Well yes , he did go online but as he only had a day I’m guessing he wanted to fix it before he left. Carrie made such a fuss and them moaned he was gone trying to find her stupid rainbow glass! Just watched it again( I miss bits first time round) and I still can’t believe she got into bed with him after he accidentally shagged his wife!

Doubleraspberry · 07/07/2025 17:30

Carrie is obscenely wealthy. He appears to be rich after selling his business off to West Elm. He has the knowledge to find specialist suppliers and contact them to kick off the process of finding the best possible replacement.

This is partly the issue with the characters all being so rich. There are very few practical problems to be faced in life really when you have all the money you could want. Emotional problems, sure. But low drama in most other things. The stakes are often so low they are invisible.

greengreyblue · 07/07/2025 17:36

So weird that the house is still empty then!

Notellinganyone · 07/07/2025 17:40

I was at uni with Dishy Duncan and had a fling with him!

'I was at uni with Dishy Duncan and had a fling with him!'

Ooh exciting! I do see the dishiness - I love a man with a beard 😍

Surely anyone would agree that he's a Hunk of Spunk compared to Aidan and his whining! 🤢

greengreyblue · 07/07/2025 18:36

Nah Carrie let the only dishy one go, the podcast guy!

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 07/07/2025 19:01

It's a shame as I was starting to enjoy the last season but am hate watching all over again. I mean who actually eats or sells mutton apart from people in the 19th century.
There's something a bit tragic about all these aging sexy gardeners/ neighbours that pop up for Carrie to flirt with. Maybe I'm bitter, being a 50 something singleton for whom this NEVER even remotely happens to. I know its meant to be a bit of froth but the old series had bits we could all relate to. I guess they have to give the characters something to talk about.

HollyhockDays · 07/07/2025 20:41

Duncan isn’t that handsome. Also agree no one eats mutton!!

Nah Carrie let the only dishy one go, the podcast guy!

I found him a bit boring, but I did love the teacher who was good looking and funny. I can't stand Aiden at the moment - asking Carrie to wait for 5 years, but calling for phone sex when it suits him... who the F does he think he is!

For the first time ever in either SATC or AJLT, I'm finding Carrie absolutely insufferable! Would it kill you to take off your shoes so your neighbour can get some sleep? Why would you have your bestie come over to stay and not stock up your fridge - especially when you're wealthy and money is no object? I'm finding her totally unfunny and devoid of humour... I'm not sure if it's to do with being recently widowed.

I'd love to see Seema be wooed and romanced by the hot gardener. I'd love Charlotte to bump into Trey (and Bunny) at some point. I recently saw a deleted scene where Charlotte and Harry bumped into Trey in the Hamptons!

I do watch and wonder what happened to the closeness of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte. They seem to have grown apart. Charlotte has had a couple of the best scenes so far in AJLT though. The "I'm more than just your Moms and your wife" drunken speech and the "I know it seems like you're doing it all, but you're just doing the minimum" speech.

I feel like I'm past caring with Miranda, which is such a shame as she was always my favourite character. I did feel for her when she moved into Carrie's though, Carrie was awful. I have enjoyed some of her recent dating escapades, but I always wonder why she seems to be in such a rush with every woman that she likes. The waitress, then Joy when she had her and her friends over for drinks... slow down! Enjoy the anticipation and build up.

I've also wondered about Carrie's small kitchen and get irrationally irritated by how small it is, given the size of the house. And the flat that Duncan's in, is that owned by Carrie? If not, it's weird that they share a garden.

Basically, I'm losing the will with AJLT. It seems to be really missing Samantha and Nya and Carrie's old 'za za zooo'. Does anyone know if they'll be another Samantha cameo this season?

ILoveBrum · 07/07/2025 21:25

I’m loving it @SpryLilacBird!

greengreyblue · 07/07/2025 21:28

Oh I miss Nya too! I like Joy but agree why the rush? Why not date for a few months? Why meet Brady? They’re not living together are they?

ConstantlyFuriosa · 08/07/2025 00:26

I don’t miss Nya. I do miss Samantha all the time, though. Seema is a poor imitation.

Carrie was always self absorbed but this time around she’s off the scale. Plus I considered her to be a good actress with lovely comic chops, but in this season of AJLT she is really one note and dull. I’m not getting anything from her - zero emotion.

Really thought her stance on keeping her shoes on was a dick move.

I used to love Aidan and always thought he was her one true love. But I’m guessing they’re writing him badly because they want shot of him. Maybe he’s not proving as popular with viewers as they thought he would.

