What is the plot of Coldwater?

After witnessing a fiery confrontation in a local playground, stay-at-home dad John relocates from London as far away as possible up to Coldwater in Scotland.

Amidst his mid-life identity crisis, John befriends his mysterious next door neighbour, Tommy (Ewen Bremner). A friendly face and valued resident in Coldwater.

Tommy is a relic of the community; he is the leader of the all-male book group and married to Rebecca, the local vicar (Eve Myles).

Whilst John is totally enthralled by Tommy, his wife Fiona (Indira Varma) is completely unsettled by him.

As Fiona strives to add some spark back into her marriage and her career, she is wary of John and Tommy’s bond.

Fiona’s suspicions are correct, as underneath his charming exterior, Tommy is the neighbour from hell.

As his mask starts to slip, his shocking secrets come to the surface, and John starts to question Tommy’s motives whilst he grapples with his own personal struggles.

Lets say John was charged. When he appears in court one thing the defence barrister would ask is why would someone prone to such violence run away from the violent arsehole in the play park in episode one. I think the way this is going is that John being a bit weak might be what gets him off. Surely even the police would ask the same question. If hes so violent why run from the bloke in the play park?

MJ and Katrina are the only ones that can save John. Everyone else believes Rebecca and Tommy's lies.

Cameron believes what? Cameron was one of the thugs attacking John and his family. A real chip off the old block. And he's very weird and stalkerish with Katrina.

I have a feeling Rebecca will throw Tommy under the bus and come out of it all smelling of roses. Then she'll have Cameron to control.
