New drama starts 18th June for 6 episodes on itv

Rose Ayling-Ellis leads the cast of ITV's "groundbreaking" new crime drama Code of Silence, playing a police canteen worker and skilled lip reader, whose skills are called upon for a perilous undercover operation.

Created by Hijack’s Catherine Moulton, the six-part series stars Strictly Come Dancing (https://www.digitalspy.com/strictly-come-dancing/) winner Rose Ayling-Ellis (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/reality-tv/a62071943/rose-ayling-ellis-family-connection-eastenders/)
in the lead role of Alison Woods, a deaf woman who has spent years working in a police canteen and secretly observing conversations.

The Strictly Come Dancing (https://www.yours.co.uk/leisure/celebrity-tv/bbc-news-strictly-come-dancing/) winner plays Alison, who finds herself embroiled in a high-stakes undercover operation. As the tension builds, her character faces dangerous challenges while trying to navigate a world of secrecy and deception.

Alison's life takes an unexpected turn when her lip-reading skills catch the attention of DS Ashleigh Francis (Ritchie) and DI James Marsh (Andrew Buchan), who recruit her for a covert operation in which she must surveil a dangerous gang who are plotting a high-stakes heist.

She’s struggling to make ends meet, juggling two jobs, in a police canteen and a local bar, while also doing her best to support her Deaf mum, Julie.

When DC Ashleigh Francis calls on Alison to lip-read the conversations of some dangerous criminals, she is plunged into a new and exhilarating world." the ITV synopsis teases.

Alison’s interpretation of the gang's clandestine meetings quickly become key to unlocking the police investigation.

But Alison's feelings about the case become complicated when she finds herself drawn to Liam, one of the main suspects.

Alison knows she's putting herself at risk by agreeing to work with the police, and when things threaten to spill over into her personal life, she knows she should step away. But Alison can’t let go…"

This is really good. Fascinating to see the world from her point of view.

I really enjoyed that. Different from 'Reunion' with the focus on lip reading. Think it's going to get messy though with her and Liam.

I liked how during one of the adverts, it just went silent so all we saw were the subtitles

Yes I thought the cat had stood on the remote and muted the tv for a minute! 😂

I thoroughly enjoyed ep 1, very intriguing

ChicOliveCritic · 19/05/2025 21:04

Did she deliberately ride into Liam's car? She's now withholding information from the team 😣

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/05/2025 21:35

No I don't think she deliberately rode into his car

3smallpups · 19/05/2025 22:34

Am enjoying it but also finding it stressful as she makes such bad life choices!

JewelleryCat · 19/05/2025 23:03

It’s getting a bit scary for her now, especially when Liam demanded her phone. Yes, she must have a burner phone because the screen looked different when she was texting Ashleigh

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/05/2025 23:26

I wasn’t sure if he deleted her text

vur she is playing with fire

lesst the police know now she is there

but taking big risks

I think Liam wants to be good and maybe they will live happily ever after

or he will help them get the gang

Watched the first ep, and I don't think it's for me. I liked the premise, and it was very nicely staged, but it just too silly when Alison decided to go all Secret Squirrel. With predictable complications.

Fleamaker · 20/05/2025 10:06

I think Liam knows she's working for police
