I’m getting snacks and drinks in and watching the whole thing while pretending I’m 12 again. Can’t wait for the Quo to kick it off in half an hour! Anyone else gonna watch?

I preferred David’s old teeth. There, I said it.

I believe Queen never played Bohemian Rhapsody in full, live. They felt they couldn't do it justice. When I went to see them they played the first bit, left the stage for the Scaramouche bit, and returned for the end.

Anyone else who saw them - did they play BR in full at your gig?

Queen were my first concert. Bristol Hippodrome 1977. I saw them 10 times with Fred, including Live Aid.
That middle bit of Bo Rhap was impossible to reproduce live so they always left the stage and came back for the Welly bit at the end. It was ridiculously exciting standing in the dark waiting.

@JaneJeffer

Thankyou. Again!

Didn’t realise you were the same person 😂

Tudorduxbury · 12/07/2025 22:32

Wham were at live aid but Elton over ran so they were cut short. I was 11 and wham mad. George wore a yellow shirt and Andrew had a red tartan jacket !

OurMavis · 12/07/2025 22:32

I was 27 and I'm gutted to this day that I missed it. It was a piece of history.
My reason for missing it was memorable though. We had been on a road trip around Europe and came home that day on the ferry. We both had food poisoning and had to take turns in driving while the other was ill.
I was overdosing on nostalgia watching the making of it last weekend.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 12/07/2025 22:32

I just hit the remote with my FUCKING FOOT twenty seconds into Bowie’s set and now I can’t watch it until tomorrow.

FUCK

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2025 22:33

Ah the old dodgy satellite link Grin

Jellycatspyjamas · 12/07/2025 22:33

I’ve just watched Queens set with my 12 and 14 year old - both were completely taken with Freddie and the whole performance. I’d forgotten just how flirty/suggestive he was - hot as hell.

Utterlyexhausted · 12/07/2025 22:33

Clark Griswald!

ginislife · 12/07/2025 22:34

@WillowTithes still about. Saw him last year. His voice has gone. He was awful. I’m going to see Tony Hadley on Tuesday.
He’s still got it.
I was 24 and we all went round to a friends house to watch it. I’m watching on catch up now. It was so good.

MissAmbrosia · 12/07/2025 22:34

I have seen the Who do Quadrophenia live with Phil Daniels which was amazing.

BlackRoseBlue · 12/07/2025 22:34

Ohhhh was Dancing In the Street done specifically so they had something to cut to if the OB failed…..

Jellykat · 12/07/2025 22:34

I dont remember The Who bit being lost

Eyesopenwideawake · 12/07/2025 22:34

At almost 62 this is the first time I've seen the whole show. First time around I was a steak bar waitress at a busy Nottingham restaurant and remember thinking if it was quiet – because surely everyone would be watching the show – I could get off early.

Nope. All the oldies went out for dinner to avoid watching it with their children!

Amazing show - Paul Young, Sting and Phil Collins, U2, Beach Boys, Queen. Just fab memories!!

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 22:34

Haha Jack Nicholson announcing that the fire dept are going to spray the crowd with water!!😂

I love Phil Daniels! bet that was something...

piscofrisco · 12/07/2025 22:35

Is it when Elton John bought George Michael out and said ‘ladies and gentlemen this is George Michael…..’ as he was sort of taking pity on him as he’d just been in rehab or something? And years later George returned the favour when Elton’s career was in a slump….is that what in thinking of maybe?

Chinsupmeloves · 12/07/2025 22:35

Hope it's on catch up!

So jealous 1977, late 70's Queen, the best.

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 22:36

Oh no what happened to the Who??

Tudorduxbury · 12/07/2025 22:37

What happened to the who ? I don’t remember that ?

megacat · 12/07/2025 22:37

Lovingmayo · 12/07/2025 22:09

He was beautiful. With his eyes. One brown. One blue

This is actually a myth, he had both blue eyes, one pupil was permanently dilated due to an accident giving the illusion of it being brown.

But yes… beautiful!

I like to think Simon le Bon spat in Bono's drink.
