A TV documentary that follows the work of a police force will show how the investigation into the actions of a teenage killer unfolded.

Nicholas Prosper used a shotgun to kill his mother Juliana Falcon, 48, his brother Kyle, 16, and his 13-year-old sister, Giselle, at their home in Luton on 13 September 2024.
The 19-year-old, who was arrested in the hours after the murders, was jailed for 49 years in March. A trial heard he intended to carry out a shooting at his former primary school.

The Channel Four series 24 Hours in Police Custody, which follows the work of investigators at Bedfordshire Police, will feature the case over two nights on 5 and 6 October.

Nicholas Prosper jailed for at least 49 years for Luton triple murders

After killing his family in their tower block in Luton, Nicholas Prosper planned to carry out a mass shooting at his former primary school.

teddydaniels · 05/10/2025 21:12

Why's that?

They didn't give consent. There's been a fair amount on my local Facebook and in the press.

Longdistance · 05/10/2025 21:47

Just seen a house I used to visit with my mum to see her friend. Brought back dime memories. As I see it he was going to head to his old school. I have friends that work there 😔

teddydaniels · 05/10/2025 21:59

It's awful. He's behaving in such a strange way

This is really disturbing to watch.

Moonlightfrog · 05/10/2025 22:22

I am just shocked that this young man hadn’t been flagged up to anyone before he killed, he obviously has mental health issues and possibly autism. Did no one notice how unwell he was? How unhealthy his obsession with gaming (killing within gaming) was?

He killed his family but it could have been even worse….he could have easily gone into a school and killed many children.

It’s really concerning because there are others out there like him and they will end up killing.

Boutonnière · 05/10/2025 22:34

It just got worse and worse, with the trailer for tomorrow showing that there was, horrifyingly, more planned.

When a policeman was recounting his discussion with the father, after he had been informed, it sounded like the family were aware something was not right, that his behaviour had become more concerning but that they had no idea of what was really going on in his room online.

He was very polite and presented initially as a well mannered, gently spoken young man so I can see how he did not previously attract external attention especially as there had not been any police involvement or any minor events. Tomorrow will reveal more about how this appalling event transpired .

LandofTute · 05/10/2025 23:23

When he was arrested, was he on his way to the primary school then?

GodspeedJune · 05/10/2025 23:57

I watched and wished I hadn’t. Felt really flat and saddened. His poor Mum and siblings, slaughtered in their own home. I’m astounded he had no diagnosed mental illness or neurodiversity noted when he presented so clearly as having one or both.

He’d already dumped the shotgun before he was intercepted walking along the road in a strange state. Though it was still early, if he still had the plan in mind it may have needed to happen later He seemed quite confused at that point.

It seemed like he was presenting ok until lockdown - that’s when he started staying in his room all the time, which is not unusual in teenagers. He was described as very intelligent and his politeness and presumably unproblematic behaviour may not have raised any flags in school.

There seemed to be views in the family that there was something different going on but it wasn’t apparently causing any problems at home. They would have had no idea about the obsessional gaming and porn. Of course, apart from a reported comment from the younger brother to the father, we can’t know what the three victims were actually experiencing with him prior to the event. The father seemed to be quite involved though and it was notable that the killer asked if his father had been told what had happened.

GodspeedJune · 06/10/2025 08:23

I don’t think you can possibly say it wasn’t causing any problems at home. The younger brothers comment was something like ‘he’s not right’ which isn’t exactly complementary. In the videos he posted online he said he was going to mutilate his sisters face. I don’t believe he’s gone from living harmoniously at home to that. They may not have been aware of his gaming but you can’t conclude they had no idea.

Coffeetime25 · 06/10/2025 11:08

was disturbing watch but cant help but wonder given what he was posting online why the alarm bells where not ringing before it got to this stage

Darner · 06/10/2025 11:12

That made extremely disturbing viewing.

This. It would have been noticeable to his family during the months before, the videos he was making, the video games he was making and they way he was talking. He was clearly very mentally unwell and it’s pretty obvious he is autistic just by the way he presents himself and talks. I am shocked that no one flagged anything up, especially those living with him. People were watching his videos online? Following him? Surely they knew his behaviour was dangerous? Or maybe the people watching his videos are just as messed up as he is?

SignatureShortdeads · 06/10/2025 11:40

Completely agree re: how unwell he seemed. I actually felt myself looking away from the screen each time he spoke as it felt utterly exploitative given the obvious mental illness he was presenting with.

I am not excusing what he did, but I don’t think it was appropriate to televise all of that.

I agree, as someone who’s autistic and has 2 dc with autism I found it really upsetting. What he did was awful and unthinkable but he was obviously extremely unwell and the police almost seemed oblivious to how he was presenting. If he was a year younger I doubt it wound have been shown on tv. The poor family, 3 family members dead. It’s not the only case like this, there are many and I know of a family this has happened too (2 family members attacked, one sadly died, the other left with life long complications).

Many people have been failed due to poor mental health intervention. I am sure a lot of the time these people do seek help (or their family members do) but it goes ignored……until the unthinkable happens.

RandomMess · 06/10/2025 14:45

I agree with what has been said but if you read up on the case it was ruled that he wasn’t unwell.

I feel so sorry for the family. They must be traumatised and to have this on TV.
