding Dong Bell...

Ding dong bell,
Pussy’s in the well.
Who put her in?
Little Johnny Flynn.
Who pulled her out?
Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that,
To drown poor pussy cat,
Who ne’er did any harm,
And killed all the mice in the farmer’s barn.

WonderfulSmith · 16/10/2025 22:44

Trouble is, they’re expected to eat while also discussing suspects and strategies with gobs full of food. It is a bit unedifying!

SwedishEdith · 16/10/2025 23:52

Maybe David think Stephen is a traitor and is flattering him? Clutching straws.
