Open plan or smaller rooms harder to get done? I'm thinking smaller rooms.

Halsall · 29/05/2025 20:12

John's just said Portmeirion was inspired by Portofino……Clough Williams-Ellis always said it wasn’t. Who to believe? 🤔

Soukmyfalafel · 29/05/2025 20:13

Davros · 29/05/2025 17:13

John reminds me of the actor Tom Basden. Maybe they could get him instead?

I thought James Blunt. 😁

FagsMagsandBags · 29/05/2025 20:16

That seems to be a pretty basic thing to get wrong - Portofino - when he apparenlty loves the place so much. He should put up a Rothko because they're from down the road in Naples which is next to Rome.

Bruisername · 29/05/2025 20:17

They are quite tough spaces

FagsMagsandBags · 29/05/2025 20:18

I don't know what wallpaper Rita's using - love it - but it's going up better than any wallpaper I've seen in the series so far, which is quite nice to see.

Bruisername · 29/05/2025 20:19

I think I’d prefer it to last half an hour and cut out the family and Alan bits

They do seem tough and not sure I love either of their plans

Always check where your shipments are coming from! It's hardly rocket science in this day and age when co much comes from China and Hong Kong and if you need things quickly, pay more, closer to home if it's important. His wallpaper will turn up just in time though.

Shadesofscarlett · 29/05/2025 20:22

those tile transfers - are they too small for the tiles. Sure i saw a gap round them.

Bruisername · 29/05/2025 20:23

I don’t think the gap matters given the colour of the underlying tile. I wonder how they last

FagsMagsandBags · 29/05/2025 20:23

I like his dining room. I'm not keep on the red he's got or his sofa which I think is neither the med nor a British cottage, it's just, stripes. Of course, I forgot he likes stripes.

I like Rita's wallpaper and her idea of a pink kitchen but with some rough wood. I'm interested to see what they'll both be doing upstairs.

FagsMagsandBags · 29/05/2025 20:25

Tile transfers are hit and miss. I've got some good ones, but they can look incredibly tacky. On TV it's difficult to tell how those will look in real life. They can be a good idea and definitely better than retiling. It would take nearly all his time to do that.

TBF, Portmeirion’s location manager says that whilst it’s not an homage to Portofino, it is quite a nod to it.

John, lovely bed.

Bruisername · 29/05/2025 20:26

The master bedroom is a bit too white but the single room is cute

FagsMagsandBags · 29/05/2025 20:28

Did Alan just say she'd get five stars on "tip advisor"?

Bruisername · 29/05/2025 20:29

Hate Rita’s hallway!!

SabrinaThwaite · 29/05/2025 20:30

Orange glossed woodchip?

That’s … um … bold.

jay55 · 29/05/2025 20:30

It’s like easyJet threw up on the stairs. I love orange. I hate those stairs.

Yes, in a reference to ‘re-purposing’ old stuff (their word).

Shadesofscarlett · 29/05/2025 20:31

orange shiny woodchip - just why. hideous. looks like a drug den.

FagsMagsandBags · 29/05/2025 20:31

Totally up in the air now. I don't hate the orange but it's challenging. I don't love it either.

Yeah, I thought so which made it just not quite rude but it felt a bit nearly rude even though I knew what he meant.

Bruisername · 29/05/2025 20:32

I can’t tell yet who it will be but I fear for Rita with that orange
