There was plenty of fake tan in the 1970s! It came out in the 1960s.

It was announced right at the end. Shirley is still head judge but the judges are going to take it in turns to have the casting vote if their votes are tied in the dance-off. I would imagine that Shirley got absolutely sick and tired of the endless trolling she’s been on the receiving end of for years and the producers are hoping that this might dilute the online venom somewhat.

Shirley can be highly annoying, but she has definitely received much more vitriol than any of the male judges. Sad that they've had to take these steps.

And Jilly Cooper was always going on about her heroines "slapping ManTan" on their legs in her "name" books (Prudence, Imogen and so on).

I was a bit suspicious when they said we would only find out who was the deciding judge on each Results Show. It has jiggery-pokery potential. The producers know who is in the dance-off before they start recording. If one of the couples is generating more clicks, more headlines or the desired demographics then the producers could give the power to the judge who most favoured them on the Main Show. It would be less open to accusations if they told who had the casting vote a week in advance.

Sure, but if they wanted to manipulate the result it'd be worth putting it in place for when it did kick in.
Although it does seem a bit high-risk for possibly not much reward – the judge would have to favour the same couple again, and surprisingly often in the DO they don't.

I used to do dancing (not ballroom and latin) when I was younger and I'd be sewing on those sequins like some workhouse child. Sometimes it was sequins and then a tiny bead to go inside the sequin. It's probably why I wear glasses.

DH and me caught up on last night's show this afternoon. Really enjoyed the first dances and the opening judge 's dance, great fun.

We thought Alex and George showed promise. Karen was really good as was Amber. We saw Amber in the Great Gatsby in the summer and she was great.

Soft spot for Jimmy as we're Chelsea supporters and he's a Chelsea legend. Loved his routine to Chelsea Dagger, and think he and Lauren will be a great pairing.

Fear for Ellie. She's really enthusiastic but has her limitations. I hope the pressure doesn't get to her too early. DH said he hoped the trolls would lay off her.

I thought Motsi looked like she had lost weight , not that she needs to as she is gorgeous but the fabulous boobage looked less than normal.

Motsi has lost masses of weight, even DH commented. Almost certainly using the injections
