I’m getting snacks and drinks in and watching the whole thing while pretending I’m 12 again. Can’t wait for the Quo to kick it off in half an hour! Anyone else gonna watch?

I didn’t appreciate back then how handsome Bryan Feery was

SwedishEdith · 12/07/2025 20:04

Oh, he is a tosser so I have to filter that out for the music.

No! Not Bryan!

Uricon2 · 12/07/2025 20:05

Jellykat · 12/07/2025 20:02

The epitomy of cool, I loved Bryan.. until a story went around about him being an absolute arrogant wanker on some aeroplane trip!

Really? I only know the one where someone (MH issues, not a real attack but scary I imagine) tried to hijack the plane and it was heading towards the Indian Ocean. One of his kids said "Fucking Hell" and he said there was no need for that sort of language

I can confirm you would have been

I have to add, I was 16, but missed most of due to work.

CarefulN0w · 12/07/2025 20:05

I was 16 and had just finished my O levels. I had a perm right through to the early 90s.

AutumnLover1989 · 12/07/2025 20:05

Its so lovely seeing no one holding up mobile phones and everyone living in the moment 😔

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 20:05

Theredjellybean · 12/07/2025 20:04

I was there aged 13 with my 16 yr old brother...went on our own on the train...cannot remember how we got home to Windsor but guess we did ...
What makes it more remarkable by today's standards is weeks before I'd heard a rumor at our local record shop that there were tickets available for in person sales at Wembley. I went on my own on train, found tube , went to Wembley..found the ticket office hidden away in a deserted building and got tickets...
And I understand why I roll my eyes when we see threads here about people worrying about leaving their teen alone for five minutes

Wow, good on you! Impressive.😂

IPartridge · 12/07/2025 20:06

I like some Roxy Music stuff now. But at the time I thought Bryan Ferry was like a sleazy salesman

Appalonia · 12/07/2025 20:07

I've just ordered more wine... What a great night this is, loving sharing this experience with you all!😁

Ah yes. The old perm. Affectionately known as my poodle years in my family.

No it wasn't that incident, apparently he was absolutely hideous to the aeroplane staff.. god knows how I heard that one! 😀

dapsnotplimsolls · 12/07/2025 20:02

He's too sexy for one mike.

🤣 at the time he just gave off ‘dad’ vibes to me, I’ve just googled and he’s exactly the same age as my dad! (79)

JaneJeffer · 12/07/2025 20:08

I knew that piano was dodgy!

I’d also just finished my O Levels and was due to start college in September, Live Aid was 2 weeks before my 16th birthday.

I watched it with my boyfriend, and we’re watching it together again now. I’ve just looked at the line ups to remind myself and the US definitely had the better show.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/07/2025 20:08

Another mullet!

SwedishEdith · 12/07/2025 20:08

I was there the week before to see Springsteen. He left his stage set and lightning stuff for Live Aid.

He has been my One True Love for half a century so I will disagree.😂

Both husbands are/were aware.

Raahh · 12/07/2025 20:09

Oh, Do they Know it's Christmas

In July.

IPartridge · 12/07/2025 20:09

Was thinking Andy Kershaw looked young. He was only 25 😯

Jellykat · 12/07/2025 20:09

Awww Paul Young, he was a decent bloke by all accounts! ( Wish he wasn't singing this though!, think I blocked it out)

NooNakedJacuzziness · 12/07/2025 20:09

Bet this was the day Gino robbed Paul Young’s house cos he knew he was out!

I’m an hour behind now due to taking the dog out.

Jeezitneverends · 12/07/2025 20:10

i never thought I’d see mullets back in fashion in my lifetime 😂

It was the day before my 15th birthday…I loved that everyone got their 20 minutes-not a second more, no matter who they were

MissAmbrosia · 12/07/2025 20:10
