I have never met anyone else in real life who didn't love Love Actually either. When I say I didn't enjoy it I just get people look at me like I have two heads 😂

Well that’s three of us 😄

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 13/08/2025 16:09

My in-laws love Mrs Brown’s Boys. I hate it.

Love Actually is a big pile of shit!
<flounces out of comic book store>

So there’s two more to add to your Venn diagram.

Coffeeishot · 13/08/2025 16:10

How i met your mother was absolute garbage I did last half a series just to make sure.

Mandy the Diane Morgan comedy is just odd .

PInkyStarfish · 13/08/2025 16:10

Friends.

EchoedSilence · 13/08/2025 16:11

The Office
Motherland
Ghosts

Rhubarb01 · 13/08/2025 16:12

I'm going to second 'Last of the Summer Wine'. There was a period, probably when I was about 9 or 10 that I thought it was funny, but as an adult, I just think it's dire.

Lovelynames123 · 13/08/2025 16:13

An old one, but one where Ardal O'Hanlon was some kind of secret superhero, absolutely terrible!

MBBs goes without saying

PoliteSquid · 13/08/2025 16:16

Here We Go - that has a stellar cast but I just don’t understand all the hype. It’s dreadful!

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 13/08/2025 16:17

Doitrightnow · 13/08/2025 16:02

We are right. Everyone else is wrong 😉

I’m in the dissenters group. Love Actually is a giant turd in the Christmas schedules.

SprayWhiteDung · 13/08/2025 16:18

Meadowfinch · 13/08/2025 15:03

MBB.

Or there was a dreadful one with Brenda Blethyn that only lasted one series..

Kate & Koji? It wasn't an all-time classic, but we rather liked that one. It was sweet and didn't try to oversell itself.

The writing was reasonably sharp and the delivery by Brenda and Jimmy was top-notch, even if the material didn't always land well. Most of the rest of the actors weren't great, though.

ruffler45 · 13/08/2025 16:19

Most of them are unfunny as there are no good script writers anymore and noone is producing good ideas for comedy.
All these PC comedians who only laugh histerically at each other just dont cut it which is why they have tried to become travel commentators and they are no good at that either.

And dont get me started on the comedy programmes they put on the radio - dire and deluded. who the hell spends money on commissioning them.

MumofSpud · 13/08/2025 16:20

I know I’ll be flamed for this but Gavin and Stacey!
DH loved it and I just didn’t get it at all.
Although I do ave to say that I did watch the finale and I can imagine that it was very satisfying- all ends tied up?!

GentlemanJay · 13/08/2025 16:21

Bread.

SprayWhiteDung · 13/08/2025 16:22

TheNightingalesStarling · 13/08/2025 15:48

I find Ghosts US excruciating at times and brilliant at others. When they have their own plots its good, but when they tried reuse the British ones it was very bad.

I never understand why they remake classic sitcoms from countries that speak the same language. We don't tend to do it the other way around, do we?

Not a sitcom, but I really enjoyed The Sketch Show. Then they remade that for the US, with Kelsey Grammer. Virtually all of the sketches were direct copies of the UK ones - they even had Lee Mack as one of their cast members, so they can't have been that desperate to get rid of any British influence.

GentlemanJay · 13/08/2025 16:21

Bread.

Yes. In fact anything by Carla Lane. Butterflies was terrible.

DareDevil223 · 13/08/2025 16:24

NooNakedJacuzziness · 13/08/2025 16:07

Saturday Night Live - I think something gets lost in the translation

DP loves SNL and is always trying to show me sketches hoping to convert me. I find the odd thing funny but it's incredibly smug and pleased with itself.

ohyesido · 13/08/2025 16:24

Piglets was pretty terrible

DeirdreChambersWhatACoincidence · 13/08/2025 16:25

Friends, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Frasier.
I can't stand Love Actually.

PermanentTemporary · 13/08/2025 16:25

It’s really difficult. Comedy is a fragile flower. Makes a huge difference who you watch things with as well - much easier to find something genuinely funny if someone else is pissing themselves at it in the same room. Though it can misfire. I’ll never forget watching one of my favourite episodes of Blackadder II (Lord and Lady Whiteadder) with my very devout evangelical Christian sister in law and my aged dad in the same room. Frost formed on them both.

I’ve never watched more than a nanosecond of Mrs Browns Boys but is it really so much worse than eg Bread? That seemed to be on forever and there was a thing where we went around saying ‘Greetings’ to each other but I even at the time it was a punishingly dull watch with about 2 attempted jokes per episode. I think we forget just how bad most TV used to be and how little choice we had. The alternative to Bread was probably Nationwide, a regional programme about local history, and Savile’s Travels.

SprayWhiteDung · 13/08/2025 16:27

We really wanted to love Here We Go, considering the extremely strong cast. We just didn't take to the first series at all and didn't bother with the current/recent one.

Happy Hollidays was OK, but very disappointing when compared to the other amazing comedy shows that Ford Kiernan has been in.

Boomers was quite sweet, but it didn't really land that well as a comedy, either, in spite of some very good cast members.

Lottapianos · 13/08/2025 16:28

'I know I’ll be flamed for this but Gavin and Stacey!'

Couldn't agree more. It's so bad, it's like a parody of a comedy. A great cast wasted on absolute dreck material

How I Met Your Mother is shocking too

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 13/08/2025 16:28

Anything with Terry Scott in it.

PermanentTemporary · 13/08/2025 16:28

100% gavin and Stacey. Can’t stand it.

SprayWhiteDung · 13/08/2025 16:29

I'm not saying that Only Fools & Horses was bad or unfunny by any means; but I never understood why it became so prominent and well-loved in comparison to John Sullivan's far, far superior (imho) Dear John, which seemed to sink without a trace and hardly anybody nowadays seems to remember.

DriveInSaturday · 13/08/2025 16:30

Doitrightnow · 13/08/2025 15:50

You're not, I thought the film Mamma Mia was awful (although I like the stage show), and don't like Love Actually. I've never met anyone else in real life who doesn't like Love Actually actually!

I've tried several times but I've never managed to watch Love Actually all the way through.
