Hello all
Have started a second thread in case the other one runs out

I think that would be a fairer way @NeedWineNow and actually I think Briony did a better job than Rita

Beyond did just what the owners wanted and whilst yes, a nicer curtain may have been good, they achieved Ed the aesthetic they wanted and it was harmonious. I think if you'd shoved a mad statue in here of a flamingo or something, it would have dialled down the elegance.
The cream bouclé chairs were a bit naff but otherwise I thought it was lovely and John scraped through really unfairly. He didn't finish. Again

Something that jumps out at me from that interview - Rye was done on a bank holiday, but Edinburgh Fringe is well after all the banks hols apart from August, which it's before.

Did they have really long gaps in filming? Or predetermined losers because they filmed out of sequence (surely not?)?

I think I posted on the thread at the beginning and then forgot about it …
Love the programme , love seeing what Michelle is wearing . She always looks really beautiful and elegant . Oh to be tall ( and ) slim . I think she wore a fabulous jumpsuit( sparkly ) in one series . I follow her on instagram and I think she said she hires / borrows most of her clothes .
i do also like Alan Carr . I hated with a passion his radio 2 show but do like him on this . I do think that at times his sketches feel like The Alan Carr show …Following recommendations on this site , I also watched Amanda and Alan’s Italian job etc tv show which is also good .
Love the judges too . Am a big fan of Mary Portas .
My favourites this season are Craig and Rita so I hope they end up in the final .
I am not really a fan of minimalism so did find Rita and Briony’s design a bit boring and lacking something . Though do agree that it would have been “ fairer “ ; if John had gone .

Read that Briony is happy with the publicity and jobs that she has got following the series .

i think because it is a competition there is often an element of slightly unfair exits , when a contestant has consistently done well throughout previous weeks and then gets put out for for 1 ropey week . This in in contrast to slightly weaker contestants who haven’t performed brilliantly throughout( but not the worst ) and manage to stay in . But I think if you did a cumulative score throughout whilst it would be fairer, it wouldn’t make such good tv .

interesting point about the gap between May and August . Wonder if it is linked to Alan Carr’s renovation programmer( mentioned above ) that he seems to film over the summer .

It also makes me wonder about the bits in the studio when they are told what they are doing and then afterwards when they are told who is on the sofa.

It would be a lot of faff to get them all together just to film them being told what they are doing.
I wonder if they are actually told what and where via a phone call or email and then film the studio bit after the task before the sofa. Much easier to do that, just bring two outfits along.
So all the studio bits are done in the one day.

I want Craig to win. I never thought I’d say that when the series started!

Netaporter · 21/05/2025 17:52

I’m having my hair done so might not be able to watch live..

I have no one I want to win this year tbh.

Halsall · 21/05/2025 18:04

I just don’t want John to win!

Rosierambles · 21/05/2025 21:57

I need to watch live! Off to check when it's on

FagsMagsandBags · 21/05/2025 22:41

Not sure why the gap would be so long but August maybe to do with the festival?

Bruisername · 21/05/2025 22:59

is it actually filmed during the festival or they’ve just got them doing something fringe related in Edinburgh

Ellmau · 22/05/2025 00:29

I imagine it's pre festival, but surely it can't be massively before because they wouldn't want the venue ready too far ahead. We may get a clue when it airs.

SabrinaThwaite · 22/05/2025 20:04

We’re a thruple 🙄

jay55 · 22/05/2025 20:06

Evening. Not keen on any of the three winning. So I’ll go for Rita.

Chrysanthemum5 · 22/05/2025 20:06

Oh the Royal Dick was the Royal Dick Vet School.

I can only imagine the innuendo Alan will delight us with!

OP posts:
Netaporter · 22/05/2025 20:06

Oh dear lots of Dick jokes all evening I fear

Chrysanthemum5 · 22/05/2025 20:07

Out of the 3 I like Rita best

OP posts:
Chrysanthemum5 · 22/05/2025 20:08

I guess it's not actually Fringe time or it would be heaving but more of a general refresh of a pub/bar

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 22/05/2025 20:08

The Royal Dick is rather grand - lots of scope to royally fuck it up.

Halsall · 22/05/2025 20:09

No clowns PLEASE, Rita 🤡

SabrinaThwaite · 22/05/2025 20:10

Rita is either going big or going home.

Netaporter · 22/05/2025 20:10

Rita’s looks appropriate

FagsMagsandBags · 22/05/2025 20:11

I seriously fear clowns and it's because when I was 9 we went to a circus where a clown had a snake around his shoulders. Nope.

SabrinaThwaite · 22/05/2025 20:11

I like Rita’s wooden horse.