There was chat upthread about why SJP never has her nails done bar a couple of times. In a documentary I watched about SatC it was said it’s because she’s in most scenes and continuity would be a nightmare.

The last two seasons of this were better. This time around they’re really phoning it in - cast and writers.

Duncan is annoying but I feel like they've been soft launching Carrie/Aidan breakup and I'm here for it.
Also the whole LTW storyline is just boring and I skip her scenes entirely. They've tried toreplace Samantha with multiple characters and none of them is doing a great job in taking her place.

PurplebeadedFendi · 08/07/2025 08:55

Mutton is quite common in Middle Eastern cooking, so maybe a Middle Eastern butcher is where Duncan is sourcing the stuff. However, I maintain that I can't see him bothering to search around Manhattan when he can easily buy something more appetising! Not when he just wants to channel himself into writing his book (that's been written about a dozen times by other writers: what's left to say about Margaret Thatcher?).

I don't really miss Nya as she didn't have much of a story, although I liked her character. However, I wish they would give these departing characters some mention/closure rather than just (almost) pretending they never existed. Even Che deserves better than this, and I bloody hated her character! They all used to meet up, after all, for lunches and so on, so shouldn't their absence be remarked upon? Especially Che, who was Carrie's go-to for advice for a long time, and a character who had a big story arc. It's not hard, surely. Nya could just have gone to be a visiting professor at another university/in another country. Che could have gone back to LA to try to recover her career. And if they are pretending Stanford is still alive and living in Japan - why is he never mentioned? And what about the marriage of Stan and Anthony? Surely that's still unresolved.

The flip side is that I feel really uncomfortable that they are using Samantha in London for long distance advice for Carrie. I don't know why....maybe just knowing about the animosity between Kim Catrall and the rest of the cast makes me feel icky they are using her fantastic Samantha (that character is very much owned by KC) as a crutch for Carrie at a distance. I know Kim had the cameo, but frankly I thought that was shabby. The way Carrie acted surprised and annoyed that Samantha was intending to come for the last supper instead of of ecstatic and then disappointed in couldn't happen. It just felt a bit too much like their real life animosity being written into fiction. It felt bitchy and like a control move over the character and the actor.

Thanks for that clip @RealPearlDuck . Ugh, I'm glad they cut it out. I'd have lovely Harry with a back rash over penile disfunction, mummy's boy, Trey any day!

Stanford left everything to Anthony in the letter Carrie read to him and wished him every happiness as I recall?

Latest trailer is up on insta/socials….

Definitely various attraction vibes for Carrie and Seema. My prediction is that the gardener is absolutely loaded but Seema dismisses him….

I also agree with @RealPearlDuck in that they are soft launching the Carrie/Aidan break up and I’m also here for it. If you look at the comments under the trailer posts on any platform it is clear this is what the viewers want.

I rewatched the original movie last night because there was nowt on telly I wanted to watch and thoroughly enjoyed it. I still cry when Miranda and Steve reunite on the bridge 🥰

Not when he just wants to channel himself into writing his book (that's been written about a dozen times by other writers: what's left to say about Margaret Thatcher?)

Probably a lot but it needs to be written by a political historian who has found a new angle/archival material/interviewees. Just like there's absolutely nothing new to say about Henry VIII unless you've done a load of research into new sources and found something interesting to add to the historiography of him. And it's vanishingly unlikely that the same person would be writing about both people with any credibility.

I realise it's niche but this is annoying me enormously. NOTHING about his 'biography' writing makes sense. It's an insult! And I hear that the Writer's Room podcast is tremendously proud of their diligence in thinking about what this book has in it and the writers have found an urban myth about Thatcher's inventing Mr Whippy ice cream which is apparently the big deal in the imaginary book.

PurplebeadedFendi · 08/07/2025 10:11

I agree @Doubleraspberry that there probably is more to be said. But frankly, not now, unless, as you say, it's a political essay about her enduring legacy and influence over the modern day political landscape. Not a biography though,. There are always archived records that are closed for X number of years until there is sufficient distance between the events and the present. I imagine when we hit the 50 year mark since Thatcher's premiership and the 40 year mark since her political demise, there will be a flurry of books. But at the moment there's little to be said, and the Mr Whippy angle is just plainly ridiculous if that's what they are going to write into the script! Even more ridiculous is the supposition that Carrie, the sex and relationships writer who has learned nothing from her own inner critic, and who told hot politician guy that she doesn't vote, can give him any insight into a divisive, British political titan.

PurplebeadedFendi · 08/07/2025 10:14

I'd completely forgotten that! It was a slight and ridiculous ending to Stanford.
