Where There's Cake, There's Hope...Bake Off 25

The new series starts on Tuesday 2nd September and the bakers have been named. A few weeks earlier than recent seasons, so taking us nicely from late summer through to the cosiness of autumn.

No change to the team of Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison, which I thought worked well last year - it was a warmer and kinder programme than it has been for a few years.

The usual eclectic mix of contestants, but less of an age spread than some years - a lot of 30 somethings, no-one under 20 or over 60.

Anyone else excited for this season?

I was thinking it would be pretty solid (I always presume that when stout involved)... and then it slipped and slid several times.

This Molly Mae advert is so irritating. She's so wooden.

He might be able to cover it with buttercream and turn it into a mountain?

Iain will be okay though, he got 1st in the technical

Yes I think he has beaten Hassan to the worst looking cake. Two in one episode. Crikey!

I think I'd cry.

The technical doesn't always hold that much sway over the episode result though.

He shouldn't be saved though if all the other cakes are good enough. I'd be mighty pissed off if I was sent home for producing a cake and someone who presented a pile of cake mess went through over me.

This is silly. It's like Tracy Island in cake. I might be losing interest in Bake Off.

I think he just about salvaged it. From the outside anyway - let's see what happens when they cut it.

How do they all cook with their sleeves down? Woolly jumpers, frilly puffy shirt sleeves. It's madness!

It would absolutely drive me insane to have cuffs dangling around my mixing bowl.

Roll yer sleeves up dammit!
