Starting this early because I have things to do. Please come here when the other thread fills up!

Although they can be distracting I do quite like the patterns on the floor, but I don’t know how they do it.

I know someone who works for a company which makes large stage props, eg Charlie’s Great Glass Elevator. He says it’s projections. I’m sort of convinced, but not 100%, although I can’t see how else it would work.

Does anyone know?

No head judge???

All it is, is that the deciding judge will change each week. Think they said they would announce who is the deciding judge that week at the end of each live show.

It'd be more logical if they just rotated it in the order they sit.

Yes.

Radio Times online says
Each week the deciding judge will rotate, with the first casting vote to be announced at the end of next week's Saturday night show.

My Dd used to be a sound and lightening engineer yes it is projections. Her lighting that she personally had was £££s .

ILikeStrictly · 28/09/2025 19:04

Thank you, @Coffeeishot .

Kreepture · 28/09/2025 19:14

I'm not keen on the rotating casting vote, i think if it's a tie then it ought to go back to the public vote.. or they need to bring in a 5th judge.

That way chaos lies.
Can you imagine how long the programme would go on for if the public had to vote again?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/09/2025 20:35

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOnethe public wouldn’t have to vote again @Kreepturemeans viewers choice first time around should be the decider (I think) it was purely public vote for years til they did away with it too many shock exits of people producers wanted kept in.

Ah I see.
I didn't realise that.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/09/2025 20:44

........too many shock exits of people producers wanted kept in

Then they won't want to go back to that system.

Looks like we're stuck with the judges doing it and taking turns.

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 28/09/2025 20:45

Why change it from Shirley?

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2025 20:47

I thought it was weird that Julian the new pro said he's into personal space and dont be a Koala to Balvinder.
He's a professional dancer lol and they get soooo close.
Im keeping my eye on him, jury is out on how good he is and I hope he wasn't hoping for a 20 something celeb.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/09/2025 20:47

It’s just added drama, so for example, Craig is the casting vote one week, the others can say “I wouldn’t have done that!” and make the exiting contestant feel better like “if only it hadn’t been Craig, we’d still be in”

One could say it’s to liven up the format but Shirley herself might have requested it as some have speculated.

Really liked Karen, George Lewis and Amber I think all 4 will go far in the comp. Unless Amber and Lewis get penalised by the public for being ringers.
I disliked Tom and Ross think they will be out pretty quick.

Aquarius1234 · 28/09/2025 21:01

Anyone else not want Ross to go first?
Im surprised im saying this. But he was the token car crash.

AramintaWildbloode · 28/09/2025 21:02

Did anyone else think Tess looked frighteningly thin? I have never seen her with those bony lumps on top of her shoulders before.
(bracing myself to be told I have lost sight of what a healthy weight looks like etc)

nomdegrrr1 · 28/09/2025 21:03

I really enjoyed La Voix. Their humour reminds me of Les Dawson and Lily Savage, a sort of old fashioned northern humour. I hope that Aljaz can keep up though. It's not everyone's cup of tea.

And this may make me a bad mumsnetter, but I'm okay calling La Voix her when they're performing and him when it's Chris in rehearsal as one is the actual person and the other is the persona.

La Voix is very popular on cruises. She performs on cruise ships all the time, mostly P&O.

Edited

I think he meant during the dance. He was explaining his teaching tips, not saying that he wanted personal space. The professionals like a bit of room to show off their moves.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 28/09/2025 21:17

@FrothyCothyI thought the same about Lewis getting a haircut down the line, maybe for a big ballroom number at Blackpool.
