A TV documentary that follows the work of a police force will show how the investigation into the actions of a teenage killer unfolded.

Nicholas Prosper used a shotgun to kill his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, his brother Kyle, 16, and his 13-year-old sister, Giselle, at their home in Luton on 13 September 2024.
The 19-year-old, who was arrested in the hours after the murders, was jailed for 49 years in March. A trial heard he intended to carry out a shooting at his former primary school.

The Channel Four series 24 Hours in Police Custody, which follows the work of investigators at Bedfordshire Police, will feature the case over two nights on 5 and 6 October.

Nicholas Prosper jailed for at least 49 years for Luton triple murders

After killing his family in their tower block in Luton, Nicholas Prosper planned to carry out a mass shooting at his former primary school.

I found it very hard to watch last night. I did guess the older child missing from the flat was the killer and not another potential victim. I found the fixation with the computer game character really strange. It must have been very tough for the jury to hear it all in court. I hope he is now locked away somewhere secure.

This. It would have been noticeable to his family during the months before, the videos he was making, the video games he was making and they way he was talking. He was clearly very mentally unwell and it’s pretty obvious he is autistic just by the way he presents himself and talks. I am shocked that no one flagged anything up, especially those living with him. People were watching his videos online? Following him? Surely they knew his behaviour was dangerous? Or maybe the people watching his videos are just as messed up as he is?

He showed absolutely no signs of autism or any autistic traits until he was 16.
It was picked up that something was wrong but he refused all support.

I watched and wished I hadn’t. Felt really flat and saddened. His poor Mum and siblings, slaughtered in their own home. I’m astounded he had no diagnosed mental illness or neurodiversity noted when he presented so clearly as having one or both.

He showed zero signs of neurodiversity as a child, all the way through school etc.

ThisOldThang · 06/10/2025 21:06

It's a very disturbing edition of the programme. We're 'lucky' that he killed his family first, rather than starting at the primary school.

I don't understand how he could go through school without ever receiving an autism diagnosis.

Raspberrymoon49 · 06/10/2025 21:46

He’s in Belmarsh Prison

ThisOldThang · 06/10/2025 21:49

Let's hope he stays there until he dies.

GoldenGeishaGirl · 06/10/2025 21:55

I don’t believe that he’ll have shown zero signs of being on the autism spectrum as a child. Some parents go into denial and don’t want their child to be diagnosed as autistic. It can be hard to get a diagnosis even when a parent is pushing for one.

And being on the autism spectrum doesn’t explain why he’s evil. It doesn’t explain why he wanted to kill his family. It doesn’t explain why he wanted to commit murder to gain notoriety. It doesn’t explain why he’s a paedophile. Being autistic isn’t an illness. I have an autistic child who is sweet and gentle and wouldn’t hurt a sole.

channel 4 made the right decision in showing the documentary. I hope there’s a change in the UK laws on gun sales as a result. I also hope his sentence is changed to a whole life sentence so he’s never released.

burnoutbabe · 06/10/2025 22:11

He very much seemed like he should have had an appropriate adult with him for interviews.

opencecilgee · 06/10/2025 22:27

@GoldenGeishaGirl

totally agree

He is an adult. A very dangerous one at that. I thought he was treated with respect and care. He didn’t deserve it

ChiaraMontague · 06/10/2025 22:33

I think the police officers mentioned waiting for the appropriate adult or that the appropriate adult had just arrived in one of the episodes

BuffetTheDietSlayer · 06/10/2025 22:33

He’s a seriously dangerous individual. I’ve just finished reading the sentencing remarks, thank God the neighbours phoned the police and he didn’t get to the school.

His complete lack of empathy is an autistic trait, though, and 'evil' has been described as a lack of empathy.

I appreciate that not all autistic people have a complete lack of empathy and that not all autistic people that do lack empathy are 'evil', but I think his behaviour is closely linked to his autism - just like Jonty Bravery.

friendlyflicka · 06/10/2025 22:36

He did have an appropriate adult. I wish I hadn't watched it and felt there was a disconnect between the police talking about disturbing voyeuristic that the teenager had watched, and the viewer watching this. Especially when more true crime playing straight afterwards. Made me experience discomfort at my own viewing choices - which is no bad thing - but if the family didn't given consent, it makes it worse

Thank you for posting this. It disgusts me that he intended on raping his sister too and has admitted that he’ll try to kill others if released, but that foolish judge still gave him a minimum sentence. He’ll always be a danger to society and should never be released.

Is 49 years a "minimum" sentence, though?

Keepit100 · 07/10/2025 00:19

Watched the first part of this tonight and can’t stop thinking about it. Those sentencing remarks are chilling.

As much as it pains me to be an armchair psychiatrist - he clearly had ND tendencies. You could tell from more or less as soon as he spoke to the police and it’s confirmed in that report. I’m not saying you have to be ND to be evil or evil to be ND of course. Maybe if something had been spotted sooner things might have been different.

How absolutely terrifying to think of what he was planning to do. As it says in the sentencing remarks, those three victims saved over thirty others.

How many other hopeless boys are there out there with almost nothing but gaming and porn in their lives who could decide something like that would mean more than trying to make something of their lives.

purpleme12 · 07/10/2025 00:22

Watched the first episode
Thought it was disturbing enough at the start but wow it just got worse

Yes, if you read the judge’s comments, she decided to impose the minimum term she could.

CameForAVacationStayedForTheRevolution · 07/10/2025 07:05

One of the most disturbing episodes I’ve seen to be honest. I agree he must be mentally unwell because surely you have to be to do that to your family and seemingly be so unbothered? But not unwell enough for it to be any sort of mitigation or to need to be sent to a psychiatric unit. So maybe he is just evil.

Slimtoddy · 07/10/2025 08:01

I think the lack of remorse is because he is living in a virtual world. He thinks he is still in a game. I wish we heard more from a psychologist or psychiatrist. If we don't understand this type of behaviour it will just get repeated. The way he corrected the pronunciation of one of his siblings really showed how disconnected he was to what he had done.

ScarilyClose · 07/10/2025 08:37

Watching now.

How the fuck was it not picked up when he was younger that he's so obviously autistic? He is also obviously very very mentally unwell.

His speech and tone and mannerisms and facial expressions reminded me uncomfortably much of a young adult family member who was ASD and also severe mentally unwell who died by suicide recently. When I heard the news of my family members death one of my first thoughts was relief that he'd only harmed himself because we had been concerned about something like this happening for a while and the level of support offered by MH services was fucking woeful. Family made repeated reports and pleas for more support and intervention but fuck all was done.

Listening to the young man on this programme sends chills down my spine because it was so much like how my family member presented. I don't know if I can watch to the end tbh.

Coffeetime25 · 07/10/2025 08:47

this guy had peadophile material and killed three members of his family and had an unhealthy obsession with his sister the police were doing their jobs in a distressing case I think they did their best
just laying out facts as I saw them we cant use mental illness or autism or ADHD to excuse any of the above

This absolutely! ⬆️
I have taught a fair few children who display many signs of autism but whose parents will not agree to any assessment / screening / interventions until their child’s behaviour deteriorates to the point of exclusion from school. Even then, it’s a very touchy subject to discuss with them.
