She sounded like she was losing her voice, but was still as smiley and lovely as ever.

Isn’t it a given that Shirley gets threatened by anyone with (west end level professional) dance experience? And seems to feel the need to put them down a peg (even though they aren’t even displaying any arrogance) to assert her specific & superior Ballroom & Latin dance experience? That’s why LaVoix was so funny because she tried it with HER (& her diva attitude) & it backfired massively.

She wasn’t a paid professional adult dancer from performing arts school type though! She did some classes up until 15 I think in the article I read. Very different from a Layton type ringer.

Saying “ before football was a dancer” in your post is pretty leading and misleading - she was a young teen doing some classes and comps. Not a “full time” dancer!

Oh I was raging with Shirley and her ridiculous comments about Nigel - so blatantly unfair. He was such a gentleman but I bet Katya wanted to punch Shirley in the throat!

@Zodiacrobatno not a professional dancer but a dancer still. Doing something she had a passion & talent for & that occupied (to the point she could not continue with it) her life prior to football. And danced & competed in what she says, were some pretty big competitions.

Everyone has different interpretations of what they mean by “previous dance experience”. For me it’s not professional nor does it have a specific cut off age range. It just helps understand how a person takes to the challenge & how comfortable they are doing it. I think it’s helpful to know. Helpfully she’s not using “having no dance experience” as Thomas is for eg as central to her narrative or arc on the show.

I've not noticed that - I'm pretty sure she wasn't down on Layton. She does seem to have favourites and non- favourites every year but I've never noticed a particular pattern to who she seems for favour.

Shirley definitely has people she strongly dislikes, usually younger attractive women. Although Nigel is an example of a man she disliked.

I remember all of the judges being really harsh on Jay McGuiness, which led to him winning, as the public liked him.

I remember Shirley never saying anything nice about Emma Barton (Honey from EE) .

If she did prise her it was very passive.
