Just tuning in half way through tonight’s episode and couldn’t see another thread. Is this a new series?

That is the issue - very busy line and small garden with little to screen the noise all augmented by plane noise.

One of the DC lived in a house with trains t the end of the garden for a while - huge garden, trees screening the noise at the end and the traffic was a moderate number of trains morning and evening on workdays and precious little the rest of the time. Lovely place, I could see why the price wasn’t much different from properties on the other side of the road.

That line in Barnes is really busy, the garden is small, the house isn’t large and they supposedly wanted to buy a house to start a family. The Kingston house was both better suited for a young family and also probably more saleable when they want to upsize. I agree with PP - Barnes is overrated due to the resident celebs, most of whom spend little time there. I can totally see Maya on MN in a few years struggling with the space and a couple of small children whilst chummy is out on lycra clad bike rides with the rest of the Barnes wannabes.

I should probably have said: the episode that will never be made.

Didn't look happy to me. She said something like, guess who had to compromise, that'll be me, with a look of resignment on her face.

I'm assuming funds from her London flat will fund the new house,but she had no say whatsoever 😔

I've just watched the SW London episode.

Totally agree on the touchy-feely couple. She was totally star-struck by him. She looked unhappy and tight lipped at 'we would be happy at £1.2m' for the Barnes house. When Kirsty clinked their glasses and wished their offer well, the woman (Maya?) just slow blinked and looked defeated. Grim.

Now this would be one I would like a catch up in 1-2yrs

not that I wish anyone to get divorced but she just didn’t look happy

wonder if friends watching the show think they are happy

she looked pressured into a home/garden that isn’t really suitable for kids and noise from train

Wow, what an episode, the man was such a control freak I could hardly watch. I wonder how her life will be moving forward if she doesn’t fit his perfect ideals? And what it would be like to be his child 😱. She basically described his emotional manipulation to the nation!

A really uncomfortable watch in lots of ways seeing someone so domineering and quietly aggressive.

Chloe seemed lovely though.

I have been looking for this thread! Just came on to see if there were any comments about that really weird and seemingly endless shot of the slow motion, back-bending, leg on the parapet kiss on the bridge. Never seen anything like it before on LLL. What was that all about? And then he totally over-ruled her when it came to choosing the house. To be honest, it's not called LLL for nothing so I can see why if you want to live in Barnes you don't want to settle for Kingston - even if the house itself might look better to viewers who don't know any different. And Barnes is noisy with aircraft noise whether you have a train at the end of the garden or not so the train is not the big deal it might be in an otherwise peaceful little enclave. Same with the Dr - I don't know all the subtle variations of the different roads and areas of Tooting/Raynes Park, but Chloe obviously did and knew where she wanted to live. It's only when Kirstie and Phil go house hunting in an area you know very well you appreciate how certain properties (however beautiful) are not in the right location at all.

I agree too that people in an area know the nuances of that area that a viewer might not.
I don’t live in the UK so know little of what an area is like. I know Chelsea , Belgravia and Knightsbridge/South Kensington are up market but wouldn’t know what Norwood or Finsbury Park are like.
If any Dublin Mumsnetter, who knows London is on this thread, what are the Dublin equivalents of Barnes and Kingston ?
