Just tuning in half way through tonight’s episode and couldn’t see another thread. Is this a new series?

I was really surprised that they brought the Barnes house. The one in Kingston was much nicer and larger. They will regret the train line.

Exactly what I thought . It was his decision though and I think she just rolled with it

purpleme12 · 12/06/2025 16:08

I thought they'd go for the other house too

deeahgwitch · 12/06/2025 10:31

But didn’t they go for the Barnes house ?

Sorry, I don't know. I've not seen it yet, it's in planner to watch in the next few days. I was getting confused with the poster before me saying that the woman in the couple didn't like the house because of the train. Reading it back I see that they were saying they were surprised that they went for the house because she was so bothered by the train.

deeahgwitch · 12/06/2025 17:18

I just thought the vibe from them was weird. So touchy feely and yet they bought a house she didn’t love or much like ( she hated the trains whizzing past ) because he loved it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2025 18:59

just catching up now. £450/75 for a 2 bed house. Omfg. Prices are insane

yes very touchy feely and really no need on tv house show @Turmerictolly

def would never buy with a track at end of garden. My friend did and says she doesn’t notice it

i looked at one years ago and no way

but to spend over a million pounds on a noisy garden / madness

I get doctor wanted a specific area and that’s the name of the game - well show.

kingprawnspaghetti · 12/06/2025 19:02

I thought that the spreadsheet on her laptop was her attempt to encourage him to broaden his mind and be more flexible. I think he was fixated on Barnes from the outset, probably to her frustration, which led to a big compromise on her part.
The Barnes house was definitely not the best option; in fact I would have put it third out of the three

Yes I suspect she will live to regret letting him have his own way.

We have to remember that rail / road noise may not be such a thing in the future with electric engines. Although a friend of mine says (don't know if it's true) that part of the noise from cars is from tyres so that will still be there.

Chewbecca · 12/06/2025 19:42

I really dislikes how Ben bulldozed Maya into spending over £1m on a house she didn't love, mainly because he loved the postcode. And it was Maya who had an existing property, not him. I felt for her crying telling Kirsty their decision, I don't think he did though. He was a typical, hard nosed, driven, determined city boy.

Delatron · 12/06/2025 19:55

I think it was the fact that he wasn’t even bothered that she was crying and was the one that compromised…! He just looked very pleased with himself.

TokyoSushi · 12/06/2025 20:13

Oh I’m glad I found this thread, Ben was not nice and looked really pleased like he’d ‘won’ - I bet he has form
for things like this and she relents for a quiet life.

I got the same impression.

He wouldn't even entertain the third house that was the doer upper and immediately said 'not for me' before they'd even looked around. The wife was up for it as a project given the price though.
Think she'll be getting used to the decisions being made for her in the future.

baggybags · 13/06/2025 08:03

train lines aren't always noisy. Friend has a line behind her house in a cutting & it's near the station so trains aren't super fast. I genuinely don't notice the noise. A busy road or flight path has much more impact.

baggybags · 13/06/2025 08:05

We babyboomers had a culture of extending ourselves as far as we could; it's how we ended up with big houses. Don't the youngsters want that? (we had "difficult economic times" too, btw)

lending criteria, wage stagnation & wages to house price ratio are somewhat different now...

Yes but you could clearly hear it, almost touch the train at this house.

baggybags · 13/06/2025 09:31

hence why I said aren't always

That route into London is exceptionally busy!

purpleme12 · 13/06/2025 09:36

It was an unusual episode
I don't remember anyone previously shedding a tear at a compromise they've decided on

Delatron · 13/06/2025 10:16

I really felt for her. She looked so upset. The bastard!

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/06/2025 10:17

The episode that will never be shown:

Jack, 27 a delivery driver and Beth also 27, a care worker, currently live in cramped rental accommodation in Burnley. They dream of owning their own place so they can start a family. They have a budget of £100,000 and are looking for a 2-bedroom house, with a garden and close to local amenities. Can Kirsty hold her nose in the air long enough to help this young couple find their forever home?

Turmerictolly · 13/06/2025 11:27

It’s true that budgets have become bigger but I guess that’s down to house price rises. I think they had a couple on recently whose budget was £250k or thereabouts. The pool of applicants probably isn’t that high as they’d need to be chain free to apply.

Why won't this episode be shown and how do you know about it?

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2025 14:06

She was happy to compromise as Ben lights up

silly woman to give her dreams up so easily

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/06/2025 14:13

House to me didn’t have a wow factor due to the Train rail 😂

and just looked it’s not on next week due to bloody football

tho Hope means this isnt the end of the series as had 5 episodes

what’s the betting that e6 of s 44 when shown will be a catch up ……….
