Anyone planning on watching this?

Rob Brydon hosts as contestants are driven around Europe in a blacked out bus, trying to guess where they are. I’ve seen clips of the US Version, it might be good!

A quick rough check shows that Pula is closer to Rome, as the crow flies, than it is to Dubrovnik or possibly Split.

Really? Goodness. That makes sense then because Josh appeared to be selecting Rome. God knows where Nick went.

I find it really irritating that we don't get shown where they put their Xs.

Piknik · 21/08/2025 14:51

SO flawed

Show us the X's on the map at the end of each episode - otherwise none of us really have any idea who is pretending to be in the dark but really nailing it every week vs who is winging it.

Clues are stupid - there needs to be a differentiator between the 'real' clues and the red herrings, otherwise where's the strategy?

Don't even get me started on the VR headsets. They are not being used as headsets at all - just blindfolds for a couple of seconds whilst they dismount the bus.

There is no measure for who is 'doing well'.
There is no consistency
No strategy
No 'game play'

It's really annoying me. I worked in tv for years and this is playing out like 'Draft 3' that we'd all be watching in the edit suite and thinking, 'oh we need to fix this and re-shoot that because it doesn't quite work yet'.

(Edited for typo)

Piggywaspushed · 21/08/2025 14:53

I agree . And if someone was closer but in the wrong country that's flawed too.

Hadn't even thought of that, but yes - you could absolutely argue that right country wrong city, is a better guess than wrong country but geographically closer.

It’s interesting to hear you say that. I agree that it has a lot of flaws. It’s exactly what Richard Osman said about it on The Rest is Entertainment. It’s trying to be The Traitors crossed with Race Across the World but it doesn’t quite work.
I think they know this and this is why they are putting it out two nights a week over the summer holidays.

Purple444 · 21/08/2025 15:13

Still watching but agree with @Piknik that there should be a way of differentiating between real clues and red herrings. Also, some clues seem to indicate country and some the city, such as the Viennese Waltz for Austria but not Vienna?

Liked Nick- he was being criticised for trying to get information, which is surely the aim. It may be the edit, but Saskia is not coming across at all well.

bizzey · 21/08/2025 15:47

Sorry if I missed it , but..
Did they say how far out/away Nick was ?

I think in another episode, they said the difference between the last 2 people was xx km or something ?

bizzey · 21/08/2025 15:50

Do any of you watch Fortune Hotel on ITV .
It's on at the same time .or 1 hour later.

(Or record /ITVX )

It's another interesting strategy game....full of surprises !

InMyOpenOnion · 21/08/2025 16:04

I think whoever is closest each week should get some sort of reward as well.

NCTDN · 21/08/2025 17:01

Is it who is the closest by road, or who is closest as the crow flies?

So gutted Nick went. He was the only one playing properly. Everyone else is more worried about loyalties/betrayals/what they share/don't share than trying to solve clues. I wanted him to win.

A half hearted Judith for the win now I think.

I really liked Claire but she annoyed me in the police station. Judith seemed genuinely out of sorts and she was being a bit of a twat and a know-it-all saying things like. "You're in a cell, of course the windows don't open" - no they weren't in a cell. And "you're in custody, of course you can't do that". They were not in custody.

Saskia is proper mean girl. Really dislike her but she did guess Pula which was good guesswork. I assume she shared that with Josh. I think she shares more with him than vice-versa.

Daren is just coasting

Yes I really liked Nick, wanted him
to win

Tourist29 · 21/08/2025 19:16

I hope tonight they are saying things like “the suns on this side so that means we going east, west or north … or south” and they all put completely different countries - serve them all right!

flightoftheconkers · 21/08/2025 19:56

There's a thread on that but not so many posts. I think The Fortune Hotel is quite good fun and almost light relief after watching Des X.

the80sweregreat · 21/08/2025 20:12

I liked the look of The Fortune Hotel, but have to watch it on catch up and the ITV one tends to be glitchy and not very good ( might be my tv or Wi-Fi though !)

CrushingOnRubies · 21/08/2025 20:56

Finally caught up so I can watch live.

That’s a good idea. Like an extra court for the next place or something

the80sweregreat · 21/08/2025 21:01

My prediction is Daren is out next.

CrushingOnRubies · 21/08/2025 21:04

the80sweregreat · 21/08/2025 21:01

My prediction is Daren is out next.

Depends on the task and who he’s paired with.

In hope Saskia goes soon

Hepzibar · 21/08/2025 21:04

I agree Judith!

ChompandaGrazia · 21/08/2025 21:04

Darren, Claire or Judith to win.

CrushingOnRubies · 21/08/2025 21:05

Now Nick has gone 💔 want Claire or Judith to win I think

SwedishEdith · 21/08/2025 21:06

Quite a lot of focus on Saskia 🤞

KassandraOfSparta · 21/08/2025 21:08

635 km from Pula could be a huge range of cities.

SwedishEdith · 21/08/2025 21:13

A city built on marshland - Lubliana (sp?)

Edit: Ljubljana
