Sonetimes, just sometimes, rather than the "Nothing to see here. We're just one big happy FAMILY!! Happy, happy, happy shtick" I just wish they'd lean into it/address the elephant in the room.
It's very much like the
in the never complain, never explain way that "scandals" are dealt with. I assume because to directly address it you are either - as Steve Coogan says - giving a story legs. Or because PR will often see what hand the press have/are playing. Or because all publicity is publicity.
Plus of course, addressing things full-on (remember Holly's speech after Philip's exit?) can be full-on cringe.
Nonetheless, if I was a pro - e.g. Carlos/Amy, I'd have been putting out a little dance skit to make it clear, nowt to do with me, thanks very much...
Some, they may go for cocaine
I'm sure that if I took even one sniff
It would bore me terrifically too
Yet, I get a kick out of you
But nope, no fun to be had. Tis all Lips Sealed until yet another £££££££ investigation happens at a cost to the license payer for Christ knows how long. And all involved have to zip it, lest they be accused of protesting too much.
It's why I admired Rylan, at the height of the Huw Edwards scandal before Huw was named, taking to X and saying "Take my name out of your mouths!" Fair play.
