Thanks for the thread, I'd forgotten about Testaments, I have a vague recollection, will get it out. But even though I'd forgotten about testaments, as much as I wanted the reunion with Hannah, I thought it wouldn't have made sense, there was still so much Gilead that needed to be conquered. And I think they gave us the reunion with Janine and her girl to make up for that.
I liked the bit about Serena being given the bed, table, etc., they said something like "It's all you should need", referencing the start, and then Serena goes on that long bit about the baby being all she ever wanted. I actually thought this was her trying to self soothe. She wanted to be queen of Gilead, now "all" she will be is the child's mother, which June had also just told her to be thankful for. I think in that scene she's sitting with disappointment, in the same way that all the handmaids had lost all hope of being anything more or in addition to one thing.
But, I've been reading the thread because I have a question! Apologies for not recalling names of characters. In the episode where they've all had cake and are sleeping and handmaids are killing folks, isn't there a darkly lit scene where serena's new husband's handmaid walks up behind him with her knife? He's alive shortly after, so it bugs me not to know what happened there. Especially as that poor handmaid seemed so young and vulnerable. But maybe it was just a generic handmaid and commander?
Also, did anyone else felt creeped out by the ... can't remember his name or find it up thread, the lead guy of the resistance, June says "captain" and he corrects her to "commander, actually". Obviously he's not a gilead member, but it reminded me about how we can't just reax and feel safe 100% of the time, how not all men capable of causing harm look like a baddie.
