New drama starts 18th June for 6 episodes on itv

Rose Ayling-Ellis leads the cast of ITV's "groundbreaking" new crime drama Code of Silence, playing a police canteen worker and skilled lip reader, whose skills are called upon for a perilous undercover operation.

Created by Hijack’s Catherine Moulton, the six-part series stars Strictly Come Dancing (https://www.digitalspy.com/strictly-come-dancing/) winner Rose Ayling-Ellis (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/reality-tv/a62071943/rose-ayling-ellis-family-connection-eastenders/)
in the lead role of Alison Woods, a deaf woman who has spent years working in a police canteen and secretly observing conversations.

The Strictly Come Dancing (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/bbc-news-strictly-come-dancing/) winner plays Alison, who finds herself embroiled in a high-stakes undercover operation. As the tension builds, her character faces dangerous challenges while trying to navigate a world of secrecy and deception.

Alison's life takes an unexpected turn when her lip-reading skills catch the attention of DS Ashleigh Francis (Ritchie) and DI James Marsh (Andrew Buchan), who recruit her for a covert operation in which she must surveil a dangerous gang who are plotting a high-stakes heist.

She’s struggling to make ends meet, juggling two jobs, in a police canteen and a local bar, while also doing her best to support her Deaf mum, Julie.

When DC Ashleigh Francis calls on Alison to lip-read the conversations of some dangerous criminals, she is plunged into a new and exhilarating world." the ITV synopsis teases.

Alison’s interpretation of the gang's clandestine meetings quickly become key to unlocking the police investigation.

But Alison's feelings about the case become complicated when she finds herself drawn to Liam, one of the main suspects.

Alison knows she's putting herself at risk by agreeing to work with the police, and when things threaten to spill over into her personal life, she knows she should step away. But Alison can’t let go…"

I'm genuinely annoyed after that. Alison did not deserve being treated like the heroine, she put so many people in jeopardy and it wasn't even her who saved the day!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/06/2025 22:21

She got £50k for sleeping with a witness. Always ignoring the police and putting their case at risk

guess she will wait for Liam

Well it was very far fetched but it was entertaining and it tied everything up nicely!
What happened to her lovely ex boyfriend though 😔

My satellite went down with the wind and I missed the end. Did Liam get jailed and what is she doing now?

purpleme12 · 02/06/2025 22:43

It just showed him pleading guilty.
Didn't show him getting sentenced

Alison moved out from her flat with her mum
And got paid by the police £50,000 for being an informant for them

Mollypolly2610 · 02/06/2025 22:44

Thank you

ArtTheClownIsNotAMime · 02/06/2025 22:49

Also the main policeman gave her a leaflet for a forensic lip reading course and told her she'd be great as a police lip reader because all investigations need someone sleeping with the suspects and getting police officers shot

Mollypolly2610 · 02/06/2025 22:58

Thank you!!

Did I miss something? I thought there was a mole in the police?

He wasn't mentioned any more. I couldn't really see the point of him being in it .

A bit of a silly ending , bet we could all do with 50 grand for doing our job so haphazardly 😅

I didn't get that from the programme?

I made the suggestion that it might have been a possibility. Obviously I was wrong in this instance - still have my doubts.

placemats · 03/06/2025 15:24

I don't think it was a happy ending, however 50 grand helps!

Enjoyed watching it and would probably watch a second series that involves the exposure of a mole. 😀

I thought the £50000 came from the Joshi family whose necklace was stolen? Police would never pay an informant £50000 especially one who had put so many people in danger.

Various recaps also say that the police person handed her a letter saying she was paid £50,000 for being an informant

No idea if police would or wouldn't do this in real life but this is Tele so anything goes!

CalamityGanon · 04/06/2025 09:32

@purpleme12As an ex Police Officer no they wouldn’t. However looking at the letter she was handed the money came from the Joshi family’s insurers, not the Police, who asked it be passed on to the halfwit woman. Having said that surely the necklace was recovered so can’t see why an insurer would payout anything. They quibble paying when there is genuine loss and can’t see they would pay a substantial amount out for no reason. An M&S voucher maybe but not £50000 😂😂

BakeOffRewatch · 04/06/2025 10:09

I think the £50k was a plot crutch to make her affording to not work and pay for the course believable, and open up the path for series 2.

I really enjoyed her being told that she couldn’t be part of the trial and that all her risks were for nothing. Exactly as you were told Alison! As a viewer it felt like chickens coming home to roost after all those frustrations. She was so upset about the police officer who was injured - what about the security guy was actually murdered!?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/07/2025 17:28

There is a s2 being filmed

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/07/2025 21:53
