A TV documentary that follows the work of a police force will show how the investigation into the actions of a teenage killer unfolded.

Nicholas Prosper used a shotgun to kill his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, his brother Kyle, 16, and his 13-year-old sister, Giselle, at their home in Luton on 13 September 2024.
The 19-year-old, who was arrested in the hours after the murders, was jailed for 49 years in March. A trial heard he intended to carry out a shooting at his former primary school.

The Channel Four series 24 Hours in Police Custody, which follows the work of investigators at Bedfordshire Police, will feature the case over two nights on 5 and 6 October.

Nicholas Prosper jailed for at least 49 years for Luton triple murders

After killing his family in their tower block in Luton, Nicholas Prosper planned to carry out a mass shooting at his former primary school.

Thank you!

SingingOcean · 11/01/2026 17:44

Thanks for the heads up on the latest episodes.

(What did others think of the SIO in the To Catch A Killer episode?).

Absolutely chilling that these violent, sadistic men live amongst us.

Lalgarh · 13/01/2026 09:34

Looks like it's still on tonight. Theres previews in the papers for tonight's TV

ChiaraMontague · 13/01/2026 16:14

Preview looks great! There is another Channel 4 series about EncroChat “Operation Dark Phone : Murder By Text” that is really good … I’ve seen that series but don’t recognise the case from tonight’s 24HrPC episode description so will be good to see more on this topic

Edited

I’ve seen the Murder By Text and I don’t think it’ll ever leave me.
Murder 24 on iPlayer is another series.

Funny you should ask about the SIO as I still cannot decide what I think…

So, I thought about it a bit longer, trying to figure out what had got a reaction in me. On reflection, there were quite a few scenes where she intimated that she was welling up, getting emotional etc. etc. but there were never any tears. So I feel there was some inauthenticity in her communication and this was leading me to feel a bit manipulated and that she was manipulating her team somewhat.

Lalgarh · 14/01/2026 13:39

Oh they used AI again to change the appearance of alleged accomplice.

Can't they just keep her face blurred or covered?

MalbecMakesMeHappy · 14/01/2026 19:19

Am I going mad? Seems to no longer be on 4od. Watched some last night. Went back today and nada...

I’m glad it’s not just me. I went to watch it tonight after seeing it on here and couldn’t see a new one

Can anyone tell me where I can watch the episode of To Catch A Killer that has been mentioned? I’ve searched my virgin box (which is shite) and no episodes are coming up with that victim’s name.

I think it's actually called Catching a Killer

A gripping series with extraordinary access to the police as they investigate murders and search for missing people. Part of True Crime on Channel 4.

LittlePotteryBird · 15/01/2026 15:55

Thank you @LandofTute ,that will be why I couldn’t find it!

I thought the facial manipulation of the Russian woman was excellent, the technology has really come on since they first started using it on the program. We didn’t realise at all until the credits at the end- I just thought she had Botox or similar making her very smooth! The good thing about altering her digitally rather than blurring is that it doesn’t give away the status of the individual, ie, if they’re blurred you know they weren’t charged/convicted.

purpleme12 · 15/01/2026 15:58

But it told us she wasn't charged or convicted

But not until the end. If they blur someone out from when they first appear in the show it gives it away that they aren’t convicted at the end

SoMentallyDrained · 15/01/2026 20:00

Does anybody know, what happens to money seized from crimes?

FoxRedPuppy · 15/01/2026 20:04

Once it is deemed definitely criminal money it is split between Police and Home Office.

Not sure about the SIO. She seemed dedicated but I’ve not seen one get so emotional. (Or giggly)

OnTheBoardwalk · 15/01/2026 20:54

I thought the AI used tonight was better than the Will AI in stranger things

i also think the interviewing officer should be able to punch a clearly guilty suspect in the face every time they say 'no comment'

LittlePotteryBird · 17/01/2026 09:50

I felt sorry for the Russian lady who was evidently arrested mid hair wash. My worst nightmare.

Victoriawould24 · 17/01/2026 11:25

I thought it was a very boring episode of 24 Hours this one.
we already knew about the encro thing from the previous episode and ultimately they still didn't catch a big player and the sentences of who they did catch were all pretty short.

I absolutely can’t stand it when the charging officer is all matey with the offender, I do wonder if they are very conscious they are being filmed and act super nice, they always have bits where detectives talk about the poor family etc and I think this is a requirement for police PR.

The Catching a Killer episode so brutal but I thought the police investigating didn’t come across too brilliantly.

Why so slow checking the bins or considering them.
Also really without the Romanian man that came forward they wouldn’t have ever had any leads and it probably would have been barely investigated and zero shits given that a foreign national had gone missing.
Makes you wonder how many other brutal killings go unnoticed.

ThisOldThang · 17/01/2026 18:22

"I absolutely can’t stand it when the charging officer is all matey with the offender"

I think the desk officer's job is to be 'good cop' and not like those 'other cops'. They're supposed to calm it all down and check them into custody. They do it day in, day out. The last thing the station needs is constant drama, violence, etc.

In a previous episode one of the police remarked that the more senior the criminal, the politer they are. Low level criminals play gangster and shout abuse at the officers whereas high level criminals treat the arrest as part of the job and don't make it personal.

That was the episode where they'd used a drug mule's car's dashcam to identify a major heroin supplier. He was very polite and was shown phoning his primary school aged son, from the custody desk, on his birthday. I think he got serious time.

The role of the Custody Sergeant is to ensure the detention of the person (ie removing their civil liberties and ceasing their human rights) is lawful. They are also responsible for the welfare of the the person so need to ask, politely, about their health, their medications, their wellbeing. There is no reason for the Custody Sergeant to be a prick, in fact by being a rude, surly idiot, they are likely to piss of the person in custody and won't be able to fulfill their duties.
