I'm looking forward to it.

A contestant from a few years back was on the House of Alistair YouTube natter, a couple of weeks back, and mentioned that the critique can last up to half an hour but obviously we only see part of it. DM knows Catherine from a few years back and she mentioned that it's not just Esme and Patrick doing the judging as there are technicians who check everything over, which makes it doubly disappointing when all they screen from Esme is "I don't like brown".

They may not but production crew who presumably review the mtm plans would.

i loved Korean week - and i think that knowing what they were doing for a m2m would have made them a bit more savvy on the pattern challenge.

i didn't hate the transformation, but i didn't agree with the winner, i thought they had 1 and 2 the wrong way round.

Dan was bloody lucky, his m2m was appalling. Bad planning, far too simple design that went tits up because of bad fabric choice, and despite the historical korean colour thing, it was a huge no from me. I wanted him gone, but i do like his attitude and he seems nice so... Novello was clearly out of her depth. No doubt she can sew and has a good eye for colour, but the restricted timings seemed too much.

Several of the m2m were fab. Kit's was great, Gaynor's was excellent and i absolutely loved Órla's. So refreshingly youthful. Was it Jess with the detatchable sleeves - that was fab too. But Caz's winning look. Fantastic. I would totes wear that.

It looks like theyre making the Bell jacket next week. Zero waste sewing fascinates me , but I think that particular jacket only comes in 3 sizes and the fit only works for certain body types. Reduce , reuse recycle week is always a good one though.

Am I the only one that goes 'not watching and la la la' with the opening and ending of the show?

Nope. I do too. I close my eyes until the start credits, same with Bake Off: The Professionals.

I actually think they should get rid of Esme and get a new judge , I also think that despite Dans M2M being rubbish that the bottom 2 would have been Novello and Jess ( I think that’s the name ) as they both did very badly in round 1 & 2 .

I do that. And I try to ignore all the 'humour' bits. I like Sara Pascoe elsewhere, but not on this!

I quite like a glimpse of what next week is going to be on - but I loathe Sara Pascoe's cringey attempts to be 'funny'. Whoever writes that stuff should be shot - and they've even got Patrick doing dreadful puns now. Leave the poor man a bit of dignity!

It's really bad with bake off, as I love a collapsing structure, but don't want to know whose it is until it happens.

I think the show could continue quite happily without the need for the comedy presenter role at all. Just Esme, Patrick and a voiceover would be fine.

Kiell was ok but Sarah Pascoe does grate a bit.

Yes Esme is annoying and her voice is stop starty.

Yes - I remember when Esme and Patrick got dressed up in stupid costumes as a sort of joke 'getting in shape'. I thought they'd have more pride. Surely, nobody finds it the slightest bit funny? Give us more sewing instead.

Kit's jeogori fabric is a lot like Caz's zero waste top from a couple of eps ago, no?

Some really great sewing this episode. I agree that Novello was right to go. She didn't do well in any of the 3 challenges. Dan did well in the second challenge which probably saved him.

Some really great M2Ms this week. A really high standard for a garment which requires lots of technical skill to sew. Gaynor, Caz, Kit, Orla and Yasmin and Stuart all did an excellent job.

I'd love it if they dropped the cringe unfunny skits at the start and brought back the alteration challenge from earlier series to replace the current 2nd challenge.

It's probably the editing but it's so annoying when the judging focuses on a garment having a big bow or something when judging rather than the quality of sewing. I loved seeing Patrick bring his Saville Row tailoring expertise to the judging in the first few series, now the judging is often about style over substance. The earlier series showcased technical skill and ability and were a real joy.
It's probably unlikely but it would be amazing if they brought brought Claudia back. Sara Pascoe is nice, and usually very funny but not suited to this role at all.

Yes, Novello's hat really reminded me of something. I'm thinking one of the stan countries, like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan etc, but like you I've Googled and not found it.

This series is so much better than last year's and I like everybody. Though I think Caz's made to measures are hideous and I can't believe she won with either of them.

I love Caz’s made to measures, I also really liked Gaynor’s this week. That’s something I would actually wear.

I’m not a fan of zero waste outfits. They tend to be boxy and shapeless. I prefer to cut out to minimise waste and use up decent sized scraps on other projects. You use the same amount of fabric both ways. If you use a natural fabric it will decompose anyway. If you make a garment you like and wear it a lot it won’t be fit for reusing for anything other than a rag when you’ve finished with it anyway. I thought Kit’s M2 M was excellent. Shame about the collar. I agree Gaynor’s was the one I’d most like to wear but sadly that is often unimportant here.
